  1. Is it so hard for you guys to just say "Congrats" job well done. My parents always taught me that if you do not have anything nice to say than dont say anything at all....good advice dont you think?
  2. I just noticed that CCCooperAgency now has 15,000 cache finds....way to go!!! Cant wait to see the tally AFTER GW4! You GO GIRL!!
  3. Although I do not know of any cachers that live in the city of Venice you have an awesome group of cachers in the immediate area, you should try contacting Doc Dean, Leigh Mafia, GoofyButterfly or Team Oohrah. All are active cachers in that area. I travel to Venice several times a year and would be happy to help you out. I live in South Florida so whatever I could do from here I would. Did you say you posted this on the FGA forums? You might also want to try the NEFGA forums as many Florida cachers frequent both sites. Many will tell you to go ahead and post the CITO event and others will show up....and they will. Good Luck! Nickie
  4. Here is the link fishdog incase you couldnt find it on the FGA site http://65.34.18.106/e107_plugins/custom/FloridaReststops.php
  5. Try posting at www.floridacaching.com I know that there is a link on the site to rest stop caches.
  6. I've heard of people doing much worse things then jaywalk to get to the cache, I would be surprised if that was the reason it was archived.
  7. Big Foot was a big hit with my 8 & 2 year old and we did it at night, there are quite a few in walking distance that could be fun.
  8. Got a FTF the other day, my first in a long while, it felt good!! No angst here
  9. Have you arranged with any local hotels for a group rate for the event weekend?
  10. When I first started caching back in 2002 I too questioned the finds of a few "power" cachers, only because I found maybe 7 caches, at most, in one day if I was lucky. The more I got into caching the more I realize how 40-50-60...even more caches in a day is very possible, times that by a few days every week and one can quickly get a very high find count. I think that the top cachers should be applauded instead of criticized....they are just like the rest of us but with a lot more determination, drive and free time! And unless you have personally met any of them then I feel it is unfair to judge and assume..........we all know the old saying when you assume something. I also think it is BAD FORM to call out a cacher on the boards.....not very cool in my book.
  11. Link to paperless caching info on Florida Caching
  12. There is a great article written by Clan Barron, with step by step instructions on paperless caching on Florida Caching.
  13. geo boy...that is alot of mantaining to do for one cache, if just 1 of the stages goes missing the whole cache is ruined. Perhaps place a few well thought out micros first. You can get free film canisters at any walmart., they save them for recycling. For larger size containers I have had good luck with the Lock n Lock containers and 1 gallon Rubbermaid containers with the screw on tops, they are redily available at most Targets/Walmart...ect. Best of luck to you!!
  14. E-mail harassment of another member should not be tolerated. We provide our e-mails on here with the assumption that we will provide others a means of communicating with us regarding geocaching or our caches. If a user started to harass me via that same e-mail that I provided to Groundspeak, I would feel violated and even more so if TPTB knew about it, banned that person, and then allowed them to come back to the site... Do people really change? Don't know...but from experience usually they eventually rear their ugly heads again Besides...there is little to stop them from "starting over" and coming back on under another user name...
  15. Forgive..... but rest assured that many in here will not forget...which is probably punishment enough.
  16. Try going to www.floridacaching.com and you will find lots of helpful Floridians who can offer great advice on a city they know.
  17. tdl &claire.....I guess some read right over the fact that you are a new cacher and felt the need to bash you right away. I can understand your point, perhaps you feel as if just a few cachers are taking on the burden of a specific area, and you are trying to get others to particitpate. In theory it would be great if everyone could hide 10% of their finds, but the quality would suffer. As you become more familiar with geocaching you will see that some of the best hiders take months to plan out their cache, thus planning an enjoyable find for you. Welcome to geocaching....your best bet is to search out a local or regional geocaching group...they tend to be more pleasant than the GC forums.
  18. PLease send me a pm too....I get the same error. Thanks
  19. I have the same problem.....any solutions??
  20. Did you check letterboxing.org? http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?bo...hinking_of_Home
  21. Out of the 200 or so caches I have found in FL several of them did have "social trails" from geocachers. It is the responsibility of the cache owner to place the cache where little enviromental harm will be done, and to also indicate on the cache page that no bushwacking is needed or no need to go off the trail. Although sometimes those who enjoy bushwacking will ALWAYS find the hardest way to the get to the cache.
  22. Simply amazing.....10,000 little smileys, 10,000 little journeys, 10,000 "I found its"....and many faces along the way. It was a pleasure to meet you at GW3, my personal highlight from GW3 will always be finding that night cache while searching by the lighthouse with you. I hope you continue your journey....I am in awe at your accomplishment....GO GIRL GO !!!! nickie
  23. While driving to Geowoodstock 3 KBnDD got rear ended and this cache was placed in honor of their crash....ONLY IN JAX !!! Also after the crash we found a cache that was 320 feet away from the scene of the crime
  24. So if you do a bunch of pocket queries, you would have to invest in a laptop so that you can store them on that...correct. MY GPSr only allows 500 waypoints, and I do have a Palm but to my knowledge I can not transfer PQ's from my palm to my gps?? edited for typos
