  1. I ordered 8 coins. At the very reasonable price these are coins that you can leave in a cache--kind of the origional point of having geo-coins.

I have two long lost travel bugs and will use there numbers with an explaination and the coin in a small plastic bag to make it fully trackable. Hopefully it survives, but if not I can always start a replacement up for only $3.25

Maine geocachers should be warmly thanbked for what they are doing!

The first person that puts these on EBay should be tarred and feathered!!!!

  2. Since I only recently started collecting coins let me add this insight. I could not get Ohio or Colorado, they were sold out. You could easily buy Maryland and Michigan at their web sites for $6 each That should have suppressed the price on those coins for many people (if they knew where to look. There were still a few crazy people that bid the Maryland price up high, but then it dropped as supply rushed into eBay.

I think here are geocachers, as opposed to coin collectors who only want the trackable coins to give thenselves a new icon. I dont think they really care about the coins, just getting the icon.

I have circulated USA coins in caches, with worst case the coin is lost (or really stolen) and you are out $6 and buy a new one. I would be afraid to circulate my new Maryland coins for two reasons, 1. More tempting for some one to take and 2. They are now sold out so cant be replaced.

  3. If you just want to get the icons, at least on the found side of your stats, you can always go to some of the larger geocaching events. At GONE regional event you could log 3-6 of each coin, including a Moun10bike coin.

Last I looked there wer about 9 different icon coins with 4 mors to release soon

  4. Just happened to check my stats this morning and noticed that the Michigan (MIGO) trackable coin has a fancy icon---a small map of Michigan. Neat. Maryland icon is still more colorful and cute, but if you dont know what Maryland state flag looks like, Marylan icon is not as definitive as MIGO.

Hope this is trend and all trackable coins go this route

  5. I have a few of the G.O.N.E event attendee coins. Fortunately a few members of the caching team I was on could care less about coins so I was able to have them buy a coin for me. These are the brass coins (100 made) and not the brass version. With high attendence at the event I dont think there are more than a few left (Avroair knows for sure. )

These are up for trade. My priority wants, all icon generating coins like a got to see at G.O.N.E. and that I can activate and use at Geocaching events would be:

    1. Moun10bike (you always need a super strech goal)

    2. Geo Bash (I like the looks of that coin)

    3. GeoWoodstock

    4. Colorado

    5. Ohio

    6. Germany

  6. I just started collecting state coins, buying what was available (Alaska, Texas, N.C and MIGO). I bought the California coin and bid on lots more. Paying double the origional coin cost didnt bother me and maybe would go triple cost. The ones I really wanted (trackable in GC.com) sold for very high price.

Is Ohio coin actually worth more on the open market because it is trackable. To me it was. My limit was 10-12 dollars for state coin and 15-20 dollars for GC trackable coin.

If coins keep comming up I think the ebay price will drop. First GeoBash went for $47.50 Second coin (still in bidding) is $32 with 2nd highest bidder from first coin leading the bidding. Once you supply the few "got to have it" people, the price will drop.

  7. I would like to acquire your coin, to activate and use at Geocaching events to generate new icon for people.

My stock is very limited--2 MIGO, 2 Texas, 2 Alaska, 1 NC, Canada, and 2005 USA, plus others ordered and by next week will have supply of G.O.N.E from the event
