  1. Yup...dead cats happen. We too have seen a decomposing cat napping within 10 feet of a micro hidden in a city park. I am not a forensic investigator, but I think the cache came before the cat.
  2. Has anyone had any luck getting Garmin to sell you a replacement battery contact for the old yeller? Or will they make you send it in and pay the $ for the out of warranty service? The battery contact opposite the springs in my unit broke.

    HELP

Speak for yourself. Iwill be heartbroken if I drop or sit on or otherwise destroy my "New in Box" Palm IIIXE that I recently pucchased on Ebay for $15.00 US. Seriously though, much handier than paper, with GSAK and Cachemate I can sort, find nearest, log finds... so much better than paper. When I get my process refined I may even splurge and see if I can get a color Palm off of Ebay for a few more bucks!
  4. LPC stands for "Long haired Poodle Cache" Which can be just as dangerous as the propane type. As for lifting skirts... nuff said .
  5. I don't think the number of caches found is a valuable measurement in determining a persons ability to place a well thought out cache that meets the guidelines. Most of my first found caches were the so called "lame parking lot micros" which I'm sure there was no permission received to place. I think that having the ability to flag and send caches back to the reviewer with comments as to why you think a cache falls outside of the guidlines may be appropriate.
  6. How about bad hides by "Experienced Cachers"? I don't believe for a minute that permission was obtained to place the majority of the thousands of parkinglot micros out there. And you can't tell me they were all placed by n00bs either. The magnet hides on the public utilities is another type I have seen placed by cachers who have been doing this for years. Public Utilities are not public property. IMO waiting periods for anything won't change an individual's behavior. People do what they want to do regardless of the sanctions placed upon them. I like the idea of linking the cache approval page to the guidelines though. "The problem with common sense is that it isn't common enough"
