  1. I just ran a quick pocket query for mega event caches in US and Canada and here is what came up. Well it is a start.

18 Feb 07 Temecula Valley Geocaching Event III

    26 May 07 GeoWoodstock 5

The Rocky Mountain Rendevouz (mega event)is being held in Idaho is the weekend of August 3/4.

  2. Well - I certainly know that we would like to offer a "package" for consideration to the selection committee.

The world is full of wonderful places - I've had the chance to visit some nice places in my time. The reason I would like to put together a Calgary package is that I think the area would appeal to a wide variety of cachers. It's really very outdoor orientated, yet metro and urban at the same time.

Plus - it's fun to see a new place and still feel safe and welcome at the same time. Calgary is actually the most "American" city in Canada. I once heard we have about 60,000 US citizens living/working here. (oil industry is big here). I can't confirm that though.

The biggest appeal I think is that you can really feel like you are in the middle of the wilderness - when you are in the middle of the city. Alternatively - you can get into some of the most remote wilderness going.

If anyone is interested, some places to google to get an idea would be:

    Calgary Parks

Waterton Lake Park (borders the US Glacier National Park)

    Banff

    Drumheller

    Lake Louise

    Kananaskis

To give you an idea - Calgary has about a million people in it. You can actually go fly fishing in the river that runs through downtown and the water and fish are healthy. That may not seem like much - but it isn't as common as you may think in a city of a million.

Anyhow - like I stated. It would propably be better if some ground rules were given out and then a more structured proposal could be offered.

Needless to say though - if anyone is travelling this way personally or would like more info - just let me know!

Minus my Tahiti suggestion (which no one seemed to want...lol) I really like the Alberta suggestion, plus I can drive there instead of fly and any flight out of Montana is expensive. I know, no one gives a rip what I think :P

Waterton Lake Park and Banff are spectacular!

I'm just wondering who is the ultimate decision maker in all this?

  3. Thanks for the positive feed back on the petroglyphs from everyone that has received their packages.

The next group of mailings will go out on Monday, the petroglyphs are made, I am just finishing up packaging and the detail work.

After this last group then I will start preparing packages and mailings for the donations/trades/contest winners but I'm going to get some caching in first:D.

  6. Thanks for the contest Tsun... <_< If you don't mind me piggybacking I'll give the first correct answer to this TWO PART question one of my Top40 coins.

Where are the Missouri Breaks? And how are they significant to Tsuns questions?

I'm not sure what Missouri Breaks your talking about but I can tell about Montana's, located in central Montana. Declared a national Monument by Teddy Roosevelt. Lewis and Clark came through and a very important part to many native American Tribes. The topography is much like the Badlands and there are record Elk for hunting :D

  13. I love it when I'm walking in the mountains with the smell of the Ponderosa Pine all around me, watching black-capped chickadees dart from branch to branch, the sound of the wind gently moving through the trees and brushing against my face, the flash of a whitetail's tail silently running off into the distance, the babbling sound of a nearby creek, and if I'm real lucky; the sight of a Bald Eagle soaring on the summer thermals. I love the peaceful way I feel when I'm visiting with Mother Nature. Life is good.

I don't cache for the numbers, I cache for the opportunity to bring my love of nature and my sense of adventure together.

    P.S. Great thread!

  14. Hi all

I figured I would give this a try. I am seeking a Yellowstone NP Geocoin (park employee 88-91). I have a limited amount of coins for trade since I am so new to the community. Send me an email and we'll see where it goes from there.

    Thanks for your time.

    Ron

    The Justice League of NM

Might be worthwhile contacting the maker of the coin. :)

    Oh Wait that i me.

E-mail me with what you have.

I did a quick search, I'm not able to see what the coin looks like, I've seen the icon (cool). Does anyone have a link or a coin in their trader/skeeing list, just so I can see what it looks like? This sounds like one I might like. Thanks. (I checked your website but don't see it).

    Tsun.

  15. Finally finished looking thru this thread. There are some really great items in here!

Summerandnana, those canes are awesome. I tried one a long time ago and gave up. I know it takes practice but I'm too impatient for that.

Everyone who is doing their own clay/stamping/wood carving, etc. that's great to see, hope most are still doing their sig items. I'm going to have to start trading.

  16. The first cache I did had a camera in it, here in Helena. It was pouring down rain and I was foolish enough to take one of myself. Everyone who is in the photos is invited to a bar-b-que this summer.

I also saw a poster on here that posted the pics from his camera that was in a cache and then I decided I would never want to be "published" without knowing.

Yet, I bought one to put in one of my caches for this summer. Maybe Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom will stop by :)
