  1. k2dave I can tell you from recent experience that this site is clean. I changed my email address about 2 months ago and geocaching mail is still the only thing that I receive there.
  2. It helps the bug to stay on track and not go missing if you attach a card to him simply stating directions how to log a TB and the goals you have given him. It is not at all required but those of us that have sent out bugs have been trying to keep them moving and have found this to help. Check out this thread for more talk on this subject along with a sample card Markwell has shared. http://opentopic.Groundspeak.com/0/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=1750973553&f=8080979883&m=7780968393 Good Luck!

  4. Sure why not? I think that's one of the plus's of the travel bugs... they get us revisiting caches and on our return visit we can pay more attention to our surroundings.

  6. rediguana, Hey with any luck maybe you can make it up to NY area for a weekend event gathering? We're sure to have a few things going on over the summer. Good Luck... sounds like an exciting time for you. Ttepee
  7. Came across these today and thought they looked pretty cool. you can check them out here
  8. Hi Alan2, I've been trying to take the permissions approach for the past 6 months or so and have made some good progress. I've received permission from local preserves, Scenic Hudson which has beautiful lands on both sides of the river from Yonkers to Kingston, and currently I have a request in to a NYS park in area. They have sent my request to the regional office but so far the interest has been positive. They mentioned the possiblity of a fee for a permit once the regional office tries to officialize it. I could live with that, I'm supposed to call back later in the week. If the NYS park goes through I'll try to post contact information.
  9. I've got a variety of stuff between dollar stores, flea markets, military surplus, merchandise surplus... I dunno...where ever I find something interesting. My eyes are always open for stashables

  11. Thanks Rad Dad... I think he's pretty cool too At his last stay in Jersey he supposedly gained himself some eyes, a tatoo and a beret. He should get more interesting as time goes on. Now I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait till 2003 to see him again. I already am dying to read his log book and get the inside story. He's teaching me lessons in patience, which is a TB lesson I need to learn.

  13. How about using a My Yahoo or My Netscape kinda setup to post your bookmarks on... that way you've got access anywhere without having to make/ or till a new feature is made.
  14. Yep... that's what makes my TB/traveling cache Gilbert work. I had posted a topic in the old TB forums (but can't find it now)...when the cache is moved the finder needs to retrieve it from the cache and replace it when the cache is rehidden... though the bug stays in the same cache all the time the cache moves so the TB maps the movement. Pretty cool.. I was thrilled to find it actually worked when I sent it out.
  15. I've seen just the travel bug tags put out there. The first time I didn't take it cause I thought it was missing something and it was the first bug I'd come across when they first came out. The next time I took the bug and attached a geocaching keychain compas to it.... it just felt like it needed something. I think without an object there's even more of a chance of the bugs going MIA.. leaves too much open to chance.

  17. I think the problem is that your travel bug is also a traveling cache and makes it that much more confusing. They've got to retrieve the bug from the cache and redeposit it back in the cache for the mileage to start racking up...maybe you should clarify the instructions... or else maybe since it's been picked up from it's initial location lose the cache page and just stick with the TBug page?

  19. It's your bug to do with as you wish. I forsee changing bug's goals when they reach their destination.... but if I just changed my mind.. why not? The only thing that would be tricky is that I usually try to have a laminted card with goals and logging instructions with the bug. I would try to contact cachers for help replacing the card though.. where there's a will there's a way!
  20. It might be a good idea to include this request in the weekly notification emails. I bet there's alot of folks out there that don't participate in the forums that have some really cool stuff that we've never seen before. I'm due for a painting session but will send out a Tribe Totem pouch next week. Ttepee
  21. That's a tough one.. it may have been activated or attached incorrectly to start with. First I think I would email the owner of the travel bug page that it brings you to see if that is indeed the owner. If that doesn't work you may need to email Jeremy to see if he can give you any further info as to the bugs owner. Good Luck!
  22. **Walking around with my birth certificate stapled to my forehead since I'm a NY'r with no character and obviously no redeeming qualities, which way to Broadway? smell from that darn cow pattie is blinding me***
  23. I've been trying to tell myself it's just a change to get used to but I must say it's starting to get me resenting approvers for taking so long to get them through. Between this and the recent logs being cut back to 200 and the photo gallery to 100 it's getting pretty boring to try to follow the site closely. Just had to get that off my chest.
