  1. If you are referring to the Mario Bros. block coin (the one with the question mark) it's not a mystery coin. The code you see in the question mark are coordinates.

Yes it is the coin with question mark on it sorry about the confusion. The coordinates make no sense to me any ideas?

I'm not quite sure. Maybe boomerangpapa will chime in and be of some help.

ETA: I think they might be the coordinates to a mystery cache in Canada.

Yes they are Coordinates for a cache in British Columbia Canada

  2. I just got my new Out & Back today and I've already got a problem. :) I uploaded several .gpx files to the the GPX directory via USB. Disconnected the unit and it spent a few minutes reading them all in. All worked like a charm at that point. Viewed a couple caches, ran though some basic position testing, all was well. I was really happy....

The I tried to delete what I had downloaded so I could download my "real" master GPX file. Now it not only doesn't have the originals, but it won't read in the new one.

Apperently it converts the XXX.gpx files into a XXX.gpx directory when it reads them in. The directories are now empty and I am unable to delete tehm. Worse yet, my new GPX file doesn't get noticed and any attempt to find geopcaches come back with "none found".

I'm really bummed. :) Thought this would be a great, reasonably robust standalone unit at a decent price that I could carry around in my pack, glove compartment, etc. for impromptu caching. NOw it's bascally a brick as far as caching is concerned (but the GPS function worls like a charm).

Anyone else have similar problems? Any way known to clear the internal memory?

    Arrrrghhhhhh!!!!!

Have you applied the new firmware update? available here: I updated mine a couple days a go and now I can delete the directories and have Canadian roads! on my base map. I also noticed they have released a few topo mapsets on micro SD for all units. and turn by turn road maps for Canada & US but only for Safari and Sierra

  3. Anyone know if this will work with a Mac? I reviewed the owner's manual at the lowrance website but it doesn't say.

Could someone summarize the options for adding extra maps to this unit? Are these options available with a mac? Would map files from www. gpsfiledepot.com work?

    Thanks!

Don't know if it will work with a mac but my Ubuntu machine recognized it and I was able to upload my find logs to Groundspeak today.

  4. Thanks. I'm trying to verify that what I'm seeing is normal before I post a review. Hopefully, I'll have it up in the next week or so.

I currently own two lowrances the ifinder expedition C & the Endura Safari The Safari has great potential I love the mp3, Video, Paperless and filtering features of the unit.

Mapping, adding Geocaching waypoints, and the spotty behavior under trees are a couple beefs.

I'm hoping they will do some updates to fix the problems soon.

  5. Thanks plumbrokeacres. Are you noticing lengthy startup and acquisition times (on the order of 1.5 minutes) or significant delays (up to several seconds) in response to inputs?

Yes to Startup input times don't seem too bad though it takes quite a while to load 300+ Mp3's

I'd say my biggest beef other than the lack of mapping(why I can't use my mapcreate maps boggles my mind)

is trying to set a new waypoint for my cache hides I can input the waypoints set it as a geocache but when I try to verify the cords are good it Pops up "You have Arrived" within 30' and stops navigating.

  6. there are enough things I like about my Endura Safari to keep me from returning it. though I have a few beefs:

    1. Mapping there is no mapping available for Canada this is very fustrating as I need to bring along my Lowrance Expedition C.

    2. I can copy .GPX files from my pocket Queries. but when I export a GPX file from GSAK the endura won't recognize it.

    3. the Endura creates a new folder in the name of the GPX file you can delete the contents of the file but not the folder.

    4. if you don't delete the old GPX's from the unit the new set creates duplicates, my Expedition C would skip duplicates

    5. no documentation the manual that came with the unit is small, my Expedition had a 161 page manual

    6. when creating a new waypoint for hiding a cache, when you go to verify the cords the unit will say found it! and stop navigating at around 20' from the cache.

Like I said I love the unit and the features it has but these are a few annoyances

  7. I have a netbook that I take to events on the road. i only use it for downloading new caches if I can access free WIFI and then transfer the info to a PDA and my GPS. I now have a new Endura Safari and just load the Gpx files to it it along with a few others have paperless caching built into it. I wouldn't want to lug a netbook into the bush.

  8. 1. What is your favorite finish? It really depends on the coin when I started collecting i didn't like the antique finishes when I had my coin minted I wasn't going to get antique samples, turns out the Antiques worked better for my coin...

    2. What is your favorite 2-tone finish? It's a cop out I know but it depends on the coin design

    3. Do you like to see multiple finishes offered for a coin? Do you buy them all, or just your favorite(s)? I like to see multiple finishes and will choose my favorites.

    4. Do you prefer round coins or shaped coins? Depends on the coin again though I've been getting more of the shaped coins lately.

    5. Do you prefer trackable or non-trackable? I prefer Trackable but I do have a couple non trackables that I really cherish non trackable have to be pretty special

    6. Do you prefer personal coins, caching-related coins, or 'art' coins? I prefer Personals and caching related

    7. Do you collect around a theme (what theme), or collect whatever catches your eye? I look for unique coins don't really have a theme

    8. Do you have a coin budget? Do you ever go over this budget? My coin buying has been limited lately I have gone over it in the past

    9. Are you more likely to buy a coin, or trade for a coin? I will do both, more likley to buy but prefer to trade trade my personal coin

    10. Do you have any 'absolutely never trade' coins in your collection, or are they all fair game for a trade? I have a couple that I will never trade any gifted or mystery cions

  9. Just got my Endura safari haven't had a chance to do too much with it i must say being able to filter caches by type, size, terrain and difficulty is amazing!

    a couple things I've noticed:

Manual sucks! my Ifinder expedition had a 123 page manual the Endura 24

Loading GPX files are easy I will try exporting from GSAK to see if that helps the found/unfound filter

lack of mapping available I not impressed about be nice if I could use my existing map create software

I like it idea of voice notes but they don't have it linked to the geocaching section ( be nice to leave a voice note intead of typing in field notes.

adding new caches into the unit, Can't see how to do it, or edit cords on existing caches.

Will be caching with it this weekend, so far the pluses outweigh the minuses.

Doues anyone know if you can use a mini usb phone charger as a external power source?
