  1. Hi. I first heard (or rather read) about geocaching when a member of my mom's club listed it as a family hobby in her introduction printed in our club newsletter. I'd never heard of it so I googled it. I also stumbled across letterboxing. I tried this first as it didn't require me to purchase any high-tech gadgets and also because I was already into rubberstamping. Well, I finally got around to getting a gpsr....too bad I didn't do it when I first heard about the hobby three years ago...I have lived in three states since then. Oh, the missed opportunities! I letterbox and geocache with my husband and two kids. I'm also trying to get two of my friends, my brother and my dad interested too!
  2. Peeps 1) cute little delicious marsh-mellow chicks. Usually are around about Easter. The Peeps company also makes bunnies. They sell novelty peeps items such as peeps socks, flashlights, plush, containers, easter baskets, and much more. 2) Short for "people". 3) Friends, buddies , pals, etc. 1) "Mmmmmmmm! these peeps are delicious! I'm going to eat these everyday for breakfast!" 2) "Hey peeps! What's up?" 3) "These are my peeps" While I think that everytime I hear someone say it, that is not what the OP is refering to of course which makes the first example sentence of definition three particulalrly disturbing to me. My 5 yr old daughter has a t-shirt that says "hangin' with my peeps" and has little marshmallow peeps on it!
  3. Thanks for the replies...I think I just need to sit down and mess with it and also the map I downloaded isn't that good, I probably need to get the Garmin topo map. rostamama
  4. I am trying to get into geocaching but have become very frustrated. After reading reviews and comments about gpsr features and talking to gpsr user at REI I bought the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx. I am not technically incapable but I'm finding this unit very hard to use and understand. I don't need to be paperless (I actually like print outs as I letterbox too and am used to this), I do want a unit that is very accurate ( I have little kids coming along and don't want to be searching too long). I can spend up to $400 including software but would like to stay at $300 or less. I did not buy the garmin topo map program. Instead I downloaded the free map for my state at gpsfileddepot.com. Does anyone have a suggestion. I need a very simple to understand gpsr that is very accurate. Please help as I am very frustrated and on the verge of just giving up. Thanks, rostamama
