  1. I am using what I think is the latest version. Easy GPS 3.03
  2. This is odd. Like normal I used to be able to download a geocache LOC file to my computer, and upload it via GPS easy to my Garmin 60csx. The last two days I can still download these files to my computer, but when I upload them to my gps it acts like it got, sent but nothing registers on my gps. The wierd thing is that I can upload old LOC files downloaded a few weeks ago and they do upload to my gps fine . It looks like to me something in the now downloaded LOC files prevents it from uploading. Anyone else having this issue or have a solution ?
  3. The first thing I noticed was that the cache icons do not indicate whether I found it already or if it is mine like the previous map. The Icons could also be a bit more visable. In my area the 15 mile limit is too restrictive. I am not a premium member yet, so I hope the icon showing if I found it is not now just a premium feature. That being said, I really haven't had enough time to really try the new map out.
  4. I just noticed that on the map the icons don't show whether the cache was already found by myself. It also doesn't show an icon indicating that the geocache is mine. Did something change overnight, or is there going to be a fix.
  5. We have only created one travel bug thus far. Unfortunately the geocacher who found it is not moving it on. It has been about three months and two friendly e-mail reminders Any suggestions
  6. I retrieved a travel bug "Happy New Year" and properly recorded it as such. It shows up as a log item in my account information. My problem is showing where I place it. Today I placed it in a local cache, but it is not on the list at the bottom of travel bugs I have . Shouldn't it be on the list of travel bugs when I record a find? Two of my previously found travel bugs are listed, but not the one I just retrieved & placed (Happy New Year). Am I doing something wrong here. If there is another way of showing where I placed it I would do that, but I cannot find it. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

    Travel Bugs

  8. Just make sure if you use the belt clip to be careful. I was out geocaching and put my 60csx on the clip, got back to the car and my gps was not there. What happened was when I put the GPS on the clip I didn't push it down hard enough to hear the "click". From now on I make sure I push it all the way in till it clicks After going back to the cache site about 400 metres, I finally found it. If however I was at some other caches, I would be looking to buy a new GPS now.
  9. If I follow the above procedure and save the track to the microcard will it save elevation and dates?
  10. I am having a bit of difficulty understanding tracks and the saving of them for my Garmin 60csx. I would like to record a track of a trail I am on, and only the trail, not including driving to the trail head, and heading back home. What is the best way to do this effectively. I would also like to have the date and altitude to show on the tracks saved. I then would like to get it to mapsource and analysis it. I know I can split tracks in map in mapsource, but that seems cumbersome. Any suggestions would be appreciated
  11. My GPS now won't turn on no matter what I do. I have also talked to Garmin support before re. maps etc. and they seem pretty helpful. However, my first choice is to just have it replaced by the store I purchased it from. I am not sure how that will turn out. It is a local store and I am worried they will not honor this and make me send it back and wait for it to be repaired or something. Makes me wish (perhaps) that I purchased it at Costco or Walmart etc. as they have very good return policies. I wanted to use it Friday with my son, so we will see.
  12. I have had my Garmin 60cSx for about 2-3 weeks now. At first I had a problem now and then turning the unit off or on. I took out the battery and the microcard and it did seem to work. Now however it will not turn off or on without using a dull pencil on the on/off button. I also sometimes need to remove & replace the batteries and micro sd card to get it to work. Has anyone had this problem out there? I haven't dealt with Garmin before so I hope their a good company when dealing with warranties. I hope to just replace it at the store I bought it from. If not I will have to contact Garmin. Just want to know if others have had a good or bad experience with this GPS model or with Garmin warranty policies.
  13. The 40% discount worked for me. I bought one for my 60csx, my sons etrex, and another for my canon 20d camera for good measure. Thanks for the info.
  14. I am not sure where you get your facts from, do you know for a fact the costs incurred by country by Garmin for mapping, or are you just making assumptions. It is a big world out there, there are maps for all over the world, so does that logic (if it is even true) mean any country that charges for mapping won't get updated maps. However if it is true that the canadian govt charges for map info it would likely be only be for topo info. I am sure the upgrades that I was talking about eg new streets etc are not provided by our government, I believe Garmin outsources the mapping. Also I have the north american metro guide and the US cities are also lacking in detail. Please don't make this a political thing, it comes across as a better than you attitude. I just think that for the price we (all countries) pay we should get up to date info.
  15. Am I the only one who is frustrated by how old the mapsource maps are. The metrocanada for instance doesn't show a overpass road that has been in existance for around 15 years in Calgary, Alberta. My topo Canada and metrocanada both do not have my street on it, plus it has a road that doesn't even exist. I believe this road was proposed at one time, but the area has since been developed and it was scrapped. I was told that Garmin does not plan on updating the topocanada soon or even ever. It just seems to me that if you pay the kind of $ we do for maps you would expect them to be at least somewat current. Preferrably with an option to update them from time to time. Am I asking for too much?
  16. When I attach my Garmin 60csx to my computer via usb port it provides power. My question is, my phone cord which plugs into the cars cigarette lighter also has the same connector. Can I use this for power when in the vehicle.
  17. Does anyone know where I can get an invisible shield in Canada. In particular Alberta.
  18. I am not a premium member as yet just started geocaching. I know I got to a map with the geocaches w/o being a premium member.
  19. I am not sure what happened, but I can't seem to find the online map that shows the geocaches. I did a search for my area in geocaching.com and it gave me a list of caches nearby. When I selected the map, the map I get is different than I am used to and it will not zoom in or out. Did something get changed?
  20. They do look like good maps, but sadly I don't believe they have any maps of Alberta or the West
  21. Thanks for your help. My memory is full, but I have it set to wrap when full. I have adjusted my settings to distance and .01 mile and will try that today.
  22. Thank you for your help. However when I go to Mapcentre I download what appears to be an interesting map but don't know how to import it into Mapsource. Do I need another programme to convert the img files into a gps file for Mapsource
  23. My Garmin 60CSx was tracking my movements while geocaching until I got near the cache. At that point it appears that it quit tracking. I was expecting to go into either the GPS or MapSource and see all of my wandering around trying to fine the cache. Is this normal or do I have a setting messed up?
  24. I have a Garmin 60csx and am using mapsource TOPO Canada 2.0 I find the info is a bit outdated on the map. Is there a better map out there? Also can I add missing roads etc to the map
