  1. I don't like the word Muggles either, but it seems to have been (almost) universally accepted so not really much I can do... I would rather we had our own word, not one stolen from a tedious series of books... Deja vu means already seen, whats doing a Delia?? Anyway, to try and stay on topic, we got busted by the police once. Very near heathrow pulling an ammo box out of the trees. We explained, they asked for it to be removed, the rest is history. The funniest bit was when they were looking at my car and said "You have to admit it looks a bit suspicious with all those wires" meaning my gps aerial on the roof, "all what wires?" I replied, to which the officer sheepishly pointed to the single visible wire and said "Erm, that one"
  2. Which caches in the UK have the highest number of logged visits? The most visited cache I ever did was one in London recently which had 200 logs on the webpage, but I guess there must be caches all over the place with more than this(?)
  3. The other issue is that cache placed names aren't the same as usernames, you can enter whatever you like as text in the placers name field on a cache listing (look at all the Jonnytuna entries for example)
  4. The cache was hidden properly with the lid on, no evidence of having been found by muggles. Inside was a logbook, hot wheels car, some crayons, a bit of ribbon and maybe a keyring, but no coin. I had a quick look round the cache area in case it had somehow fallen out but didn't poke about too much as I didn't want to delve my fingers into whatever was attracting the swarm of flies hanging about very close to the cache site. Was it left loose in the cache or in with the log book? Was it attached to anything? I don't think I missed it, but I'd happily be proven wrong.
  5. Are there many of these in the UK? Do they show up differently when searching geocaching.com?
  6. GPRS is a method of connecting to the internet. It stands for General Packet Radio Service. Its much faster than a standard mobile dial up connection and because you are charged for the packets of data sent and received (unlike dial up where you pay per minute) you can leave it always on. It's a bit like broadband for your mobile. From the phone you will only be able to access wap sites as it does not support html, if you connect via a laptop you will be able to surf normally. You can get a data cable for the phone or connect via IR.
  7. The 7250i is quite old now, its been discontinued by nokia. If they told you it has bluetooth then you were misinformed, its IR only. Its a decent phone, but I have to say I think you could have got a better deal. Several friend of mine have recently upgraded and got much newer phones for little or no money. It has a wap browser, so you will be able to log finds etc, don't expect to be too amazed though, wap is a little clunky. Hope this helps
  8. I log caches and look them up while on the move using only my Nokia 6600. It has a built in web browser (Opera) and I can access the geocaching site no problems, the phone is equipped with GPRS, and using a GPRS connection rather than dial up means you pay for the data sent and received rather than the time online so you can take your time browsing for a cache or entering a log without having to worry about running up a huge bill. The phone has a built in camera and you can also upload photos which you take with the phone. Phone is available free with a contract.
  9. Which cache and travel bug that you have ever found sticks out in your mind as being the best and why? I'll kick off, the most memorable cache is probably Dan, Pid and Mike's - Resurrection (A Pit near Penn). This was one of the first caches we ever did, the first we did as a group and maybe that plays a part in why Ive chosen it, I think we were just really surprised at what was waiting for us, such a bizarre location and also knowing the only reason we ever found that place was because of geocaching. I really think the wow factor got us hooked on caching that day and maybe if we had picked to go on a boring cache instead we maybe wouldn't still be doing it now. It's the only cache site I've ever revisited since finding. The best bug is Darth Vader, who was an official lego man Darth Vader, complete with helmet and cloak. Again, one of the first we found, but we thought this guy was cool. There were some funny photos on the travel bug page as well, which is always good. Sadly he now seems to be missing in action. To be honest I'm not surprised, I was tempted to nick him ;-)
  10. I like calling cards, I don't always have time to read the log book, and some peoples writing deserves to be on a prescription! At a glance you can see who has visited and you come to recognise peoples cards. I agree many are very similar though, c'mon guys lets see some variation!! We always leave cards, a well thought out cache will have a seperate bag for the log book to sit in, I always leave the card in there rather than just toss it in the cache box.
