  1. Once you have bought it then surely its up to you what you do with it?
  2. Sounds to me like your bug was just lingering... I'll get my coat
  3. As the number of cachers and events grows there are bound to be event clashes. Not really a big deal is it? You can't go to em all...
  4. I used to hate that, made my PDA into a fancy paperweight cos I don't use it very often and it would always go flat and forget everything. A quick upgrade to Windows Mobile 5 and now you can reset the thing as much as you want or leave it uncharged in the cupboard for months and it doesn't lose anything.
  5. I've set an extreme cache, and to be honest I don't think I would bother doing it again. In 18 months or so its had 8 logged finds, but most were team efforts so only actually about 5 separate visits. The last was in April 2007. The logs are rewarding and the feedback I've had from the people who have done it has been great but when I consider the effort which I put into setting it then I don't really consider the trade off to have been worth it. You will get an initial rush from your local hardcore cachers to find it but then the visits will dry up. It doesn't matter how good your cache is, if no-one is doing it then its wasted.
  6. I'm still the right side of 30, probably why I get all the women ;-)
  7. Won't be going out this year, but xmas day will mark the 5th anniversary of my first find. Dunno why I chose that day to get started, it just sort of ended up that way!
  8. I have one and its worth its weight in gold. Even if you never charge it in the sun just the fact you can charge it at home and use it as a battery for any of your gadgets which choose to run out en route makes it worth having.
  9. I say win the coin, pay through paypal then once it arrives file a dispute saying you never got it. The listing says postage is first class standard and unless the seller can provide a tracking number (how ironic) for the postage of the coin then paypal will find in the buyers favour and refund all money. End result is coin gets returned and seller gets stung, hopefully putting them off doing it again.
  10. On the N95 (and presumably other N series phones) if you go to Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods then you can select what methods it will use for positioning. If I choose internal GPS it uses that, if I select bluetooth receiver then it uses that. As far as I know this will work with any application which uses positioning eg Google Maps mobile or your GPS app etc. I used to use this all the time cos the internal GPS was hopeless on the N95, but with firmware 20.0.015 it now gets a lock in about 5 seconds.
  11. The mega event I attended was very well organised and coped with a large number of people well. Like most mega events this was not the first time they had put on such an event but rather an annual event which had grown over time. I don't see why it shouldn't be possible to do one from scratch though. Their set up was as such: Reception area with envelopes addressed to each caching team containing name badges, general info and your ordered event geocoins. TB/Cache listings area: Manned check in/out of all TBs along side tressle tables with hundreds of photocopies of lots of local listings Refreshments area: Indoor bar/cafe type set up. Outside there were loads of picnic type benches set up in rows, each persons name badge had a colour and number on it, you had to go round chatting to people and collect all the number/colour combos to get some coords for a cache. This was run by a scouting group at their scout camp It was in Holland and out of about 300 logged visits I think about 30 teams came from abroad, so I would expect we would get a few european attendees
  12. I agree the charge should be mentioned in the cache description. I also suspect the logic behind the log deletion was more to do with the content that the choice of log type. I have picked up caches while on holiday and would be equally unimpressed if I spent an hour or two of my precious holiday time chasing caches only to find out there is a hefty fee to pay which would have made me discount the cache from my to do list if I had been informed of it initially. People will find out sooner or later that they have to pay the £12 so why not just tell them on the listing?
  13. I ordered a selection of magnets from Power Magnet Store they are outrageously strong!
  14. Go to any LQ cache page and click on the Little Quest image in the short description, all the info is there.
  15. I use AF Track which gives you a follow the arrow pointer etc
  16. Not high and low enough I put it to you! They were on the same side of the Shell Centre that had the large projection of the WDD logo on it, standing under a white diabetes umbrella.
  17. Just got home with another 30 coins, email me if you want one! A few other cachers turned up and went away with some extras so Im sure there will be more up for grabs soon. I spent a while chatting to Claire and Gemma (if you are reading this, you are both gorgeous...) who were giving the coins out, they apologised for not being able to get back for the flash mob and also said everyone involved worldwide with giving out the coins was told to only give them to people who ask, so no need to worry about loads of muggles ending up with them. Check me out on their website, second photo from left http://www.worlddiabetesday.org/wddgallery...=all&page=6
  18. Yeah, that sounds like it should sort things out for you.
  19. I know this, and so do you, but the first question they asked me when giving me a coin was whether I was going to keep it or put it in a cache....
  20. All the coins I got are now spoken for, I might try and stop by again on Wednesday and get some more if there are still people who want one.
