  1. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... The Tsunami appeal closed ages ago, there were several reports in the news that they had received more money than they were able to use/distribute and were looking into ways of holding it for future disasters or returning it to donors. If anyone has a few quid they really want to give to charity then I would urge you to give it to a cause where it will make a difference rather than jumping on the bandwagon. There are many charities out there to whom a small amount of money would make a difference, rather than just being a drop in the ocean, if you will pardon the pun. Hearing everyone still going on about it like it was the worst thing to ever happen is really starting to get my goat.
  2. Why oh why did I have it in my head that this was all happening tomorrow.... Oh well...
  3. Half past three? That's a lie in! When I were a lad we used to get up at half past one in t' mornin, work 28 hours a day down pit and pay pit owner for t'privilege, then go home t' septic tank t' lick road clean.... People have been going outside for years without dying, just because you find a plastic box while you are out there doesn't make you more likely to contract anything nasty!
  4. Couldn't agree more. A micro can be a great cache (The Oracle Micro in Reading for example) but most are lame. As soon as I see a cache is a micro I tend to lose interest.
  5. We don't tend to go mad in the logbook, but I always try and make sure the web logs have a bit of flavour. It wasnt until I went to some event caches and several cachers said they enjoyed readin them that I realised how many people actually scan through the logs. TNLNSL logs bore me, you get no idea what the cacher is like or anything, its disappointing when someone logs one of your caches like this. I'd like to see more funny logs, plenty of funny stuff always seems to happens to me when I go caching, so Im sure it does to everyone else too.
  6. Try here Edit by Lactodorum: Be aware this link is not for children or adults who are easily offended. Click at your own risk!!
  7. Explain to me how it is a dirty trick? Again, that's really up to the cache owner. It's certainly not your place to dictate to people how they should conduct themselves within the boundaries of the game.
  8. Kinda makes a mockery of putting all our results in a chart when we all answered different questions though, eh?
  9. I didn't get that question Mine were all really hard ;-)
  10. Some people seem to have become very worked up over this thread, subscription to GC.com is very cheap, and if a cache owner (yes, owner) decided to make all their caches members only then that is really down to them. They paid for the container and the goodies inside, they travelled to the location and hid it, so they have every right to do exactly what they want with the listing. I consider logging your visit online a way of thanking the cache owner and letting them know you have visited, its something you do for them in return for the fact they have left a cache for you to find. At the end of the day you went out and found the cache, so you completed the caching experience as they intended, to then moan and try to publicly vilify them for altering their own listing is a bit much IMHO, especially when a direct email could probably have resolved the situation in the first place.
  11. I remember trying to find that coin, it would have been my first geocoin find. It was actually missing on Oct 9th, glad its turned up again!
  12. Jammon mofo! Cryptik Souls in the house y'all, and in the pub, writing on their cryptik fivers! It's all down to Mrs miknik and her Findlizzy fixation... Previous to today her outlook on the idea was: "I'll keep logging notes until we get a hit on one, then I'll be happy" Today it's a different story.... Perhaps logging into the site to log notes should be mandatory?
  13. A letterbox hybrid is a normal geocache which also contains a rubber stamp. The idea is you have a stamp of your own and a notebook of your own and when you find it you stamp your stamp in the cache logbook and stamp the cache stamp in your notebook, creating a collection of stamps for yourself and adding to the collection in the cache logbook.
  14. I would disagree with that, I've never seen it happen. If you have upgraded to premium membership you can run a pocket query to show you only members only caches, I just ran mine and it found 7 in the UK. As an afterthought, I have created one of these new bookmark things showing you them - Click here
  15. The "no surcharge" rule is a fairly recent addition, it hasn't always been the case. Everyone says paypal is expensive, they charge 3.9%+20p per transaction. Find me a cheaper credit card processing merchant for low volume users, now there's a challenge for you all... Right, enough of this, I'm off to the Post Office to post my eBay goodies out....
  16. If you took my posting to mean that I have a low opinion of you because of your selling practices on eBay then I fear you may have misconstrued my comments. I am mainly a seller on eBay and am very careful to not overcharge people for postage, simply because I resent being overcharged myself. Charging for p+p is fine, as long as the charge reflects the actual cost to post the item, and on the occasions I have sold items and estimated postage costs too high I will refund the difference to the buyer. Your argument that its ok because your charges are all up front and disclosed to the buyer isn't really valid as exactly the same can be said about eBay's fee structure. Please don't take this as a personal attack, Im just sharing my opinion and general mindset I use when browsing eBay. I used to add a surcharge of 3.5% for people paying by paypal, I've found scrapping that and sometimes offering free p+p can increase the final bid price by more than enough to make up for it, suggesting to me that many other eBay users think like me. cryptiksouls - 138 feedback, 100% positive.
  17. OK gang, I can offer you a choice of high and low res versions of the video... Click here for Simply Paul in all his glory!
  18. Your logic appears to be - eBay rip you off, so you rip your customer off to make up for it? Sounds like poor business practice to me. I would never bid on something with extortionate p+p charges on principle. If you aren't happy with the amount your item will sell for then set your starting price higher or put a reserve on it. Anyway, it's not like the auction in this thread is offering dog tags for 1p and then inflating the postage to make up for it, they are just plain overcharging.
  19. I just weighed 2 of my travel bug tags, they tipped the scales at a whole 9.44g. I emailed the seller to ask why so much for postage, if I get a reply which I deem to be amusing enough I will share it with you all...
  20. Sky+ box ready to go, will capture it and upload it tomorrow night for your entertainment pleasure.
  21. No-one houses have burnt down, there have been 7 cases of people getting a mild burn on their hand, there have been a total of 23 reported problems. With about 18 million xboxes out there the chances of you getting struck by lightning are greater, that doesn't mean you shouldn't carry an unbrella in the rain.... This is breaking news, Im sure Microsoft will inform people in due course, give them a chance! While I think Stonefisk could have addressed his approach differently I have to say I agree with his point, this isn't the place for such things and if lots of people posted everything they thought important we would end up with a useless forum. Time to close this thread I think
