  1. Pocket Queries will help a bit with this. They'd be a lot more help if cachers would use attributes PROPERLY, but that's a different thread.
  2. You'll likely have to download and re-install GPXView. Or GPXSonar, or Cachemate, if you prefer.
  3. I'm pretty sure Delome's topo software allows you to route along trails. This will only help you if the trail is on the map, OR you have a GPS track of the trail and can draw it into the maps. GPSBabel can then convert the route to a .gpx you can upload to use with the "caches along a route" feature.
  4. Don't over-plan. Remember many of us come to event to socalize with our fellow cachers, and don't need to have events or activities planned for every minute of the event.
  5. Not really. All the cache owner has "control" over is the description text, and the ability to delete or encrypt logs to the cache. The rest of the page the owner can't do anything about. You can't keep people from logging travel bugs into your cache, or remove the evidence that they were there, can't get rid of the gc.com links, can't change the maps.....Bookmark list can remain under the control of the list owner. cache ownere can mark bug as missing removing all evidence on the cache page that it was there. Gc stuff is not cache owners stuff, you sort of have to accept that. You can mark a bug missing, and it removes it from the cache page, but there's still the "see the history" link, that shows the bug was there. Bookmark lists are not cache owners stuff, either. Guess you sort of have to accept that.....

  7. I agree with CR, bookmark lists should only be able to be edited by the creator of the list. If the creator of the list chooses to make the list known to the public, then that's his/her choice and nobody else should have a say in it.
  8. Short answer No. Long answer. Create a new account with the name you want. Go through and re-log all your finds. Use the cache adoption procedure to transfer your cache hides to the new account. Hope that Groundspeak will transfer your premium membership to the new account.
  9. I've done a few. Not my favorites, but as long as the cache page makes it clear up front, and it's hidden in a way that it's obvious you're in the right property, I don't mind as much. If you're gonna do it, don't stick it on the line between your property and your neighbor's though...... And now that's he's posted, I remember Doc's as one of the better ones. Quite obvious that you're in the right yard.
  10. The GPS that comes with MS S&T (or the one that comes with Delorme Street Atlas, a better program in my opinion) is a "mouse" reciever, you can't send anything to it, so EasyGPS probably doesn't look to it for anything. I haven't used S&T in years, but I recall having to use GPSBabel to convert the files to .csv (or S&T pushpin) then import that file into S&T.
  11. Put the cache on your watch list. I bet it'll get archived soon, unless the unlikely happens, and the owner pops in a fixes it up. Heck, even go out and scout the spot you want to hide your cache and work on getting good coordinates. When you get the e-mail that the cache has been archived, run out and hide yours and then get the page sumbitted for review.
  12. PA already has a good memorial cache located at the site of the memorial near Shanksville, PA.
  13. I'm actually suprised it's not already common. Especially in areas near airports.
  14. Here's some even better news for anyone wondering where they stand with the challenge. There are Delorme Street Atlas files, a google earth kml file, a .gpx file and a Garmin Mapsource file showing the approximate boundaries for the pages. All the files are being hosted on the Central PA Geocachers website.
  15. Probably the same permission the DOT gave for all the rest area caches, or the chain stores gave for the parking lot micros.........
  16. You want to look to Maryland, if you want a Project APE cache. Consider the Gaithersburg, MD/Washington, DC/Baltimore MD areas. Personally, I prefer Gaithersburg when I need to stay in that area. Link to Project Ape cache If you decide to stay in Maryland, check out the Maryland Geocaching Society.
  17. Heh....wait until he sees Briansnat's post count....
  18. N 40 20.240, W 78 31.121 53.11 miles from home.
  19. Hmmm...if the helicopter option is out, I guess we'll have to sky-dive in.
  20. Both the owner of the bug/coin and the owner of the cache it's listed in have the ability to "mark as missing" which takes it out of the cache's listing and "moves" it to an "unknown location".
  21. Sounds more to me like they're only concerned about upping their smilie count....
  22. The Jeeps are gone now, but this happened with one of my caches, as well. No coins in the cache, but there were 2 green Jeeps, and other travel bugs.
  23. Well, it's not like the FTF is going to take the cache home. Just because you may not be first doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a shot. Everyone needs to find at least one cache in each section of the map. All caches except events and locationless count. Sounds like a pretty level playing field to me.
  24. I wouldn't. It's posted, they'll see it. Some of us even have an "instant notify" set up for events.
  25. Meh, I just wish someone would log mine. All appear to now be missing.
