    Tremblant

I guess you're talking about the Mount-Tremblant (and the city near it)... You might want to try the Géocaching-Québec Forum. Just ask your question in English in the "Commentaires" section.
  3. Well then no. Windows uses the FAT32 file system (a relic in computing) while Mac OS uses HFS+ (which is better). Unless you've installed a plugin in Windows, it won't work.
  4. What is it a "hybrid" of? A GPSr and what? Runs on ethenol and batteries. Gives you about 24hrs battery time. -WW Hydrogen fuel cells would be cool too. Just buy a can of H2, plug it in the recharge hole. Instant charge and at least 12 hours battery time. For real, an hybrid GPS is a mix between a road and a trail unit. Like the Colorado or the Magellan Crossover.
  5. I guess that PocketPCs just don't work with Macs. Or if they do, very little. Microsoft just doesn't like Apple.
  6. And what about Macintosh support? Garmin promised us Mapsource for 2007: nothing has happened (except Mapconvert and Mapinstall, that are almost useless because you need a PC). We're december 18th. I hope there will be full Mac OS support this time.
  7. As I read from the MacCaching website... Palms work and Pocket PC's don't. And you need Cachemate on the Palm. If you have an iPod you can use it too.
  8. As for the Mac compatibility... - Yes, you can click on the "Send to GPS" button. There is a Mac OS Firefox/Safari plugin that will work. Mac OS 10.3.9 minimum. - But, if you want to use your Pocket Queries (as you're apparently premium), you will need something to send .gpx files to your GPS. That can be done with MacCaching or GeoJournal. 10.3.9 too. But be aware that the first solution only works with USB units. The other requires a serial-to-USB converter if you really wish to use the eTrex Legend (blue).
  9. Well... You didn't Google the answer, so I guess it's ok. Lac Mistassini is Quebec's largest, with an area of 2335 square kilometers. Quite large. Your turn
  10. Lake Saint-Jean is the third in area with 1041 sq/km. It actually was much smaller before they build the dams, but still it's not artificial (as it existed before). Lake Manicouagan was much smaller too before they built the dams. The island in the centre would have appeared then. (I didn't know that). But no, it's not Quebec's largest. I think that even if a lake has become larger because of dams, they are still natural lakes. They can not really be called reservoirs. Lakes that didn't exist before can, however.
  11. A little geography With the exception of the hydroelectric reservoirs, which is Quebec's largest lake?
  12. I'll say (with my terrific calculations based on a circle on paper, a ruler and an angle protractor) that the radius at 45° latitude is about 0.7 (0.697). The latitude where the radius is 0.5 would be between 55 and 57 degrees (as my method didn't offer a maximum of precision). But I may be wrong (edited for spelling)
  13. Si tu veux qu'il soit repérable sur geocaching.com, tu devras acheter un Travel Bug Dog Tag (l'étiquette en métal). Ça coûte environ 6 $ CAN. Un Géocoin, c'est environ 9$ US (8.99$ CAN).
  14. Happy birthday Cinemajim and Chevy57 !!!!!
  15. In my area, there isn't many winter caches so I'll just sit down and wait patiently. Seriously, I do a lot of snowshoeing in winter (and maybe I'll start cross-country skiing). Maybe I'll go look for some caches but it won't be even once a week.
  16. For me too, and for most people, it's way slower than it was. I guess that the new code and the addition of Topo maps make it more CPU intensive... If you have a My Garmin account you can use their Cache Loader to seek caches (woks via google maps too)
  17. Maybe not! In Quebec, we just started receiving coins. (Ohio is closer, though. Maybe you really missed them.)
  18. Well in this case with a barometric altimeter you can rely on it (unless you need sub-meter precision). When calculated only with the GPS system, altitude is a "feature".
  19. ESA says that it's not fully operationnal. In Quebec WAAS is fully working and I can get as low as 2 meters (6' 7") of accuracy. So when both the sats and the WAAS/EGNOS signals are good, it'll go low. When sat signals are weak it does not really help.
  20. The GPS system is not 100% accurate! Due to many factors (atmospheric errors, clock errors, calculation errors, poor reception, not to say all of them) the normal accuracy is about 7 meters (about 20 feet). In the best conditions, you can get about 2 meters (6.5 feet) and in the woods, with very poor reception, 10 meters and more (33+ feet). About what sould have been made different... he sure made a mistake. If he was far enough (100 feet and more) the GPSr should bring him in the good direction, good enough to see his car when coming close to the waypoint. EDIT: I read your post again and I would clarify a point. Yellow eTrexes have normal sensitivity receptors and patch antennas. It's perfectly normal that they perform less in wooden areas. Newer units should perform better in the same situation.
  21. I wonder... Does every one that requested a coin will receive one? (In that case the form would have disappeared after 500 submissions)
