  1. For the last several days, I've noticed that when uploading drafts from my GPSMAP 64sx, the website no longer ignores drafts that were previously uploaded and logged. The only way I could stop it from doing this was to delete the "geocache_visits.txt" file from the GPS. But I would have to do this every time after uploading Drafts. Is anyone else seeing this? Or did I do something to cause it to behave this way? I never had this problem before.
  2. I've been having the same problem: some solved puzzle caches with corrected coords show up as corrected on the App, and some don't. My phone is an LG K10 (a.k.a LG-K428), Android V 7.0, Kernel 3.10.49, SW version K24820k. Geocaching App version 6.2.0 I haven't tried re-installing the app, but that's my next step. Of course C:Geo works in this regard just fine... ahem.
  3. I've enjoyed the virtuals I've found in National parks as well, but getting out there (to the Olympic Penninsula, or Rainier) is a pain for me these days, and I should visit the site before I place this cache. I've got another spot in mind, east of the Cascades. There's a traditional cache near there now, but more than 530 ft away from where'd I'd place a virtual (and it's been prone to muggling). I also found a great book: Washington Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities & Other Offbeat Stuff by Harriet Baskas, which has all sorts of interesting places in Washington. I'm still looking at it to see it there's any other spots I might want to consider a little closer to home.
  4. Well, It looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. I got notification from HQ this morning, that I've gotten a Virtual Reward cache to deploy. Now I've done a few hides over the years that people have enjoyed, but I must admit that the incubation period for cache ideas is a long one for me - guess I'm not a natural born prolific creative type. So I'm looking for ideas, having never deployed anything like this before. Since maintenance isn't as much of an issue with virtuals, I'm guessing close proximity isn't a big deal, but perhaps the ability to check on the place once in a while (or if an issue comes up) is a good thing. I live in the Bothell, WA area, so anything in the Puget Sound area is probably OK, but where? What kinds of places here deserve a cache, but are unable to host a physical? Thanks for your thoughts! 5. OK. Problem solved. After wading through the 5 pages of the thread on the Labs Caches, I came to the statement that they can be deleted from your profile. Which I did. Since they're not fully supported as a cache type, as far as I'm concerned they're not a real find. Mind you they *were* fun, and I don't regret doing them one bit, I might even do them again next year at the Block Party. But unless they become fully official, I'll probably not log them.
  6. The little box in the extreme upper right of every cache page that says: Hello, LostSparky (Sign Out) Premium Member 1,602 Caches Found seems to be overcounting my caches by an ever increasing amount. When I download a My Finds query, it says I have 1596 caches. GSAK agrees. When I look at the Statistics tab on my public profile, it also says 1596. I think this has been going on for quite a while, as I remember using the box to figure out when my 1500th cache would be, only to find out later that what I thought was my 1500th was only 1497 (that was back in September). This has probably been addressed before, but I wasn't able to find it in all the snow from the search on "MyFinds stats" Oh, and BTW, no I do not have multiple finds on the same cache. And the 1602 number also shows up on the first page of my public profile, next to the big smiley face, and on the stats bar on the quick view profile page.
  7. I have a slightly different problem: Using the Leaflet default, my pointer turns into a "hand" and I get a pop-up of the cache name when I hover over a cache and a pop-up when I click on it, when using the default Mapquest maps. When, however I switch to any other of the map options (Cloudmade, Mapquest Aerial, OSM, OCM), my pointer no longer changes to a hand, there is no name pop-up, and nothing happens when I click. If I switch to Google maps default, then all is OK. (with pop-ups and click on cache) This behavior only occurs with Google Chrome, things work OK with IE 8.
  8. KX7L Another for the list. I'm not active much on VHF FM, but I was one of the ops at GW8. I guess I was the one who made a few contacts on 20, if W7WT is still following this. Sorry we missed you. I don't think we had much of a signal. Spent most of our time working the attendees on 2m. I know EFHutton is a ham, I worked him at GW8 but I can't remember Dave's call I think so is Hike a Photo. I don't know his call though Charlie/LostSparky
  9. I plan on attending GW, I've filled out the app on the web page, but I too, am curious, what sort of station are you planning to set up? Talk-in on VHF? HF station? (Gee, two hobbies at the same time!) LostSparky (aka KX7L)
  10. Here in the Seattle area, it appears that a notification for GC24WE6 "Collie" did not go out when it published last night (March 10). I just happened to see a "new" flagged cache on my "closest to home" list, (and managed to beat out the usual FTF crazies the next morning.) Two other cachers also reported not getting a notification on this cache. A couple months ago the same thing happened on a cache I placed: GC23B03, As cache owner, I got a notification that it had been published, but after 4 hours went by with no FTF I began to wonder. Eventually several people told me that they had gotten no notification on it. It may mean nothing, but I know I did change the "placed" date on my cache before I submitted it (it took a few days to get everything right) LostSparky
