  1. Out-of-towners come into your community to do a little geocaching and find themselves in the most disgusting places, with garbage over flowing from the dumpsters, oil/slime on the ground, homeless/drug addicts sleeping behind it, etc. Why do people keep putting caches in these places? Is that what they want people to think about their area? Barb
  2. I can't even begin the count the number of times we come upon a cache that obviously needs maintenance and see when logging in others mention it, but NEVER LOG A 'NEEDS MAINTENANCE' in. Does everyone assume the owner reads the logs each day? Barb
  3. We've noticed that a lot of the geocaches have a terrain rating that seems way to low given the difficulty bushwhacking the way through the growth to reach them. We did the Cabot trail and up at the top was one rate Terrain 1 - but it was down a pretty steep slope about 50 meters from the parking area with vegetation that was waist high or higher. I always thought that the Terrain 1 rating meant that someone with disabilities could probably get to it. Also noticed that people seem to think nothing of having you hike 200 meters along side a busy road and then 90 meters or so into the brush and list it as a Terrain 1.5. I realize that during the fall and spring these are probably easier, but if you want tourists to find your caches maybe a more rational Terrain rating would help.
  4. It happened to us again today - - had another cache where you needed to have specific information about the area that are not available on standard maps, etc. And this was a multi-cache. Wouldn't be so bad if we were in the area and could go back and try some of the gravel backroads, but we aren't. So why don't the cache owners ever think of out-of-towners who might be hunting? I am also tired of caches right up against highways with big trucks wizzing past at 60-70 mph. We don't do those anymore - my life is worth more than getting some cache.
