  1. Personally, I think this is one of the coolest parts of geocaching, that the caches become these little pieces of shared history. I've only hunted a couple caches, but I log DNF. -Sam
  2. I appreciate the aspect of the game that involves secrecy, but so far (i'm really new at this) I don't mind telling people what I'm up to as long as I'm not right about to pull out a cache. That said, I was in San Antonio recently and a police officer was walking by just as I was about to pull out the container. I was a little concerned that he might think it was drugs or something so I pretended to take pictures of a radio tower until he left. -Sam
  3. My first reaction on reading the guidelines was "uh oh..." since if this cache is rejected than some of the ones I was thinking about eventually listing are also off limits. I don't have much of an interest in biblically themed caches, but I do have an interest in local and urban agriculture and "green mapping" both of which could be interpreted as pushing environmental agendas. Given that I would be interested in developing these partly to introduce other people to some ideas that I find fun and interesting, I certainly don't have a problem with someone else doing the same thing with what they find of value. Obviously there's a pragmatic line somewhere in here that's going to be difficult to define, as it probably should be, but I don't think these caches cross it.
  4. I'd been interested in doing this for a little while, as well as some of the community mapping projects (i.e. green mapping) that can be combined with GPS, but I just got started last month. I found a couple virtuals, but I got my first physical cache a few days ago while visiting my sister in San Antonio! The thrill of pulling the container out from under the leaves and brush...wow. I think my favorite part is the exploration, and the treasure hunting is almost an excuse to do that. I wound up in a really cool part of San Antonio looking for a virtual that I never would have seen if I hadn't been following someone's coordinates for a place they thought was interesting. Plus you can practice your ninja skills to avoid detection when unearthing the physicals. Good times. -Sam
