  1. HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden Internet Explorer HTC TP2/WM6.1 Interesting, Opera says "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/ . Wouldn't it be nice if all content providers offered such a transparent API transaction.
  2. I want to personally thank Bryan for taking the time to respond to the thread and shed some light on the issue. I have new hope we might get our favorite Geocaching interface back. As for Groundspeak protecting it's intellectual property rights, I have no problem with that what-so-ever. That being said, I have to say that it was a bit confusing for me to be directed to and read the Geocaching.com Waypoint License Agreement only to subsequently find-out there was another Terms of Service agreement which seemed to contradict the "DOWNLOADING THE ONLINE DATA" force of the WLA. Having attempted to specialize in intellectual property law in law school and abandon the idea, I will admit I am no expert. As a paying member I took it at face value that I was using the data for personal use, and not doing anything wrong using Tom's WM app. I suppose we were all lucky to have the site upgrade alert us to Groundspeak's legal claim. I wish the Groundspeak team luck in the future. I will not be renewing my membership since it does not give me what I want. If the Geocaching live app could be stabilized, I would stay on, but without that other, more fulfilling app, the experience is tantamount to going back to a banana seat.
  3. mention of unauthorized software deleted by moderator See the previous thread "HTC PRO using xxxxxx" The new Geocaching website changes temporarily broke this app but if past history means anything, the author should have it fixed in a day or two. DrRounds2 I cannot believe there is such a rapid explanation for losing my main GC'ing app but greatful to hear that the problem's not local. I sincerely hope GC'ing programmers don't repeatedly kill known, stable portals to the site data that third party apps utilize. GC'ing LIVE just isn't ready and I wonder how long we'll have to wait. TMO TP2; WM6.1
  4. We've come-up with a pretty annoying problem using Google Earth in real-time following position with a layer of .gpx data that have time stamps. It seems that the time span function in GE is interfering with the GPX layer being displayed at the same time we follow path automatically in real time. Since the time function uses the specified time type (three choices, UTC, zone and computer) it may be impossible to display GC data time stamped prior to the actual, real time clock on the machine. While there is a split slider to spread the range of time to display POI/Layers, in this case GPX Geocache data, the slider automatically advances the rear-end to present time once it gets it's next trackable point from the GPSR. Help, suggestions requested. Subsequent additional information: The time slider options include an animation function that when activated cycles the GPX data in real time essentially working-around the display issue. Strange anecdote; date stamps in the future appear to push the slider foward in time as well.
  5. Kind of like "discovering" travel bugs you've never seen? i recently became physically disabled and thought it would be fun to browse and discover tb's online; happy caching...
  6. Have had hostile players that could not find a container serial post a find log in-spite-of not finding and signing the log; would like to be able to prohibit/block specified user accounts from accessing the page. Even Twitter has a block button in-spite-of their down-time. Seems like a simple matter of common-sense/security and would probably limit conflicts.
  7. Another discussion thread about the problem with google maps: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=8&t=182703 This is a major bummer since the layering of cache data on top of the interactive maps is a central function of the website. Wondering if the MS Virtual Earth components have anything to do with it? Anybody else suspecting that as the conflict?
  8. Chiming in on this because I feel like Groundspeak deserves a little support on what they do well. Please accept our appology in advance if this reply is not perfectly on-point, but first off, it's not at all surprising that a format like 'ebook' (whatever application software) is going the way of the dinosaur, for whatever reason. I never liked the sluggish PPC interface anyway. This software antiquation problem is nothing new across the industry spectrum. What is really the truth here is that the .gpx format is as comprehensive a proprietary format can be, in my humble opinion. We're using BeeLineGPS and GPXSonar on the Pocket PC importing the same PQ data and it's truly excellent. Our hardware, actually given to us by HP is the Ipaq H6315; the first really do-it-all in-one device. For about five years now, this thing's got Bluetooth GPS integration with the address book, IE and cell phone. The constant reinvention of the wheel is something I'm sure we all wonder about, but it's probably a fact-of-life there's nothing consumer-level users can do a darn thing about! That is our two cents for now.
  9. Thanks for the info; surprised just how quick you found it. So am I to understand that there is a datasheet on the BM? I understand that Groundspeak might not have it in the database for various reasons, but it's curious to me how you were able to come up with good info so quickly; I really would like to see more than a map.
  10. Have found a 1938 benchmark on the Platte River pioneers trail near Denver Colorado that does not exist in the official datasheets. Wondering if I can challege anybody out there to prove me wrong. A Granite Monument was errected by the State of Colorado next to the disk commemerating the trail's 1820-1840 significance! Coordinates I got at 7' accuracy were N39.79144 W104.95938 and the BM has 5158.62 FEET, BM NO 58.
