  1. Nice idea, despite the fact that we continiously clean up our forests we'll combine this with GC. Here's our contribution : http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=60278 hello

  3. As mentioned some time ago, we created a TB with an integrated Compact Flash Card. Due to the poll result of this Forum, che chose the CF crad, despite its size. Our TB's name is ARTIST and he will collect averything he finds that has to do with art... (bodypainting ??) We all wish him good luck http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=30979 How about the others who sent a memory card on the way, did it return or was it immediately stol...eh lost? hello [This message was edited by Sc out on March 24, 2003 at 03:02 AM.]
  4. Personally I think that it's a pitty that most of users have an empty Profile Page. A few lines and maybe a small picture would be enough to complete the page. Why do most people leave that page empty hello
  5. quote: I hate it when they give spoilers in their logs Yes, you're right sometimes people should think twice. But sometimes caches aren't so abvious to find, and if somebody wants to give a small hint, he should mention that in the Subject line ! We had that problem, that the original cache coordinates were wrong, only the log of another cacher warned us, otherwise we would have serached for hours with no result. The cache Owner was on a business trip, unable to correct the problem. hello
  6. I tried various times with my GPSMAP76 S , normal 3D GPS and differential 3d GPS. Both times, the calculated position was absolutely correct and only 3-5 meters away from where it should be. My GPS was never as accurate as today. hello
  7. Difficult question. I think that it's good to support our hobby financially. On another hand I think that's ok too that everybody can use it freely. And than again I'm happy that others clearly see that I support GC by giving me some special features. But... members only caches... I'm not sure what to say. What I will try this summer, is to create a multi cache with one part for members only. But... again we are discussing much about that, since GC is a community, there shouldn't be separations between people. But than again how can you underline that some people pay freely and others do not. Well, well, well, as I said difficult question. hello
  8. As far as I know, the creator of the cache is free to delete any of the logs. Ask him, maybe he has deleted your entry. hello
  9. Of course you're right !! And I would be the last one to reject money. But I simply wanted to ... yes... eh... what did I want to say? Yes, money isn't everything... but sometimes hehehe... Money is great , geocaching is great. So a cache with money is even greater !! hello
  10. What a brilliant post : quote: Second of all, whatever the article was talking about looks stupid. Some Germans kids, In MY opinion "Searching_ut" is right hello
  11. We went out to find 6 Caches .... AND DID FIND NOTHING !!! The reason is that we stopped at the first place we arrived, weather was fine, sun shining, nobody around to annoy us. We didn't continue our quest and stayed the whole week-end at a lake and had a GREAT TIME ! Geocaching is so fun hello
  12. We always carry a first aid kit around... but never thought about a first aid kit for Caches !! Nice idea, for the future... hello
  13. I had the same experience, not so far away from civilization. I was next to Arlon, a city in Belgium, in th evening, without GSM, Mag Lite and the Track Back function of my GPS switched off to get more battery power. The cache was 250 meters away from my car. I left the car with the lights switched off. I lost my track, didn't find the cache and got back to the car after one hour of desperate searches . I went back to the same cache two weeks later, daylight, great weather, GPS track back ON. I found the cache... and when I went back I was wrong again. AT THE SAME PLACE I NEARLY GOT LOST THE SECOND TIME ! Only my Garmin indicated me the right way. Since I was on top of a huge hill and the forest was very dense, I went down the wrong side. So from that day on I always have spare batteries, a mag lite, GPS plot function ON, and a GSM with me when I got caching. This is important not only for deep forests! hello
  14. Well first of all thanks to follow_M to have given us this information. I personally never heard anything about this. I think that I will print out all the informations, and read them SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY at home! Things always change, and I don't understand why there is so much criticism around. If you're not interested in this simply DO NOT READ IT! but please stop crying around. tell us your opinion and may be also your arguments and than let it be. Do not blame somebody for having posted a new idea !! hello
  15. I would never criticise somebody who has new ideas and works for the comunity of geocachers withour eraning anything. But I personally always tried to keep the money factor out of this. So why should anybody be paid for finding your cache ... hello
  16. TSET TSES I tsuj detnaw ot eb tenreffid. eheheh hello
  17. 1. How did you find out/start geocaching? I saw a report on TV, a local German sender from Theinland Pfalz 2. Who/what got you started geocaching? ?? my passion for the great outdoors maybe ?? 3. How often you do it? talking about caching or what ? real caches twice a month 4. How long have you been doing it? december 2002 5. Spending amounts: a. Price of GPS garmin extrex summit, don't know the price anymore b. Placing a cache tupperware + Co. so as cheap as possible. Vandalism is an important problem here in Luxembourg c. other equipment and prices (lights, ropes, etc) Speleo and hiking equipment, but as a scout we do have most of the equipment. hello
  18. Salut,... vu que le net est grand et le monde petit, je recherche und personne (M/F) qui habiterait à Drusenheim (en alsace) Merci hello
  19. I also Did something Stupid... 2 years ago. Doesn't anybody know a link that could help me ?? PS: but don't tell my wife! hello
  20. I also got lost one month ago, I used my GPS but since my batteries were very low I switched the track Back function OFF. Then I went out of my car, in the middle of an unknown forest (in the middle of the night) , without Mag Lite, without cell phone... the cache was only a few hundred meters away. The result is obvious, I didn't find the cache and desperately searched my car for about one hour. I went back last week-end and guess what... i found the cache but without my Garmin I would have bee lost a second time !! This time the sun was bright and the TRACK BACK function was ON. I was sure to walk in the correct direction but my GPS told me that I was not. The device corrected my walk back to my car two times, Everything looked the same, and since I was on top of a hill, I didn't know where to go... Believe me, I've bee a (maybe bad ) boyscout for about sixteen years,... but since last week-end's experience, my Garmin will always follow me, no matter where I go. hello
  21. Just for information, our cache needs two secret codes , the first one unlocks a gate to our scout ground, which protects the cache from intruders, and the second codes opens the box, WHICH PROTECTS THE CACHE FROM SCOUTS !! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=54392 hello
  22. quote: I am glad to see that others are reciving hate mail to. I knew I was not alone, Well JoGps, well well well, there's nothing to say. Today I woke up from dis-illusion and found out that peace is impossible, even in such a simple thing like forums. In my opinion it's so childish to be angry because of the fact that others got something that had been denied to you. I simply thought having a great idea, and in fact I only collected STORM! what a pitty.... hello
  23. It's a pitty, but since we try to keep our caches clean and family - friendly... a beer-cache wouldn't be such a great idea. Or did anybody have that idea before ? PS: i'll leave work in 3 hours, and I know what I'll do then
  24. We drink BOFFERDING BEER ! And if you do not import it we'll have to drink it alone. (hehehe...) (as shown on the picture on the left )
