  1. It seems to happen most frequently on images that have been downloaded from Waymarking or Geocaching. The geocaching site also occasionally chokes when trying to upload an image that was downloaded from their own servers. The fix is to load the image into whatever your favorite image software might be and re-save it under a different name; the new copy always uploads just fine.
  2. It appears to be back to "normal" now.
  3. Back in 2017 the Google Maps API changed and this is what we all saw. Fortunately the wizards at Groundspeak got it fixed so that just plain mouse zoom would zoom the map and all was well for three years. But now this issue has returned with the two "Google" map options. The "Geocaching" map is not affected. Back then, the fix was to change the default for gestureHandling from "cooperative" (requires two fingers on a touch screen, or CTRL + scroll on a PC) to "greedy" which is the old way. But I do not know if this is the case now, three years later.
  4. Interesting. I make a lot of use of "corrected coordinates" and always get that marker as soon as I enter the CCs and refresh the map page. It's never taken more than a minute.
  5. $30 a year to Groundspeak is pretty much the least of my geocaching expenses. What few "easy" traditionals I have out are PMO, just to keep them from getting muggled by people who download the app and look for caches to steal. Anything that requires some effort (solve a puzzle, long hike through the nature preserve, break out your kayak, whatever) is regular.
  6. This was asked (mystery or multi) a while back at an event where a couple of reviewers were present and their answer was, in part: If there's something at the posted coords that you need (whether set there by the CO or not) to proceed, it's a multi. If there's nothing at the posted coords that you need to proceed, it's a mystery. The cachers around here tend to work this way but there are plenty of exceptions. For example I do a lot of cemetery "mystery" caches where the posted coords are the marker with the info that you need to continue, so technically I suppose that's a multi.
  7. Well for some caches you want the corrected coordinates on found caches to show on the map, and for others you don't (for example, I want my found geo art to look like the art, using the posted coordinates). Seems to me one way might be to put a checkbox on the page ("Always map using corrected coordinates") that defaults to un-checked (the current status) and then users could pick and choose.
  8. I was going to see if the listings at the National Park Service were going to replace it but lo and behold NationalRegisterOfHistoricPlaces.com was up and running today. But it was not last week. Hmmmmmmm........
  9. Can the page not be edited to reflect these changes?
  10. And now we are at 1121. Both grids are full, with one extra.
  11. Hmmm. Geocaching was giving errors as well ("Something went wrong with this upload..." like that is really helpful). Rebooted everything and now it works. Go figure.
  12. I get this error with every attempt to upload an image today.
  13. It is hilarious. They are just sort of dribbling in. Got an FTF notification on my new cache that was right on time, then an hour later got notification of a note for the same cache that was actually posted yesterday.
  14. LOL Just got an email notification for a geo message that was sent (and received) two days ago.
  15. Looks like Message Center is also having issues; no conversations will load in the preview pane at all. It just spins and spins and spins and finally fails out with an error message.
  16. Notifications are trickling in. There were several new caches published this morning in my area; I got one notification this morning and one a few minutes ago. The rest are out in cyberspace somewhere. ALSO - Message Center won't load any conversations. I will post that in another thread since that is a more different broken thing.

  18. At least it's a signal from Groundspeak that challenges are back in their good graces.
  19. Interesting. My email account for notifications is also Yahoo, and I haven't received any since last night, from geocaching or Waymarking even though several notification worthy events occurred (waymarks published, caches found...).
  20. Found a nice "sculpture" constructed of bikes and trikes, and painted green. Is this something can be waymarked? And if so, which category? Abstract sculptures is pretty loose but that might be a bit much even for them. https://www.officialkidsmag.com/2019/09/01/weird-wonderful-recycled-cycle-art-in-the-ozarks/
  21. Hmmm. I leave geocaching.com tabs open for days and weeks at a time with no problem, on several computers. Chrome, no extensions, but an aggressive ad blocker. So this makes me think that it is one (or more) of the ads that is the culprit.
  22. Came to report this myself. Did some caching, attended an event, did more caching (and logging everything from the phone as they were found) but the event floats to the top of the list, as though it were the last one found.
  23. So... just leave it be for now and see what happens. That didn't even occur to me. I write a bit of production code from time to time (as a consultant) and just couldn't imagine that this was rolled out to the live server without it working the way they intended it to right off the bat.
  24. So we have some new attributes, which is nice. I'm assuming that this one is to indicate that your puzzle cache has the Groundspeak solution checker enabled. So why doesn't the attribute appear automatically if the checker is toggled on, and disappear if it is off?
