    Gif Jpg?

So, is Jeremy still working on this? I finally made a cache page that needed nice solid colors GIFs, and I got splotchy JPGs.
  2. Yes, you never know what you'll find. A friend and I were caching, closing in on ground zero, and Lou says "I found it". By the time I get to him, he gets a curious look and says "Uh, no, I didn't. Want some porn?" He had found a large ziploc with 20-50 badly-printed inkjet pictures. The cache was about 5 feet from there! We trashed them out but it still makes for a great story.
  3. Thanks guys! I don't know what program you used to make those maps, but it looks great! Appreciate the help.
  4. Something like a street map with caches overlaid on it. Nothing real fancy.
  5. I've been trying to figure out the best way to get caches in Sydney and Melbourne onto a street map. So I'm asking you locals for help! Thanks in advance.... and see you later this summer... er... winter!
  6. That's exactly what I want. Care to share that code so I can put it on my own server? Since it isn't running on GC.com, I'd rather not give out my password. Thanks Unfortunately, my thoughts exactly. I have no reason to think anything would be amiss, but these days you can't take the chance.
  7. You don't have to be limited to 500 miles. For your Origin/Within choice, select States, then inside that list click Alabama, scroll to the bottom of the list, shift-Click Yukon Territory. Click outside the box. You now have selected the US and Canada as your "area of interest". If you want US only, you'd have to Control-click each province to deselect it.
  8. I'd be happy with just a simple logging page that I could access from my cellphone browser: name & password cache id date found/notfound/note pulldown choice text-only log No travel bugs, no pictures, just a log. Other stuff can be added when you get home. All you'd have to add would be one webpage, eh?
  9. Don't forget that archived caches aren't included in your PQ. I have 300+ finds. I ran one where I clicked States and selected the whole list (click, scroll to end, Shift-click), which generated 230. I ran one where I clicked Origin and my home zip code @ 2000mi, and it generated 198. Strange.
  10. This has probably been discussed somewhere, but a search didn't find it. Just point me to it! Sorry! Is there any documentation for GSAK output templates? I can see what fields are included in the provided files, but is there a list of everything that's available? Thanks! > Martin
  11. Happened to me about a month ago. Fortunately a friend had had the SAME problem with his MeriGold, so he told me what the problem was. I was under warranty, so I shipped it back to Magellan (in Tulsa) and they sent it back fixed WITH a power/data cable, a new manual, a new manual CD, and new firmware.
  12. Thanks Rosco... just what I was looking for!
  13. I just uploaded a picture to go with a log entry, and after I did there's no indication on the cache page log entry that there is a picture associated with it. I see that the cache page was rendered "from memory", and I tried refreshing it, but no change. I know that log pages have changed recently, and I didn't know if this was an enhancement (a good thing) or a feature (a bug!). If it's an enhancement, it might be nice to have some indication (even if it's just a little camera or picture icon) attached to the log entry to indicate that there are pictures included. If it's just that the page hasn't settled itself, then nevermind! EDIT: I edited the log and added a word, and now the link to the picture shows up in the log entry on the cache page. Hmmmm....
  14. If you go to any cache that has more than 6 logs, it says there are 6 logs, and shows the last 6. If you hit View them all on one page, it refreshes the page, shows the correct total number of logs, and shows all of the logs. I think it should not say that there are only 6 logs. I'm sure it's a one-line bug.
  15. Dropping off a travel bug is not available for locationless caches either. I can't put one into the Travel Bug Graveyard now. _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? Get a TiVo!
  16. It might be a "basic addition" to you, but to the web editor it's a lot of headaches and rewrites. And non-members don't pay the bills. In my opinion, non-members should be happy they can get anything. $2+/month isn't much to ask for the amount of effort that goes into the site, and the amount of fun we get out of it. And yes, I also would like to have found/owned caches filterable out of the basic "nearest cache" listing. _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? 17. The TiVo forums banned stock talk for just this reason (they had a user that would sell TiVo stock short, then badmouth the equipment (even lie!) to drive the price down, then cash in). Stock talk just doesn't have a place here. If you want to help your friends make money, become a stockbroker and tell them in person. Posting it on a board like this just indicates that you want to drive the price up or down so you can personally make money off of it at the expense of others. Sorry, but there's really no other reason why someone would do it! _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? 18. I've done caches at Six Flags over Texas, Legoland, and Disney California Adventure: I was walking around with a MAP330 for hours, and no one even looked at me. If you act like you belong there with it, you're seldom questioned. One security person asked what it was at the entry checkpoint at SFoT, I told him it was a GPS receiver, and he said "oh, cool". I also keep the cache page with me so I can show it to them as proof of the game if they doubt me, but I don't show it unless required. I think you just got a bubba who hadn't had his donut yet. _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? 19. Actually, there's no need for THAT much waypoint-hiding. Instead of using something provided by YOU at each point, use something in the indigenous terrain. "If the plaque was dedicated in an even year, go to N xxx W xxx. If an odd year, go to N yyy W yyy." And so forth. You could even use the same waypoint early and late in the path, based on if they're on the right or wrong path. Finding the final cache would involve collecting info along the path, so you will only have the correct final coordinates if you followed the correct path. _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? 20. The other reason it would be nice to have My Locations is that you could have them available in Pocket Queries too. If I just save a bookmark with the location, what do I do if I'm at my Mom's in Atlanta (I live in Texas) and go to a library to look up caches? Gonna make me carry a floppy of "location" pages? _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? 21. You'd probably get a faster response if you emailed Jeremy and company with these questions. I use the link on the main page. _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? Get a TiVo!
  22. quote:Originally posted by Pantalaimon:I wanted a semi-hard cache to figure out where the coords are, but an easy cache to find once you had the coords. Well, this time you didn't do that. But next time you will! _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? Get a TiVo!

  25. I wouldn't. Just have one person log a "not found" for the group. Doesn't really matter, but keeps down the clutter. _____________________________________________________ > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching? Get a TiVo!
