  1. hmm ok thanks. I shall wait to see, however, I have a geocoin.. geocaching is the key that I carry about and let people discover.. It's as new as the TB but Last night had 3 discovers they logged last night and today but I didn't get a notification to say they discovered it.. Should I have done?
  2. I've just released a TB and I can't seem to find the option to watch it so that I get email notifications when it is logged as found or dropped. How can I watch it?
  3. Just double checked the cache and It actually says "bring and swap your travel bugs here" but nothing saying you must swap... my mistake.... I do agree that even if you can't help with the specific mission, it's good to move bugs and coins along especially if a caches isn't frequented so often!
  4. In my opinion TB are out there to travel... hence I don't like TB hotels as they can restrict travel... Yesterday for example, I found a TB hotel, the owners wishes were to only take a travel bug if you put one in.. ie swap... now I didn't have a TB with me to swap, so I didn't take one... that means the TB in that hotel are stuck their without continuing their journey until another cacher with TB's comes along. However, I did check the TB pages and found that I couldn't really have helped them on their journey anyway.. so me leaving them there wouldn't have been an problem. If I could have helped them on their way then swap or no swap I would have taken them!

Nice idea, there was one local to me which I had hoped to pick up, gut there and it wasn't there any longer, luckily someone had picked it up and just not logged it right away. It was a small mp3 player with the idea that you put your favourite song on it. Only issues are if it gets in the wrong hands and something not very nice is put on it.... or it gets stolen. Not sure how people will feel about making use of it... the risk of a virus when putting it into their pc etc..
  7. You can't add pictures as far as I know when you initially log the TB but if you go back and view the log in the top right hand corner above the date there is and Upload Image text click on that and you can then add a picture
  8. well in that case there aren't that many caches you can do .. a lot of the Central Southampton ones are multi's GCXDGG city walls doesn't require much walking though some googling before hand will help as there is currently work going on meaning you can't see the info panel for one of the questions. Side tracked and conduit house are trads that are fairly close together, another near by is Grandad's ditty box ... if you have time to solve the puzzle This map will give you the main ones: http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx...;zm=14&mt=m I hope that helps
  9. Are you in central Southampton? and are you only interested in doing traditional .. No multis or others? do you have a car for transport?
  10. I'm looking at sending out my first travel bug, But I'd really like it to have a custom icon. Is it possible to do this like with the coins?
  11. Just been through the series, reading the logs and making notes... I am time limited tomorrow so want to try and get them all in and a few extras on the way so planning ahead.
  12. Hey thanks for that, I know about the one on the 10th but I'm unable to make it.. but good to see what possible up and coming events are going on. Shame I hadn't got back into geocaching prior to the one that was very local! I'm planning on doing the Totally tooting series Tomorrow (Monday) between about 9.30 (arrival at first cache) and 2pm hopefully will get them all and a few others locally by 2pm as I have to head back for the school run. If anyone is interested in coming along, just let me know!
  13. That would like to meet up? Of course people out side Southampton are welcome too... I'm just trying to meet a few people local to me that might like to go caching.
  14. I'm pretty new to geocaching and in the UK and I have to admit I've been disappointed to find rubbish left in caches.. stuff like old batteries, broken pipe clips etc.. it might seem that it's marginally better to leave some crap than to take something and not leave anything in return. But really! if you or your kids really want something from a cache and you don't have anything worthwhile swapping then do everyone a favour and don't leave anything.. but do return to the cache at a later date and make a drop of something more suitable! I'm going to head off on a search of the forums in a minute to see what people do like finding in caches - as I have been pretty much a TNLN geocacher so far, I have had a look on the various site that sell geocaching stuff .. and their geoswag seems to be rather cheap, party bag stuff, which is a 5 minute wonder then binned! I'm currently looking for ideas for good swap swag that doesn't cost a fortune! I'd also like to my first cache hid to be a real quality one, so gathering ideas for that too. What's the view on finding caches that have rubbish in them.. is it ok to take and dispose of the crap leaving a nicer cache for others to find, or should the owner be messaged and informed and it left up to them to clear it out? I would love to be able to go round and clean out caches and leave some bits raising the general quality of caching swag.. but unfortunately I'm not made of money! Some one mentioned bubble water as a hate.. I have left a couple before... I have a little one, so it was toy swaps.. is there a reason for hating this? obviously I understand opened half used is not good as it can leak. But the ones i have left have been new and foil sealed so there should be no trouble with leaking!
