  1. Most of the lost place caches around here aren't legal in Germany, but they are using some loopholes in German jurisdiction ask the Germans about their most loved: A lot of them would answer: my car, my house, my wife or husband, and my children (in this order). Germans love their cars! The USA has one great advantage: a lot of space, with no muggles. Around here, there is always somebody living, or working. We just don't have that space. Lets take a look at some numbers: USA has a population 334.914.895 pax in 9.525.067 km² which means 34pax/km² Germany has a pupulation of 84.358.845 pax in 357.588 km² which means 236pax/km² which leads to a lot of problems, when people try to be sneaky searching around. At least in the 4 northern German states, in which we review, you'll have to have proper and documented permission for a power trail, esp. on public land. That's sometimes a real stopper for some projects.
  2. Sorry this is clear NO, it's not possible: The guidelines states: and So a DNF as a requirement is a nogo.
  3. We wouldn't this concept as it is right now, but there are just a few modification to make it publishable. How does that concept involves the use of exact gps coordinates, which is the key element of this hobby. Starting point can be anywhere in a approx. 40m radius which means 5,000m² -> No GPS Usage. Taht can be simply resolved with e.g:. a container at a different starting location whith a description ("Go to ->coordinates<- look for a blinking light") <- Concept would be a multi around here the final coordinates written in/on the light beacon, and the logbook at the new location <- would be a mystery around here Listing coordinates are the same as the light beacon, and a description says that one can simplify the search by looking for a blinking LED <- would be a tradional around here.
  5. but that: would make it a physical placement, and that wouldn't be allowed under currect ALC guidelines.
Inherent risks. The location-based activities facilitated by our services can be dangerous and may take you to difficult to access or potentially treacherous locations. When taking part in these location-based activities, you risk property damage, bodily injury, or death. There are many variables that must be considered including: weather, fitness level, terrain features, and outdoor experience. Be prepared and be sure to check the current conditions before heading outdoors. Always exercise common sense and caution. Presence of certain information within the Groundspeak services (e.g. the location of a geocache or Adventure) does not imply that accessing such location is safe or legal. Do not enter third parties’ property without permission and always obey applicable laws when using our services. You assume all risks and responsibilities associated with hiding or seeking a geocache or Adventure, and other location-based activities associated with our services.
  7. We need to contradict in this case. For Virtual Rewards the HQ would like COs to use the internal communication methods (E-Mail or Message Center) but if a CO wants to use a autoresponder, they may use one, and enforce their use.
Must include logbook For all physical caches, there must be a logbook for geocachers to record their visit. The logbook must be Physical Replaceable Easy to sign Enclosed within a container Examples: Notebook, paper scroll.
  14. That's how we started geocaching 15 years ago: we found a small erratic stone formed and rounded in the last ice age in a perfect size for a garden project, with a lock &lock container underneath. And tbh, that stone is still in our garden, but we've placed another stone on top, but not as beautiful as the former one (and told the COs a few weeks later what we did)!
  15. Elevation is allowed as an exeption. Best practise: ask your local reviewer of the slightest distrust !
  17. The time we can spare, after our daily job, which takes approx 10-12h , after some sleep, which takes about 8-10h, after some household tasks like cooking, cleaning up, doing the laundry which takes about 3-4h, meeting friends which takes 1-2h a day, going caching which takes 1-2h a day, and all the other things that need to be done, before we can take some time to do the volunteer job... Your 10 caches are waiting in the queue, last update on your caches was October 11th, so it's just day 2 of the 7 dayx expactation, which is just a expactation not a rule!
  18. We really appreciate this feature as this is exactly what we have been waiting for and needed a workaround for a long time. However, we would like to share a few thoughts about the feature. The player location icon/dot is way too similar to the nearby ALC stations, a pink unicorn (or a green frog just in case a pink unicorn ist too fancy) would be much easier to distinguish. Background to this: while caching in saturated areas and in exzessive use we've tried to open our own dot as location, which led to frustrations until we realized we've clicked on ourselves in several occasions . Zoom factor. as DougyB has already written, the zoom factor is always set to the largest extent of the ALC displayed on the screen. ALC which coveres a wide area: ALC that covers a small area: But if this happens in a highly saturated area, the app quickly reaches its performance limit. However, as we see it, this feature is not needed for ALCs that are distributed over a larger area. We would be very happy if the zoom factor would be fixed as soon as this feature is activated, so that the app is not brought to its performance limit and this feature is still usable. Thank you for listening :-)
  21. Did we ever mention that we really like your picture of the 2 ALCs created by our playeraccount?
Must be accessible No contact required ..... Caches cannot require geocachers to contact the cache owner or anyone else.
  23. Aus den Guidelines: No commercial content Cache pages perceived as commercial will not be published. Commercial content includes any of the following characteristics Overtones of advertising, marketing, or promotion Suggests or requires the finder do any of the following Go inside a business Interact with employees Purchase a product or service Name, links, or logos of the following Businesses Commercial products Competing games or cache listing services Links or logos of agencies and organizations (including nonprofit organizations), unless needed for permission See examples and exceptions in the Help Center. Geocaching HQ may make exceptions to the commercial guidelines for GeoTours and trackable promotions.
  24. We would take those warnings serious, the civil war was hell, and landmines are dangerous even decades after they were placed. There might be limitations for foreigners buying a car with a lot of bureaucracy at least compulsory insurance, taxes and so on. Don't count on the availability on uber in a lot of countries esp. with the old caches beeing in quite remote areas. We've searched and found some of the oldest around europe, and just a few of those countries have their oldest one within a city perimeter (Denmark, Gibraltar, Sweden, Liechtenstein (not quite in the city but not so far away))
