I thought my meniscus in my knee was torn, here i was doing some weight lifting and my muscles and tendons were just recouping, but boy did it hurt, i felt like i had rocks in my knee everytime i bent down it crunched. But its ok now, and nothing was wrong. Just needed rest. GL "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur

  7. I am looking into getting a mountain bike. I don't know too much about them , started doing some research tonight. Just wondered if any other cachers out there go mountain biking, and what kind of bike and price range would you recommend to a newbie mountain biker? Do you have a rack for your bike on your car? What would be a good rack for a jeep wrangler? Comments on used mountain bikes? Feel free to share any mountain biking stories! 8. There has been alot of cache plundering in my area. (PA). I had several ideas for my first hide, but i don't trust my locations now. I'll eventually hide one when I figure out a good concealed way to do it. Oh well. "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  9. Hmmmmmm......wanna hear somethin wierd?? I have 2 computers, one upstairs and one downstairs and on the upstairs computer, geocaching.com loads as the former website. Downstairs it loads as the new website...lol! I enjoy it! Its kinda neat! "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  10. I'm thinking of buying some travel bugs, never owned any, just wondering what the general life span of one is before it gets eaten by a travel troll. "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  11. I haven't served, but I'm in a turning point in my life and considering airforce, haven't made a decision yet though. A good friend of mine is in S. Korea Airforce right now, but since the war began, I haven't been able to email her anymore. I hope to hear from her soon. 14. quote:Originally posted by BassoonPilot: That's an interesting concept. But why? If I understand what you wrote, you would hold in higher esteem someone who visited 100 tourist destination 1/1 dash-and-grab caches than someone who never left "home" but picked up 400 challenging caches. Whatever spins your wheels, but that doesn't make sense to me. (Incidentally, I live in New Jersey and have cached as far away as Virginia and Maine. I haven't noticed any significant differences in cache quality, hiding styles, or rating accuracy.) I never mentioned tourist locations, nor did I mention ratings. I also never said that the actual cache container itself is any different in other places. However your statement of "Incidentally, I live in NJ and have cached as far away as Virginia & Maine. I haven't noticed any significant differences in cache quality, hiding styles or rating accuracy" answers your own question of "why". 15. Everyone can see if you double log a cache, I think that speaks for itself. And as far as numbers are concerned, I'd respect a cacher with only 100 finds in which he visited several states with considerable distance between them (like PA then colorado then onto Texas then Alaska) or across the whole world over a cacher with several hundred finds within a 200 mile radius of his home. With all the caches being traditional of course. "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  16. I'd suggest this one, but its not on your list; http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=30930&log=y&decrypt= "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  17. Toilet paper! Cause the bears don't like to share! "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  18. I'd delete the find I was going to find 100 caches today man!!!! But i didn't cause i didn't have enough McToys! But i'm gonna log em. LOL "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  19. Why not? This cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=23485 is in a graveyard, and its one of the best cache sites i ever went to. It was very quaint, and someone had planted daffodils everywhere around the tombstones, along with some kind of little purple flower that lined the trail that weaved though this area as well. It was very pretty, and the cache doesn't disrupt any of the stones or graves, (which dated back to 1802!). In fact many of the cornfields within 40 miles of this cache have tiny graveyards in them that have been fenced off, and you can see them from the roads. 20. Saw 2 snakes while caching in Delaware, one was teeny, and gray, the other was a watersnake and it was bigger and tan colored. I don't know my snakes, so I can't share what kind they were. Also saw alot of turtle shells at the "Trussum Pond" cache...who is eating the turtles?!? Saw a vulture too, yuck. Ticks

I'm glad to see everyone contributing to the tick discussion, its important stuff to be aware of. As far as diagnoses of Lyme disease, most tests are unreliable because they are serologic, and they test for antibodies, this includes the blood screen, ELISA, and the western blot, with western blot most reliable. They are unreliable because it takes your body a few weeks to develop the necessary amount of antibody to be significant for a test result. THerefore if you go to the Dr. after you remove the tick, and they take your blood, the test will be negative because your body hasn't had enough timme to respond to the bacteria, even though you may be carrying the infectious bacteria. Most Drs. won't wait the time it would take you to make enough antibody and then take the blood test for the results, but they will order the test anyway. There are two ticks that carry Lyme disease infecting bacteria, one on the east coast and one on the west. The ticks must feed for at least 24-36 hrs to transmit the bacteria. Keep in mind, ticks also transmit Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Ticks won't keep me from geocaching, so have fun and enjoy cache hunting all!! Ticks

I went and took a walk this morning, and when i got back to my house, I proceded to 'de-tick' myself. I guess they are taking advantage of this spell of warm weather as well. So far this morning, I've pulled off 8 ticks, mainly on my clothes, and 2 of which were deer ticks. Over the last few days, I've pulled off 4 other ticks following my cache hunts. Watch out all, the ticks are waiting...and they are very hungry and determined. True-North "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
  24. I plan to plant my first multi this spring, and I'm going to use these: http://www.mgscientific.com/store/group.asp?GROUP_ID=623 They are completely leakproof, have a screw on cap and you can write on them with a sharpie. They cost only .50 cents a piece, but if you buy them online you have to buy 500 of them. They also are good for transporting shampoo and conditioner on overnight vacations! LOL! I buy them from a friend, but if I ever find a company that sells them in less than 500 quantity, i'll post it if anyone is interested. Team Loser

Hello all, i'd like to introduce you to a new Pennsylvania geocacher, his name is Team Loser. So far, his hunts have successfully lead him to ransack these caches within the last few weeks: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=8731 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=943 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=32307 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=17052 Unfortunately, this ruins the hunt for subsequent cachers, and its a shame that people can't just enjoy and partake in the sport instead of ruining it for others. I know that people that are not geocaching, will come across caches and take them or leave them, (and I could be wrong) but it seems that this cacher is deliberately seeking caches on the website and ransacking them. Why? Why even bother? Is it for the undying need to collect every McToy ever made? Are they living off of the candy and dog biscuits left in the caches? Maybe they need to steal the log book because they are too cheap to spend the .50 cents on toilet paper. Well, whatever the reason, it just plain sucks. Happy caching all...except Team Loser, may the ticks be with him. True-North "The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator." - Louis Pasteur
