  1. I've spent most of my life in the the Pacific Northwest and a good amount of my leisure time in the 'woods.' I've never carried a weapon of any kind for self defense, and have never been in a situation where I wished that I had one for protection. It's my opinion that the best weapon you have is your mind. Fill it well with useful information about the outdoors and leave the pistol at home. Everybody -- yourself, your companians, other people, and the wildlife -- will be much safer without it. Arm yourself with a camera. I've seen enough rattlesnakes, but I'd love to be lucky enough to see an elusive cougar. If I ever do, I hope I've got my camera.
  2. Mine arrived yesterday as well -- I like them very much, but then I tend to be fond of coins and such from what I consider very nearly my own back yard. How ever, it seems that there had been some 'tampering' with the envelope, although i suspect it was customs on one side of the border or the other . My mailer had actually been slit open on one end and then taped closed. Thankfully, the coins were still there.
  3. I'm always interested in personal coins having to do with music. I'd be interested in two.
  4. The cache I enjoyed the most during my trips to the Peninsula was Sol Duc River Walk -- it's well kept, nice view of the river, short, easy, level walk, and the owners placed a little log bench so you'd have a nice place to enjoy both the view and the cache. If you're going way south to the Columbia, try the Covered Bridges of Wahkiakum County (I think that's how it's spelled.) I was amazed to find that Washington has an actual old covered bridge. Have fun.
  5. I would be interested in two, please.
  6. I'd like to adopt your "I Love the Stilly" caches. E-mail sent.
  7. I saw a post from Analogdog on another thread -- he says his caches are up for adoption. I'd like to offer to adopt his "I Love the Stilly" caches -- all three of them.
  8. That would have been a good one for a first find. I nominated it for February's Cache of the Month. It's actually an easy find, but I guess you might be up the Sol Duc without a paddle if you don't know how to use your magic machine.

    E-mail sent. 2/1 Thanks.
  10. I see you're at 499. I'd love to hear what you're going to do . . .
  11. Well, darn it all -- I would love to give this one a shot, but I'll be there in spirit. I'll be in Seattle today and tomorrow playing the flute! (Who'd have thunk -- there's a reason I'm called fluteface!) I'll watch for another sometime after we come back from spring break.
  12. Update on the campground: I just looked – the lower loop is almost full – one RV spot left. The upper loop has 18 standard sites. I’m assuming that means no utilities.
  13. Botanist and/or photographer always seem to work the best for me. Amazing how I expounded on the differences between a couple of holly trees at one cache location -- there really were major differences in the leaves. However, the one time I was accosted by a police officer -- well, I decided honesty was the best policy. Luckily, he had heard of geocaching, but I had the cache in hand to show him, just in case. I've generally had much fewer problems night caching, except for the time somebody thought we were poachers. Luckily, we had no guns!
  14. Love these; I think set options first, then individually after that. I know I'd like at least one set, maybe two if finances will support it! Edit: Can't seem to get it right!
  15. My came last week. Very nice -- I was concerned because although I like the initial art, the photos I had seen of the final coin were severly underwhelming and I was concerned that they might be a dud, design-wise. But they look much better in person. Good work!
  16. What a lil' cutie! Congrats on the fine addition to the collection. Now you need a cigar coin!
