  1. I have been using POI Loader so far, but now I'm working on a portable script to process my pocket queries, and POI Loader does not support any command line calls (except /silent to run the last configuration). Thanks for the hint with GSAK. The export works fine from the UI, but I can't get it working the way I want it from a macro. I want to apply different filters and run a GPI export with the according category and icon file path (relative to gsak.exe), e.g. multi.gpi with category "multi" and icon file multi.bmp. I'll check the GSAK forum, maybe somebody already had a similar problem.
  2. I'm trying to convert gpx files into Garmin POI files (gpi extension) with GPSBABEL, but the description is missing in the gpi files. The gpx files are created with GSAK and include the Groundspeak XML elements. I use the following GPSBABEL command: gpsbabel.exe -i gpx -f traditional.gpx -o garmin_gpi,descr -F traditional.gpi The descr option should write the gpx description in the gpi address field, but it seems that only the Groundspeak:name element is written in the address field. Has anybody managed to get the description working in gpi files with GPSBABEL?
  3. yeah, mobipocket was down "for maintenance" for about a week due to severe server problems (here's a link to the story; sorry, german only). anyway, i'm running pocket queries in the first place because i'm too lazy to process 400+ caches by hand, so i really do not want to add another piece of software to manually pre-process the cache information from the gpx file before i can use it on my pda. i had a script processing all my queries so i would be ready for action with a single double-click, but without ebooks that's pretty useless right now. @jeremy: why can't Groundspeak provide the ebooks in html format? if the mobipocket reader can be installed on a device, the same device can probably display html. it can't be so much trouble for Groundspeak to re-route the pocket query output to a simple text file instead of a prc-generator, plus you guys would save the money for a new ebook generator. imho the mobipocket books weren't that great anyway: images were missing, character encoding was sometimes messed up, the index was not necessary thanks to the search function (works better for a 400+ cache query), text was still html formatted (giant headers are pretty useless on the small display), hints are at the end of the book, and the reader ate quite some resources on the pda... it's time for something new.
  4. IMHO the Vista's quad-helix antenna is much better for use in the city. Before I got the Vista, I had a regular GPS 60 without external antenna and I had big problems connecting in the city. With the Vista, I can usually connect within 30-60 seconds. I have to admit though that I liked the GPS 60's design better, even though it was a lot heavier than the Vista. IMHO the controls layout on the GPS 60 is much more user-friendly.
