  1. Um, no... no, thank you. I don't want to enter this drawing.
  2. I'm pretty sure that's the same cache where I dropped a couple of letters to "mail" on the ground and snagged the cache (and replaced it) the same way. Santa Rosa, right? -Ken
  3. Yeah, that one... and a friend to lug it around for me.
  4. My last comment on this unless someone else wants to add something. This problem seems to come and go. Sometimes the bug explained above happens, sometimes it doesn't. If I can keep track of any special mouse-clicks or sequences that seem to be connected with making the bug happen, I will. Otherwise... oh well, I guess.
  5. Well isn't that just special. The locationless found listings are working correctly now, and before I logged my latest one. Yep, there's something buggy going on there with the DB. As long as I'm not losing finds to the bit bucket I guess...
  6. Shoot. I missed your posts. That sounds like exactly what I've got going on. I haven't checked it today, yet. I do have a new locationless to log (I think there was a Totem locationless, anyway.) We'll see what happens then.
  7. If it ain't broken, don't fix it! Sure, the upgrade might be nice but well, if it is simply to add a location field, it's not worth the risk of introducing bugs in a major rewrite of code. YMMV...
  8. Ha! If it was a Markwell, I already visited the other Locationless bug threads.
  9. Bug in displaying the Locationless caches I have found from my user stats page. 1. From the User Stats page I click on the Locationless cache icon. I have 21 finds. 2. I am presented with a page that says I have 21 records and I am looking at page 1 of 2. In fact, there are 20 finds listed on this page. There should be one additional find on the next page. 3. I click to visit page 2 (or Next) and I'm presented with the begining of a listing of all Locationless caches available and now the page count shows total records: 284 and says I'm on page 2 of 15. 4. At this point, if I click on page 3 or Next, I'm taken to page 3 of 15. If I click page 1 or Previous, I'm taken to page 1 fo 15 of all the Locationless caches. -Ken
  10. I'm running into the same problem myself when someone logs a find on my one lonely cache. I just tested the email delivery of a notice by posting a message on the cache successfully, but I haven't seen any "Owner" for a number of months. Someone just found the cache yesterday and the only way I knew about it was by visiting the cache page. I'm going back through the server's maillog files but since I get a number of notices each day for caches that I'm watching, it is kind of difficult. I do receive email for the caches I'm watching but I can't remember the last time I got an "Owner" message when someone found my cache. Is it possible to see whether those messages are bouncing to me? The cache in question has waypoint GCGYMB. The last time it was found was on the 20th. Thanks, Ken
  11. From looking at the fountain in some of the photos from the virtual cache, it looks like it might be possible to simply lose your step and fall in the fountain. If simply falling in the fountain could place one in close enough proximity of the pump intake so as to cause one to have difficulty getting back out of the water (or to the surface) there is certainly a hazard and design flaw where liability could be involved. Sounds like there needs to be some consideration on a new design for the pump intake.
  12. Hmmm... I'm getting this idea for a new cache...
  13. Woo Hoo! Me, too. <fakes to left... goes right, doubles back... trips, falls, looks to see who was watching.>
  14. In answer to the original poster, it's all in knowing how to moderate oneself. Never let anything outside of your happy marriage and children become an obsession. -Ken
  15. Locally we formed a kind of team and went out a few times together. I've found that I enjoy looking for the caches much better on my own than with the team. Once in a while I'll take my kid out with me, but that doesn't really count as a team effort. It just gives us something to do together. -Ken
  16. Thanks for your (non) feedback. You're welcome. I was trying to find a nice way to say "I don't like it."
  17. Though I appreciate the effort involved in the new page, I'll probably continue to use the old page as long as it is still available. -Ken
  18. One has to wonder exactly how they arrived at this: Capacity 266 pounds. Not 265 pounds, not 267 pounds, but exactly 266 pounds.
  19. Read my note log entry. Decode it. I still have a scar on my right leg from this one. I later found this one after the owner relocated the cache to a less hazardous (and non-private property) site. -Ken
  20. Oh, if you're going to do something stupid like attempt to use a M$ platform to do real things... Heck, use minicom on a linux box for all your real world serial needs!
  21. Well good deal, then. Private property ALWAYS requires specific permission (unless it's your own property, of course). You did good with your note and meeting! I know what you mean about the glazed over look explaining geocaching to some of the uninformed. The responses range from "You do what??" to "Cool! How do I try that out?" Even attempting to explain it further to the "You do what??" people really cements one's image in their minds as a geogeek...
  22. and OK, am I the only one who is confused by these two statements? I'll bet that part of the reason you had such a positive response is that you were actually able to "connect" yourself (via your wife's work) to them and make yourself somewhat of an "insider." Not that this is a bad approach, however! Ken
