  1. Just recently purchased the Garmin 7200 as my old street pilot was going bad. I really love the larger screen when driving, but cannot figure out an easy way to put in favorites in a given category. The Gamin has a number of categories listed, one of which are caches. However, when you enter a list of caches they all go into unlisted and you have to move one at a time. There should be a way to have them load directly into the category of caches and that way you can keep them separate from other favorites so when you want to delete them all after caching, you do not have to delete one at a time or delete other favorites. Any suggestions? Thanks, Randy
  2. Yes Clyde, I was talikg about the Garmin 2620 Street Pilot. uess I will wait unti GPSBabel supports it. Thanks again for the great program
  3. Clyde thanks for the continued great job. One thing is if there are any plans in the future to add the Garmin Street Pilot so that we can download waypoint to it. Right now I use easy GPS to download to the steet pilot and GSAK for everthing else. Keep up the great work.
  4. I know you can manually enter co-ordinates into the 2620, but wondered if there was a way to download from GSAK or some other programs a number of waypoints at once.
  5. I received mine yesterday as usual. You might want to go in and redo.
  6. In EasyGPS go to File then Preferences and then Add GPS. You can then add your Magellan Sportrak and then set to 4800 baud and the com port you are connected to. Make sure the Sportrak is set at the same baud rate.
  7. I am looking at buying a palm pilot. Given I would like to use it for geocaching and be able to go paperless, what is the best model to look for? Sony, HP, or something else? Thanks, Team Rand
  8. I saw where this listed 4.04 as the newest software. I e-mailed magellan to see when they might be posting this on website for downloading... No reply from them to date. Does anyone know what is new in 4.04 versus 4.03? Is there anyway to get 4.04 except waiting until Magellan posts it on their site?
  9. Thnaks for the replies. I will pass this all on.
  10. I have a friend that is looking at getting into geocaching and has asked me best unit to buy given he has a Mac computer for uploading any maps. As I have a Magellan SporTrak Pro and a PC, I was not much help as Mapsend Streets and Destinations only runs on a PC. I think I saw a forum on this awhile ago, but looking back over the topics I could not find anything. Thanks for any input, Team Rand
  11. I am looking for the cigarette lighter power cord/computer cable combination cable for a SportTrak Pro.
  12. I became a member not for the added features, but because I think this is a great site and I get a lot more than $30 worth of use and pleasure out of Geocaching. Yes, I could still use the site if I did not become a member, but I see where a lot of people put a lot of time and money into making this a great site and I feel I should pay a part back for its use. Team Rand
  13. Does anyone use rechargable batteries in the Magellan Sportrak Pro and do they work OK?
  14. I had a friend say he saw the kit in Sams Club, but since I am not a member of Sams Club, I cannot confirm. However, he also said it was $230, which is now the price at Costco for just the Sportrac Pro with out the Map program CD or the vehicle holder, so he might have been confused.
  15. That is quick work. I noticed that you just recently regestered to the site and here you have gone and figured out this neat idea. Congradulations and may you both have a great caching life together.
  16. I do not have Topo, but rather Mapsend Streets. I had the same question as my house was about 500 ft off and I asked Magellan about it. I received the following reply from them. We are currently evaluating different mapping data sources for near future updates. Unfortunately the problem you have described is not a simple update that can be downloaded from the Internet. The type of update you will need would be to the mapping database and not to the software application. This type of an update will need to be distributed on a CD-ROM. Our current plan is to provide map database updates over the course of next year. 17. I had a question on the accuracy of MapSend and the ProTrack. I recieved the automatic e-mail reply, and then a day later recieved an e-mail response from them. I was not real happy with the answer, as they basically said it was a map drift problem and nothing they can do until they re-issue a new CD, but they did respond.
  18. There is a virtual cache at the John Wayne (Orange County) Airport. A virtual cache is one way to minimize concern about having one near airport because of security. The cache is called "They don't call me Mr. Morrison".
  19. I had just been asking this question on the Yahoo group site and had a couple positive replies. My wife and I are new to geocache as of last of November and are already hooked. My sister from Arizona got us interested. She and her husband are retired and spend a lot of fun time geocaching. I guess we should make sure that the people on the OC site and this thread are hooked together so that we get all interested people involved. Being new to this, not sure of how to set up such a get together, but am willing to help in anyway I can.
  20. When I posted the original question, I said I had also asked Magellan and would post any reply from them. It is copied below: We are currently evaluating different mapping data sources for near future updates. 21. Thanks to all that have replied to my question. Main thing was I wanted to make sure I was not missing something I should have been doing that was giving me the error. From all that I have read, it appears I am not doing anything wrong and the error is normal/expected. I realize that if I move into a closer magnification, the error will appear to be greater, however, it is still the same error (IE, a 500 ft error on a .4 mile chart will not be as noticable as on a 500 ft screen). Anyway, thanks again to all.... I have also asked the same question of Magellan and will forward onto this forum any interesting reply I might receive from them. TeamRand
  22. I cannot get the SportTrack Pro and the Map Send Map to be accurate with each other. As I am driving, the track on the map screen is showing me at least 500 ft off the road I am on. Also, when I get home, the map shows I am a block away from where I actually am. Is the Magellan MapSend that inaccurate or do I have something set wrong on my SportTarck Pro? Both my brother-in law and I bought the Costco bundle over the last couple of weeks and both are seeing a problem. We have both upgraded to version 4.03. Thanks for any help. TeamRand
