  1. Briansnat, do you know if Mike teague has a geonick?
  2. I am looking for any of the 2011 going coastal trading cards from this list: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/going_coastal_outstanding.txt or any new 2012 cards. Anyone insterested in trading can see my Blueline Geocachers cards, as well as my #1 FTF Geocacher card here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Geocache-Custom-Trading-Cards/136759573036417 or here: http://www.ftfgeocacher.com/ http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/ftf_geocacher_geolobo_1.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/geolobo_bluegirl_get_married_2011.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/blueline_geocachers_2010.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/blueline_geocachers_2009.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/geolobo_2008.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/bluegirl_2008.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/bluegirl_1000_2009.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73677254/geolobo_1000_2009.jpg contact me at: geolobos AT yahoo DOT com
  3. But how many Germans actually found it? Oops, I think I need to add one of these or these or these That one is amazing. It's been out for nearly five years and still get 5-10 finds every day. On April 12th there were about 30 found it logs. I don't think I've seen that many logs on any of my caches in an entire year. I know you asked What is the most favorited geocache in the world, but, I would think a cache that was favorited by every person who went to it, would have more clout. This cache (at the time and date of this post) had 5,535 "Found it"s, and only 1193 favorites. Thats only 20% of the cachers favoriting the cache. It is located in a populous area which gets lots of visitors. Take a cache which has 100 finds an 100 favorites and you got a cache! It could by any number of finds/favorites. You get my point. Groundspeak HQ (Lily Pad) has 4,060 finds, but only 880 favorites at the tme of this posting. Lets see who can find the cache which has the largest number of favorites which equals the finds!
  4. You mean like these two (from a set of ten) of the geocaching history series
  5. Here's 2 random ones that have been sitting on my work PC. Not a final selection, just coming up with ideas at this point. Sorry, i was referring to cfbush2000
  6. You can put what ever you like on your signature item. There is nothing that says you can't. People tend to not like things that are not geocaching related though. In your case, it looks like your promoting the business of making that particular swag item for others to puchase? is this the case? Seems fine to me, especially if its a great signature item, that others might like. having said that, this thread is about trading Cards. You may want to start another thread and get others input, since you wont get much here, as geocachers only interested in trading vards are reading this thread - good luck!
  7. Again, I never had any problem with moisture. Place them in quality caches! Common sense tells you not to put one in a tupper ware container that already has a moist log. A good ammo can, with a good seal, with a good ziplock bag, and the card will be safe. When you open a container, you can tell whether or not it is a safe container, from the contents inside. Another good thing to remember is too not place it in a cache that doesn't get visited often. The idea is to get your card out there. You want someone to pick it up. Therefore, look at the log book. if it gets lots of visits, then you should feel comfortable leaving your card there. Like coins and tags though, i would assume you would trade the majority of your cards, or like i do, hand them out at events
  8. That looks like the Business card size - usually printed on a printer. Is this the case? Prossionally made ge-trading cards are 3 1/2" X 2 1/2" in size and are printed by a professinal online vendor, with water-resistant gloss, and come with a protective sleeve
  9. Oh my goodness couldn't agree more! Found one last week. So so so cool. Once my girlfriend graduates and gets a full time job I definitely see us making some up! I mean $110 for 50 pathtags? That's great! Thats $2.20 a tag. You can have 500 geo-tradingg cards made for less than that price, and it includes shipping! Where? how? If you have a facebook account , you can go to the FB page here At the top, yo will see a notes section. One of the notes lists the vendors you can use.
  10. Geo-trading cards are coated with a water resistant gloss, like most cards are. They can be placed in a sleeve (3000 sleeves for $3.00), and then placed in a ziplock bag. I like to put the card in a sleeve, and then when I sign the log book, place it on the page I sign, close the log book and place it in the ziplock bag. Common sense tells you not to place a card in a cache container that is not water proof or will not hold up to the elements over time. I have been placing cards in caches since 2008 and haven't heard a complaint yet. Pathtags, like geocoins are not being placed in the caches, becuase of their price. They have become so expensive to make, people can't afford to just place them in caches and have them taken instead of traded. With a geo-trading card, made at approximately $0.20 - $0.30 cents a piece, there is no worry of stolen cards. Besides, the cards are soon becoming a craze, and like coins and path-tags, i expect when people order 100-300 cards, they will mostly be doing online trading or trading at events vs. placing them in caches.

  12. Those are wonderful logs! Thank you for sharing them Everyone plays the game their own way, but I'm pretty sure that caching was never meant to be a way to get free stuff. I don't believe the cacher said they was looking for free stuff. I believe they wanted to trade up even, and not for garbage. You have to understand that a new geocacher, might get excited by the unknown (whats in the box). Try and place your self in this person's shoes. Instead of criticizing them, lets all next time try to ensure them of all the positive things about geocaching other than whats in the box. Just my thoughts

  14. First there were geocoins, then path-tags, and now geo-trading cards. More and more people and organizations are creating geo-trading cards. Myself and Bluegirl have been creating them since 2008. We now have 7 cards of our own. Here are some of them: GeoLobo - 2008 Bluegirl - 2008 GeoLobo & Bluegirl get married! Blueline Geocachers - 2010 You can view all of my cards as well as those i have collected here A number of template series of cards have been made as well. There are over 100 unique 2011 Going Coastal...arrgh event cards now, and plans to create a 2012 series is in the works as we speak. There are a series of cards called the Louisiana Legends, and the FTF Geocacher magazine has started a series oc cards as well. Click the link above or go to my collection page on Facebook to view my entire collection. If you decide to create a card, let me know, id be happy to trade with you. Happy Caching!
  15. I believe we have already traded cards. I have your FTF Geocacher and your Louisiana Geocaching Legends cards. Am i missing something else?
  16. Standard card size 2.5" X 3.5" - ultra-thick 16pt card stock
  17. I am interesting in collecting and trading Geo-Trading cards. I know of three sets of cards: Louisiana Geocaching Legends (Angel&Richie, Team Bamboozle, Bam, Bamette, Short Circuit 2) FTF Geocachers (geolobo, Geo-Jeepers, ckpetrus, boo2931, Tank Hounds, hakhak123) Going Coastal...arrgh! (mtn-man, boo2931, AstroDiver) as well as my 7 custom trading cards (geolobo, bluegirl, & blueline geocachers, etc) My collection can be viewed here If anyone knows of any cards made by geocachers not listed above, please let me know, so i can contact them and ask to trade. Thanks GeoLobo
  18. I doubt mapping has anything to do with it. Today is Saturday, and Groundspeak may be experiencing a unsual volume of traffic to the site, or there is an issue with a Server or other underlying problem. If this is the case, please be patient, and either let the bandwidth open up, or let the Groundspeak crew take care of any issues.
  19. The info at the bottom must be used to provide the location of a physical cache that can be signed, or else it will not be approved, as that would be a virtual cache. Or it could be made an earthcache. I believe that was their intent
  20. I agree with briansnat. Unless you want to lose your geocache, hiding it in a well known dive site is not a good idea. Or, better yet, hide your cache in a not so often visited site. My first scuba cache (True Scuba cache) had me finding a set of coordinates that were under water, and after my dive, i had to find the actual container on land. 1.) This does not ruin your dive 2.) this gives you a better chance of the cachr staying in place good luck
  21. I see a future in Souvenirs! For one, Groundspeak could create a set of trading cards from these. Each card would have the souvenir picture on the front, and the image creator, and info about the souvenir on the back. The Souvenirs could be packaged in sets State/Province Countries Events Special (leap Day, International Day. Geo Maze, HQ, etc) I think these would become highly trade-able. Maybe they will even throw the gum in the package
  22. You can do what ever you want. You could log the GC.com headquarters cache and get three for one if you like. A souvenir for the HQ, one for the state of WA, and one for Leap Day! Its all how you wanna play the game.
  23. Ive run into alot of Animals while out geocaching, too bad they were of the "Homo sapiens" variety
  24. 6" of new snow since Wend.....and its snowing as i type this update (12:35 PM on Thursday). More snow predicted for Friday! Winter is finally here!
