  1. HK USP Fullsize .45ACP I'm selling it as well as a couple other firearms and accessories on other forums. I had access to a digicam today so I took pictures of everything at the same time Please post links to other forums! Sorry, I didn't see this post until just now. All the firearms have sold sorry
  2. After a while with both, I'll say I don't personally think the extra screen size is worth it. The size is only horizontal, it doesn't really help me. It might help you for using the other travel type functions, but I don't do that. The only thing I use my GPS for is navigation, and I don't need to see more of what's on the sides of me. If the 660 could be switched the portrait layout it would be great, but since it's landscape only, it doesn't give any more info in front of you (what I really need to know) than the 350. Just my opinion.

  4. I got to use someone's digicam over the holiday:
  5. Does Garmin often listen to requests by customers? If enough people ask, do they make simple changes? I have a Nuvi 350, great unit. I hardwired it into my car so it turns on with the ignition, just like my Quest did and my other GPS units. That was perfect for me because 98% of the time I drive my car I do not use the GPS (as in routing), yet I always end up just looking at it, just glancing over to see the next street or landscape. The problem with the Nuvi is altho it turns on, it does not go to the map screen, it always comes up to the menu screen. That means I have to manually change it to the map screen every time I get in the car, I would much rather not do that. I know this sounds lazy, but as I said, I just glance at the unit randomly and I would rather have it ready (like my Quest always was) instead of needing me to press something. So how well does Garmin listen? Is there any possibility to get the unit changed so it it starts on whatever screen was displayed when it was turned off (like most other Garmin units that can be turned on with external power)?
  6. Then Young America should be prosecuted. There is not one single business in the world that hasn't be accused of some type of crime, that's the way the world works. The actions of one company does not equal the actions of the entire business model.
  7. I too never had a problem with MIR's. Follow the instructions and get your check, couldn't be easier.
  8. Yes, I am selling my software. I only used my one unit with it, the other slot should be opened. I do not have the code since I never needed it (and therefore never called Garmin to get it).
  9. I would like to sell my Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx along with City Navigator v8 NT. This is a new unit with up to date software. I bought these to Geocache, but I have found myself not even thinking about Geocaching lately, I guess I fell out of the sport. The GPSMAP 60Cx came with an unlock code and you will be able to use a second GPS unit with the City Navigator NT v8 software that I am selling with it. I am also throwing in a Gilsson GPS antenna for the GPSMAP 60Cx with a 3' cord, perfect for attaching to yourself when hiking or throwing on your dashboard when wanting better accuracy in the car. Price shipped in US for the package: $400 ETA: I forgot to mention that I am also throwing in a 512MB SanDisk MicroSD card along with the 64MB card that came with the unit!
  10. Maybe you got a bum antenna like my 60Cx. My unit doesn't get better than 20 foot accuracy and about 7 satellite locks with half bars each. Even standing out in an open field. As soon as I plug the cheap little Gilsson antenna in it reports 9 foot accuracy and has 11 sat locks with almost all full bars. Knowing that, I can only assume that the fixt antenna isn't performing as well as others.
  11. Not to pick nits, but that's not $12.00 in my book. The price to add it to my cart is $32, so that's how much it costs, with the added fun of maybe getting $20 back before Easter. Plus, it's out of stock, will ship in 1-2 weeks. $32 is a good price for 1GB Micro SD, but I don't count my MIRs before they hatch. lol You might not, but the rest of the world seems to.
  12. Cash it, what else? What type of answer are you fishing for?
  13. FWIW, this might be the new way that's it's done, but it's the first time I've seen it and I've been getting a couple mail-in-rebates a month for years (yes, I'm a MIR whore).
  14. Who is going to take it back with the UPC cut out of the box? If you find someone willing to take it back, you also found an easy $50 money making scheme.
  15. First let me say that I am a believer in personal responsibility, if I were to throw out the postcard I would be responsible for not reading it carefully. Today when getting the mail I shuffled thru the normal advertisements, many of them on postcards (casinos in A.C., chimney sweepers, male enhancement, dentist, you name it). For some reason one caught my eye before it landed in the garbage can, the only reason I noticed it was because it said "Garmin" on it and I immediately found it odd for Garmin to send out a postcard to me. After looking more closely I figured it was a confirmation that they received my rebate information. Apparently I wasn't looking close enough because I later saw that it was in fact a check. That's right, a check in the form of a post card, no envelope, no attempt at privacy, just a $50 check out in the open. IMO it's just a dumb idea, dumb is the best word I can come up with, there is no good reason to do it this way other than to save a few cents. Ya know what, I would have gladly taken a check for $49.50 and had them use the extra money on an envelope to ensure my financial situation stays private. Nevermind some type of writing on the envelope showing it's contents to be important, as most bank/creditcard/etc. statements have on their envelopes. Again, it's my responsibility to watch out for dumb things such as this. If you have an ETrex or GPSMAP 60 rebate coming, be aware when shuffling thru your junk mail. And check out all magazines, I occasionally find post cards which find their way inside the pages.
  16. Awwww man, when I read the title I thought the thread was going to be announcing a new Topo program! It seems as if the Topo maps for the USA are a little old, I was wondering if an updated set of maps will be available in the near future?
  17. Thanks! Hmmm, is there much of a difference then between the 60Cx and the 60CSx besides no altimeter and compass? I guess if I were to buy the 60Cx, I might as well spend the extra $50 to get the 60CSx, huh? lol There is no other difference other than the Alt. and Compass. I went for the Cx since I don't need either, even when Geocaching. I'd much rather have $50 in my pocket and a handhelf conventional compass. Just my opinion. BTW, I believe there is still a $50 rebate on the Cx and CSx models.
  18. It doesn't have the Sirf chipset so it won't get as good a signal (especially under heavy tree cover) as the newer "x" model 60's.
  19. mmmm maybe my problem was that their poor comphrehension skills like yours? Andrew Escuse me while I roll over and have a good laugh. Oh my now I feel so much better I think you should quit with the little game and pay better attention.
  20. When you say mapping posibilities and color screen, that brought the price right up. The ability to map is also going to require software which could be expensive. The Garmin Quest comes with software and will do both in-car navigation and get you to a Geocache for around $315. It's more suited to in-car navigation, tho. The 60Cx will do both as well, but it's a little bit more focused at Geocaching and it's a little bit more rugged, plus the shape lends itself to hiking (moreso than the Quest, at least). Software will have to be purchased for around $110 so the total will be about $425 (that's after the current $50 rebate). You could save some money by finding an older 60C model (no "x"), but you loose the expandable memory and the Sirf chipset. The Quest doesn't have the Sirf chipset either. There are a lot of other options, but none of them are going to be cheaper than the Quest considering software will be needed for autorouting. Your best bet might be finding a used 60Cx (or CSx if the compass is desired) from someone who could put the maps of your area on the unit for you. You would save money by buying used and not having to purchase the maps. Good luck!
  21. Well, not sure if that is the case. The marker or cursor tends to skew towards a track that is already on the map and stayed there until one has branched into a totally new and unmarked territory on the map. My understanding is that the position of the cursor depicts the coordinate position on the map and thus the track logging and reliability of the tracks collected. So if the setting is set to on, the tracks collected are worthless. As a habit, mine is set to off 247 whether I am collecting tracks or not. I'm looking at saved tracks right now in Mapsource, when it's zoomed in I can clearly see that they don't match the road perfectly, sometimes they are in the other lane of a divided highway, simetimes they are 100 foot off of the road. Lock on Road was set to On when these tracks were taken.
  22. So that would led me to believe that my built in antenna is not functioning properly. I guess I'll call Garmin in the morning to see about a repair.
  23. I have to disagree. Grasscatcher's point, as he so clearly stated it multiple times, is that the only purpose for the Lock On Road feature is to make a "pretty picture". In reality, he ignored the fact that the Lock On Road feature does help in the navigational process. The thing I don't understand is that "poor position accuracy" will led you to believe you "were somewhere that you weren't" the same way. It's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. The only difference is that the Lock On Road option will use logic, it will understand that you didn't fly from 5th street to 7th street in .04 seconds. Bad accuracy or bad maps don't use logic, they will take you from the north lane of a divided highway to the south lane of another highway 400 foot away and 300 foot lower in elevation. It's a gamble either way, you can place your bet blind or try to put some thought into it first. It's your choice, no one is pushing you either way, especially not us kiddies who only use Lock On Road for the pretty pictures
