  1. Shilo, are you able to incorporate "visited" logs in the standings updates? One of my racers has more mileage than reflected in the latest updates, but it's because it has "visited" lots of caches in lots of states without having been "dropped off" anywhere. This is the racer: TB2D489 Also, thank you so much for following the race! I bet it seems like no one is watching the race or keeping up with their racers. this is not the case.
  2. I'll start: Penny and Kona's PGR VI Racer #3 - activated August 2011, released in November 2011 - 4639.9 miles Penny and Kona's PGR VI Racer #5 - activated August 2011, released in November 2011 - 2138.2 miles
  3. Inspired by Shilo's 2009 thread, but edited to reflect 2011: Just about 5 years ago, kealia started a thread for us to track the distance traveled of our coins released in 2006. 3 years ago, chaosmanor started the 2007 edition, Shilo revived threads for 2008 and 2009, and Penny and Kona tried to keep the momentum for 2010. Seems like it's time to do the same for geocoins released in 2011. No prizes, just a little ego-boost and some bragging rights The same rules apply as from kealia's thread; they were pretty good then, so I'm quoting Shilo quoting kealia verbatim, with only the year info, the thing about "bolding" and Rule #6 added: Simple guidelines for listing your coin here: 1) List recent coins only (released this year: 2011 only) 2) No more than 2 coins per geocacher (so one person doesn't monopolize the page) 3) List the release date and mileage 4) When you add yours, just copy the list and insert your coin a) sort by mileage with the most at the top feel free to BOLD your coins so that we all can see them easily 5) Rinse and repeat 6) BTW: Personal tracking coins (those kept by the owner as a record of caches found) are not eligible. We're looking for coins that you have let go and no longer have any real control over. The main idea here is to have fun!
  4. 7. I will have a new mailing address about the time I should receive the pass. I'll update in in the geocoin forum address book. this might be a good idea for all participants BEFORE they mail stuff out, given the length of time for the pass? thanks everyone!
  8. Only a month away for the race start!!! I'd better get working on an article for Latitude 47... Anyone interested in racing?
  9. One of my "Montana-bound" geocoins has MADE IT to Montana!! Here is the link to my coin: TB2CEJ4 Here is the cache where it's sitting: GC1Q16V Even if Tsun isn't able to pick this one up, it's not every day that a geocoin makes even half of it's stated mission. Making it to Montana is to be celebrated.
  10. I'd be interested in a second round! Seeing this mission get completed with relatively few bumps in the road makes me happy.
  11. The take-home message here: Butterflies may not make the best racers for the Premier Geocoin Race VI.
  12. Yep. I got quite a few nasty emails from the seller as I pointed out to him that selling it on eBay could land him in hot water with eBay and possibly the authorities. And the invitation to log his/her cache without actually visiting? Nice. Keeping the spirit of geocaching alive, along with the value of personal integrity. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this whole issue stirs my viscera in a most unpleasant way.
  13. You've got to be kidding me. Call me old-fashioned, but I thought the best way to give a trackable some miles was to go geocaching? This explains a lot... As for me, before I release any more geocoins, I'm going to drill, baby, drill.
  14. Yay, the mission is on the move again! That's a great package, BuckeyeView. Thank you for sharing the bounty of sweetlife's generosity! No to jinx things, but it looks like we're nearly there, folks. I think that's more than a little fantastic: Maine Family Azure Sky Six Little Spookies BlueEyedAussie scificollector Ashallond LilSmiths docwahala Penny and Kona LewisClan77 eseurat sweetlife Buckeyeview TeamECCS21 usyoopers EyeD10T
  15. Congratulations, LewisClan77! I bet my long-distance migrant could beat up your short-distance migrant. Enjoy the coin!
  16. I bought in eBay one of each for my collection, last year, and according to the data that I have: Nazca Lines Condor: Five editions LE (50 each): Antique Silver & Red, Polished Nickel & Blue, Polished Nickel & Red/Orange, Antique Bronze, Antique Bronze & Turqoise. Label by landsharkz.ca Nazca Spider: I've seen four editions LE (40 each): Shiny Gold & Purple, Nickel & Blue, Nickel & Green, Nickel & Black. Labeled by montereycoins.com I think both coins are from 2010 And I *think* these are mine! Amazing things happen when you throw an idea out there. I'll post pictures when I get them! I believe what I mean to say is: trade made
  17. First I've heard of them. Who made/sold them? CF30 that's what I'd like to know! I can't find anything here in the forums about them. There are several activated ones on gc.com, which makes me think they're older. Unfortunately, none of the activated coins' pages says anything about who minted them, how many versions there were, etc. It's moments like these that I don't like the untrackable history associated with these shiny trackable items! There is a blue one on the eplace right now... I spit on the e place. PTOOEY! But I think thee for giving me another version to look for.
  18. First I've heard of them. Who made/sold them? CF30 that's what I'd like to know! I can't find anything here in the forums about them. 19. Thanks!! I've been working 7 days a week since Memorial Day and this has kind of slipped my mind 2). If you're a writer go for it!! You have been hired as the PGR VI PR director... Its pays very well Anything you can think of to spur interest is fine. On the Going Coastal front, we'd love to have you come. It will be fun if its half of what it was last year. And its 5 events bigger this year. If you come I'd love the help. I figure it wont take long to hand out the racers with nearly 500 cachers being present. Get a hold of me if/when you know you are going to be there. Ah, now I can add "PR Director" to my resume! And with that enviable salary, I can afford to enter FIVE racers! I just emailed you for your mailing address. After two years in the PGR, I know I should have it already. Better work on my organization skills if I'm to be PR Director.
  20. I am interested in trading for the following coins: Nazca Spider and Nazca Condor. I have no preference on color or metal, as I have no idea how many versions of each were created! I found some pictures from activated coins, if it helps:
  21. I think this depends... ...If you picked up the coin FROM a geocache, then you would select "Retrieved from __geocache name here___" ...If you picked up the coin from another person, or found it in another cache altogether, then "Grab it" would be better. There are also other things you can do to make sure the coin's mileage is correct, but those options are best saved if/when you really need them. After you type in the tracking number and the coin's page appears, it should tell you "where" the coin is in the "Recently spotted" section. If the coin is in a geocache, the geocache's name will be listed here. This is definitely the easiest route!
  22. Giving this thread a "bump" to drum up participation! Coiners, you have a little over three months to enter your racers. This is a fun and organized way to get some racers in the world. If you have an extra coin (or two, or three,...) lying around, think about activating it, letting Shilo punch a hole through it, and attach a tag that lets everyone know it's in a race.
  23. Congratulations to anne.and.eli for a fabulous photo (and what was probably a great trip)! Congratulations to E&Cplus3 for having a really great coin that I'll be looking to acquire! Thank you for the cointest as well. All those photos made me want to travel...and geocache, of course.
  24. Is it too late to vote? Pretend this is a valid, overseas ballot, and I vote for C. Awesome!
  25. Incoming mission received! Email sent: 8 June 2011 Name received: 27 June 2011 Package sent: 21 July 2011 Package received: 1 August 2011 And what a mission! Thank you SO MUCH to Team Luvbassn for assembling a thoughtful and fun mission. My coin to keep is an Everglades National Park geocoin. I have no idea how they found one, for these have been sold out for over two years now, but THANK YOU! The rest of the package was inspired by the Everglades and travel in general. For my trackable to place, a cute Geico gecko and toad friend - I'll find a nice spot for them shortly! I also received a personal coin from Team Luvbassn - very nice and an extra-special surprise. If my recipients are half as happy as I was, then this will have been a successful mission, indeed! I have to say that the petrified gator foot in the "OK" gesture position just might have to become a travel bug...I'm not sure I can handle that for very long! I mean literally, I don't want to touch it to start the car every day, but it brought a great smile!
