  1. Any chance we can see the pictures, too? It's always fun to share...almost like a birthday party for realsies!
  2. I am really interested in finding more of the Lotus Compass geocoins. I received one version in a mission and would like to see more. I've just updated my trading/seeking list (see signature), so if anyone has some extra Lotus Compasses and if anyone trades anymore, please see if I have anything you're interested in! Thanks in advance for looking!
  3. One of my geocoins that I marked missing in May has returned to the world of geocaching! Thank you to all geocachers who know how to move trackables: TB2CBRE Not as exciting as the returns of those coins that have been missing for more than a year, but a small victory for travelling geocoins nonetheless!
  4. Four days left to get in on the mother of all birthday missions! If you have a birthday between May and October, you have until 30 September to let me know if you want to participate! Please read the complete instructions to make sure you know what you're getting into. It can be a lot of fun to receive AND to give. The pictures posted here and in last year's birthday mission will give you an idea of what makes a good mission. Thanks, and happy birthday to those who are already assembling or who have received their missions!
  5. Thank you all for being so patient! I haven't received many additional postcards in over a week now, so the reading and deciding begins! I will keep my promise to include a photo of all postcards that were submitted and considered for this cointest. In addition, I will provide overall numbers of how many postcards there were, representing xx number of countries, etc. Just a few more days now!
  6. This is such fun! I love Trivial Pursuit. Of course, my bit of trivia has to be about birds. Enjoy, and thanks for this cointest, AlliedOz! Q: Which species of bird holds the record for the longest annual migration? A: Thanks to new data from satellite transmitters, there are TWO possible answers: Nepgvp Grea Fbbgl Furnejngre
  7. Is anyone interested in stepping up to run the 2010 November-December birthday missions? This person should be identified relatively quickly, so that the mission can run more smoothly and without interruption. If you have questions about what is involved, please email me via geocaching.com It's not too complicated, so don't let the "I've never run a mission" mentality discourage you! You do need to be available and have reliable internet, though.
  8. For any May, June, July, August, September or October birthdays remaining: If you want to participate in the 2010 Birthday Misison, there is still time! Specifically, there are TWO WEEKS remaining for those of you with a birthday between 1 May and 31 October! If you are interested, please check out the guidelines for what makes a good mission (to send AND receive), and email me that you will participate. There are a few questions I need you to answer, and you can find those on post #94. On September 30th, I will wait until midnight to gather all of the names and pair them up. I will mail out your mission assignments as soon as everyone is paired. Sound good? Then sign up! PS Please email me with your interest through my account at geocaching.com .
  9. I didn't know there was a magazine for geocaching! Maybe I should visit the "Resources" link on geocaching.com a bit more often? Very thoughtful...the gift that keeps on giving, if you will. And better than the "jelly of the month" club! (that's a movie reference for those of you who thought that last bit came out of left field) And here's an update for my mission: 1. Participating: Yes, email sent (to myself) 25 August 2010 2. Mission Name Received: Yes, email sent from myself 1 September 2010 3. Outgoing Mission Mailed: Yes, 14 September 2010 4. Incoming Mission Received: Fingers crossed that the package arrives safely and that the contents are pleasing!
  10. In addition to hoping there are leftover le chat rampant versions, I am also hopeful that there will be some leftover saltwater taffy. Have fun at the event, Anne! This is most important. Your coins will be more than a hit, so don't sweat that part!
  11. Are these the ones you have or are looking for? Or is this your complete list? I know there are Jack Russell Terrier coins, suncatcher style. If you don't have them, I know where you can get two of the versions.
  12. I've been receiving my watchlist updates, the most recent two being on the 6th and 7th of September. Have you been bad, Shilo?
  13. I'll second that emotion! I think it would be exciting to be one of the first geocachers to help racers at the starting line. Since I can't be one of them but do have a racer, I'd love to see how they start out. Even a photo of one of them with their mission instructions, guidlines, etc.
  14. As long as the vehicle is not a Jeep, as those have been done in a few different color schemes: I like sending geocoins out into the world, and definitely like the idea of races. However, I'm not sure those who frequent these forums are as keen to do so. If you check out the Premier Geocoin Race, you can see the number of participants over the years. Please keep your progress updated here, as I'd be interested!
  15. Mission 1 is on its way to the next recipient! I have also logged the mission's visit to Texas with the trackable coin that opalsns donated, and it is in my inventory until Mission 1 lands on the other side of the pond!
  16. The most recent requests for "pay it forward" adoptions have been heard! I have some extra coins that I will activate and adopt over to: ice13-333 T1mmy bootblackblast ice13-333 - I'm thinking you should be able to "pay it foward" sooner than anybody. You've got at least one very cool geocoin that you've created and are sure to have extras, right?! Adoption requests to follow...
  17. I received a FANTASTIC surprise in the mail just before the Labor Day holiday: Mission 1 has arrived in Texas! Thank you, ELTADA for some great coins - all new to me, and very much appreciated - and for helping get my holiday weekend off to a fun start. The next recipient has already been chosen and the package will be shipped INTERNATIONALLY on Tuesday. Happy trails and safe travels to Mission 1! Thanks, opalsns, for hosting this mission - still one of a kind and with a good chance of visiting all remaining members! Congratulations to all precious recipients, and to those who have yet to receive: don't give up hope!
  18. I think this would have made a great geocaching nickname, not to mention a great personal coin! However, I need to talk with the state biologists of Minnesota: a tick is an arachnid, not a bug. No worries, I am not that tightly wound, folks. The pun made me laugh and I'm sad that I have not shot at even seeing one of these since I can't got o GCF. Definitely something to look for, you lucky attendees, you! *Edited to add: I have a mailbox - all ticks and loons welcome!
  19. Steal away! It is really a lot of fun to see what comes in the mailbox, and to get to know fellow coin collectors a bit better. Trades are great, but don't quite allow the same level of interaction as a postcard might require. Santa Cruz is represented. If anyone else wants to ensure their postcard is here, please email me through my gc.com account and give me a hint as to where your postcard might be from. There are four that aren't signed, but I think I know who they belong to based on their postmark.
  20. Hello, everyone! I've received 34 postcards already, and just over 50 participants. Some of you are just incredibly creative, witty, and charming! A few of you, if you are not writing for a living, may have missed your calling. Some postcards are arriving rapidly. Grodan Karin - your card arrived today, and the postmark from Sweden is 31 August! Wow. I would like to give everyone's postcard a chance to get here, but don't want to be waiting forever to announce a winner. This is probably more time than necessary, but I'll announce a winner on 30 September. If any postcards are out-standing at the point, well.... stuff happens. IF all postcards that I'm expecting (I've been keeping a spreadsheet) come in before then, I'll announce the winner early. Thank you again to everyone who participated. This month's trips to my mailbox have been so entertaining, and it's definitely because of the postcards, as I've only completed one trade. In addition to announcing the winner, I'll take a picture of all postcards received, so you all can have a bit of the fun as well. Stay tuned!
