  1. There is a puzzle series that I have solved and put all the corrected co-ords on the cache pages but I want to know if there is a way to view these corrected coordinates on a map to plan the best route to collect them all. Thanks
  2. Have you submitted it for review yet? You get the gc number once you have saved the draft information. When ready you submit for review and only once the reviewer publishes it will it be active.
  3. Awesome... thanks... thats just what I was looking for!
  4. Ok I am sure this has been asked before but I have had a look through the forums and searched under terms I thought would give me the link to the threads but its just not my night... Where can I download some information to put into the cache to say what it is all about in case a muggle finds the cache? Thanks in advance.
  5. Aha got it - thank you. When you click 'submit cache' it doesn't actually submit it you just save it. Submitting it is another step after the 'submit cache' stage...
  6. Ok this is going to sound really stupid but here goes... I am ready to submit my first cache. I have to put the GC code in the cache but cant get that until I submit the form but cant submit the form until I have placed the cache.... so how do you usually do this??
  7. Its rated 5 for difficulty and therefore is intended to be difficult to find.... as the page says its not about the number its about the bragging rights... go again and search EVERYWHERE... read the logs and look at the pictures. The only thing not to do is ask for help as per the CO's request...
  8. Go to your quick view page. Down the right hand side under premium features it says notifications. Click to edit the one you want to stop and scroll right to the bottom where there is a box you Enable Notifications (Uncheck to Pause) and simply unclick it :-)
  9. I regularly cache with my 4 and 6 year old and although they do love looking at the 'treasure' we very rarely take anything - rather we have a little pack in our kit of things to leave for the next person - mini toy skateboards, badges, keyrings etc. They are still in wonder at the mere fact we are searching and finding the caches hidden in so many different ways. I regularly get the 'Can we just look for one more - just one??' If you build their hopes up before you go unfortunately you and they will be disappointed.
  10. Type it into google... that usually works for me :-)
  11. Here is the link for the Groundspeak app: https://www.geocaching.com/live/ I started with the one for iphone but have enjoyed caching so much I have actually bought a dedicated gps because I found I could not cache for long enough with the phone as it drained the battery too quickly. Dont know how it works on an android but on and iphone there is a free intro app which gives you a taster of the game and will let you navigate to caches. I found it very accurate. If you want to upgrade to the full app please be aware that other users have pointed out that there are two upgrades - a membership upgrade to premium and the full app upgrade - which are two different things and gets confused quite easily.
  12. Yup I second Bear and Ragged... I have GC and just run a pocket query, open it up when its run, drag and drop to the folder on the GC and voila a few minutes later and its ready to go...
  13. Don't get too frustrated with yourself just keep on going... you will find them but they can sometimes be very tricky. Go back another day and you never know you might spot it - not by doing anything different then you did today but sometimes you just see it and sometimes not.
  14. I started out with the phone app but when I realised how much I was enjoying it I did buy a gps (Magellan gc). I did this mainly because my battery kept rinsing really quickly and I couldn't cache enough in one day with it :-)
  15. Hmm this sounds like a whole lot of fun. Have never put out a trackable but could be interested in setting one off from New Zealand... can you send me some more information. Thanks.
  16. I have a GC and simply run a pocket query (which you can being a premium member). When its ready to download plug your GC into your computer open the download and drag the gpx file to the one called Geocaches and the waypoints file to the Waypoints file et voila you are out the door and on your way...
  17. Thanks to everyone for your questions and answers so far as I have managed to set up the maps and settings etc just reading through the forums. However, I do have one query - is there a setting that I can enable so that when I view the map I can see local geocaches (rather than having to go and look at the list for local ones).
  18. Hmm well I only got mine in December. Changed the batteries earlier and then tried a factory reset still nothing. A bit later thought I would try looking at it again and hey it was back.... spent the afternoon caching with it. Very strange... I had already emailed the store I bought it from so have it logged in case it happens again...
  19. Dont know whats happened but was out happily caching on thurs morning with my gc and then turned it off when I thought I had finished for the day but lo and behold a couple of friends were heading out on a hunt for an elusive one so turned it on to join them but it wouldnt get a signal. Turned it off and on again a couple of times and it got one eventually. Just went to head out this morning and turned it on and again no signal to be found. Anyone had this before or any advice for me as to what to do?
  20. I was typing up this whole post regarding notifications and not getting them though I was sure I had set it up correctly when I realised the error... W instead of E in the coordinates for base - doh!! Of course they were not coming through... So thank you for being there to post to as its helped me sort out the issue you never knew I had
  21. Wow just had to look this one up to see what it was all about... wish there was a tb hotel near me... sounds so awesome. Is the cache in plain sight just like in the pictures or is it further covered up?
  22. Try using chrome rather than internet explorer... found that worked for me...
  23. Just wondering if I can do a search for caches with favourite points? Am going out of town and wont have a lot of time so I want to make the time I have count if you know what I mean... Thanks in advance.
  24. Yup pocket query for local 1000 caches and then load onto gps.... As Gitchee-Gummee says this is a premium member only option so if you bought the gps new last year it likely came with a 30 day free trial to premium. Its only $30 for the year so take the plunge and you can load to your hearts content and even get some caching in whilst on holiday :-)
  25. I had the same issue when I began and changed to chrome which helped. I also found out about software called vantage (maybe vantage point) and that's awesome. You run your pocket query in geocaching website which will sync to vantage and then when you plug your gc in to connect you choose to sync and a few minutes later you are loaded with caches and ready to roll. Have a look on you tube there are some videos showing you step by step how to do this.
