  1. For us we only visited Historical Markers. We like to keep our numbers accurate so will log it. Since its not active like geocaching is, there's no thrill in being the first to visit, etc. like there is in Geocaching. If you created a Waymark and it automatically added to a visited number, then no wouldn't log it.
  2. Played around and didn't see an option to change the date in which a post can be logged. We ask because we started this account last December and needed to record all of the ones we have previously visited and a majority are logged in December and January. Starting photographing historical markers as early as 2010 so would like to see the charts show our accurate data. Thanks,
  3. It won't let me edit the above post so I'll just give you an update. The star's on Google Maps is very well worth the time plotting to ensure their accuracy of the location. I just did 100+ Historical Markers through Ohio / Kentucky - gas - food - hotel. So time saving, I wish I could label the stars for better organization but I'd recommend trying this out to everyone. Thanks!
  4. I only find Historical Markers, I find it on Google Maps, verify the accuracy on Google Street. Save the coordinates or address if it's accurate (SMH!!) and put the name of the Marker. Is it on the RIGHT or LEFT side, is it a regular size, medium, or mounted HM. and then leave a note of where to park. Since every other church in Michigan is considered for a HM, i just say church parking lot - simple. On the day of actually finding them, I print them off Bullets 1, 2, 3.. etc. and type thing in the phone on Google Maps. The rest you can say is history. I have about 855 left in Michigan. Over 1/2 way done!!!!
  5. So first off let me say, I was pissed at Google Maps for deleting the My Maps feature on the mobile, this update occurred as I was about to leave on a 30 or so destination SO I just printed off the coordinates/addresses and manually typed them in. Google Navigation since then has drained my battery. I then would just type in the address / coordinates and look and see which roads I need to turn on, which honestly is easy. BUT 2 weeks ago, I accidentally "saved" a location on Google Maps, which is the Yellow Star. The star didn't leave the map, its there unless you turn it off. Last week I thought, why not save all the locations? When you want to go to 1 you just select the star, and its already there. This hasn't been tested on a full route yet but I know it will run smoothly since their locations are accurate. That's the only downside is ensuring accuracy, that's time consuming but hope it will be worth it. here's an example, you may need to have an Instagram account to view this -
  6. Hit 911 markers visited in Michigan this weekend, which is more than half of the overall markers in the state. I wish there were less plaques that just say the name of the house and more regular sized markers and less churches. It seems 1 church per city has a marker, skimming through Ohio's markers - it appears to be a lot less churches. But Churches are the easiest ones to park at so I shouldn't be complaining. Still on good pace to clear 1,200 this year. Still have those 70 in Detroit, 20ish in Flint and Lansing. Marshall, Albion, and Battle Creek have a combined 60-70 which will be a fun day, the UP now is the challenging one and getting out to the SW part of the state.
  7. Because the coordinates on Remarkable Ohio are off and this site isn't that accurate for a few south of Toledo and between Columbus I've noticed - unless they fixed them. Thanks for the info though, you're right they do have more info on Waymarking pages. Kind of reversed up here in Michigan, MichMarkers.com basically gives us everything we need, a picture and coordinates. Guess we have it easy up here. I have found that occasionally the coordinates for the Remarkable Ohio site are off a little but fairly close and their description of the locations to be very good. What do you know about the one's for Hancock County on Remarkable Ohio, it says the one for Findlay College is east highway 23 and on 1000 Main Street when I know that's in the city of Findlay, right off of 75? That's why I'm asking so we can find errors like this, what I do when designing a route is verify its location by using Google Maps - Street view.

  9. Does anyone know which one is more accurate for Ohio Historical Markers? This site or the one through Ohio government - http://www.remarkableohio.org/ I honestly don't think the one the state is accurate and the website isn't that easy to use while the category here seems accurate but not sure if all the markers are added here. I've added 60 here in Michigan in various parts of the LP and wouldn't want to miss one that was nearby if I'm driving from Detroit to Findlay. I rarely miss any because MichMarkers.com is accurate for the most part. Thanks,
  10. We have 800+ HM's in Michigan visited to date, 1/10/14. Aiming for 1,200 and all 70 remaining HM's in Detroit, MI through 2014 Maybe more HM's from Ohio and possibly another state too!
  11. Hello, We photograph historic markers and log them our Facebook.com/USHistoricMarkers We have a question regarding your state's historic markers for future reference. For Michigan we have a website michmarkers.com and we check here secondly if there are any concerns since getting to these are normally cut and dry unless you can't read a map LOL. Our question though is: We have submitted 55 markers in our state that are still standing and awaiting approval on here because no one else has Posted them. Does your state have a good website like MichMarkers.com or do you visit this site for the locations of the Historic Markers. If you're wondering about those for Ohio, we just happened to come across those! HAHA! Thanks!
