  1. nalgene will break. DiS02 had some from her paintball playing days, about 8 yrs old, that had been exposed to sunlight for 6 mths before she recieved them. When she was getting ready to do her CAA cache she figured she would use 1 of them, emptied & cleaned of course. First one she dropped & shattered in many shards, 2nd shattered also when she got umm mad & tossed it onto the ground. (not concrete or cement but plain old wooody dirt). 3rd & last one lasted until it got muggled, she wrapped cloth camo tape (like hunters use on their guns during season) to help protect it, just in case & it had been flat spray painted to help blend in. None of these bottle were exposed to gas fumes because they were stored with our lexan lenses, & gas hates lexan, eats it right up. They are a good idea but dont expect them to never break, everything eventually breaks, rusts, or walks off it its nice enough. We were going to use a old otter box but we figured that would walk off fast for where we wanted to use it. And the wildlife refuge wont let us chain it to the tree
  2. Riffster is correct, paintball loaders are water resistant, not waterproof. As former paintballers we dove into shallow creeks & had to dump our front tubes cause they got wet. We played in a hurricane rain many yrs ago up in the Poconos that trashed our balls again, due to the tubes getting wet. Then again our balls on the gun were just as wet so we gave up since everyone was wearing ponchos & cheating anyway. If you dont mind doing constant maintenance on them then they are as good as mint tins, but not a excellent idea. I picked up some neat tupperware style containers at my local dollar store, they just arent branded tupperware. But they have that flexible lid on them, rubber like. Not as good as lock n locks but lock n locks are hard to come by here right now & expensive. For some reason our local wally worlds dont stock em & the local food beast occasionally has them for over $7 for a medium size. We have been testing the rubber lid container for a couple months now & so far its staying dry inside, the only issue is the paint is flexing off the lid lip wheres it being pulled to open.
  3. Like it or not BlueDeuce, 2 of our members have placed their own caches, one of them a CAA cache. Another a nice ammo box cache in a nice area to see ospreys. The CAA has been muggled at least once & was replaced with a a non swag cache with no requirement that visitors refill it. The ammo box started out with some nice swag but has since degenerated a bit but we dont mind. Both caches were placed for the views & getting people to see something new, not for swag trading. Least we werent jerkheads & took the items with no noting it, unlike others we have seen, not in our caches but other local caches. Something it seems occurs everywhere in this sport, but is part of life, sometimes. We prefer the places & views that caches take us, we even like nanos in shopping lots/rest areas. The only ones we dont really care for are unmaintained caches & puzzle caches. Not everyone likes the same things, thats what makes every person unique. Call it the Wimpy way, doesnt matter, we could have been thieves but thats not us. So whatever. Sheesh
  4. Some of us were out caching on a biz trip so we didnt have our normal swag bag with us, 1 person wanted this cool pic in the cache. Course none of us had any bills smaller than a $20 so we couldnt leave a wheresgeorge bill even. Point is we logged it in our online logs that on our next trip there we'll leave something as replacement for taking something without leaving something. So far the owner hasnt beefed about it to us & yes, the trip is about 2 hrs from us but we do get up there every few months, normally. We figure if the owner beefs too much we'll ask for the snailmail addie & mail it to them as replacement, or to another trusted cacher up that way. But it seems this owner is cool & we didnt lie that we didnt TNLN. Sometimes you see something cool in a cache, least log ya took it & offer online to replace it at a later date or snailmail it to the owner to be placed in the cache. Least thats our policy, usually we TNLNSL.
  5. Thanks all for the suggestions, gonna see now if I can find some rite-rain paper locally 1st & go from there. As this area gets pretty humid it might work a lot better than reg paper. As to Kit, I did search but couldnt find it by title & way too many returns to read each & every one. Glad you were able to find it though. But since I figure these boards are for asking thats what I did, if ya dont like it might I suggest politely to skip posts ya dont like then? Anyways thanks to all & special thanks to KA7CJH for the help, its appreciated. And no, I never even thought of a shredder as we have a cross-cut but my partner has access to a strip cutter elsewhere. Danke, DR
  6. I was talking with another cacher & she told me that her Garmin V will average an point so she can then mark it. But we were unable to find it on her Legend (non CX). Have we missed it somewhere? Or does it just do it automatically on the Legend? She wants to give up her V but since she places caches if the Legend cant do it then she will have to keep the V for cache placing. Any ideas/suggestions/thoughts? Thanks
  7. Okay, I could have sworn I saw this on someones website a few nites back but its possible I imagined it. We have several lil nanos that we need logslips for & of course will need replacement slips eventually. I think it was like a 4pk for 1.29 or something, they may have had some really low priced nanos for sale also. Anyone know what site it might be? Appreciate any help as I cant find it in my bookmarks.
  8. Miller Neck Tract of Assawoman Bay State Park/Wildlife Area to be exact is sort of behind Bethany Beach, about another 20 mins (depending on traffic) headed south towards Ocean City MD. If you want Virts, Bethany Beach & Rehoboth Beach both have cameras. James Farm has 2 nice caches, 1 a reg old traditional & 1 a puzzler. James Farm is just north of Bethany Beach & a really nice wildlife area. Cape Henlopen has some nice ones but not sure if they are "Park approved" (a requirement here in DE) & there is a entrance fee to the parks at that time. Prime Hook to the north has a cache or two, then if you head inland a bit there is Piney Neck tract of Assawoman Bay Park over by Dagsboro with 4 nice caches. I'm sure more will appear before then, I know DiS02 has a few up her slippery sleeve still but not sure where. She doesnt want to deprive me of the fun finding her caches. DR
  9. Not bashing either side here, I dont have a personal coin right now & dont see one in the near future. I do know one thing though that has been brought up several times already.. if you are having a personal/group coin made up by any geocoin maker then be dang sure you know what every single word in that contract says & means. Know how it can possibly affect you in the future & how the coinmaker does things. I know that many companies make samples, doesnt matter if its websites, geocoins, military challenge coins, pins, etc. They do it as stated for portfilios to show prespective customers, its a fact of life & has been in the past for people like artists & photographers. They usually make sure of how their work is used though. Anyways... Anthus(?) was told to contact to contact the die holder directly because no matter what they said (s)he wouldnt believe them anyways. Look towards the bottom of that clip about it. My family & myself have no intention of cancelling any subscriptions we have, we plan on dealing with who we have in the past & lessons learned are good things. End of story for me.
  10. Let me know when you are ready Di and what size blanks so I can drop them off. Smacking the topic back to the top too 8)
  11. Too funny, yup, some of us dont have highspeed for various reasons that would bore others, so getting links to sites that love using videos is frustrating at best. But thank you for the explaination, it helps.
  12. Someone care to share more info than some highspeed needed link? Thanks
