  1. Just an idea, I just got a new wireless phone with sprint. It has the pcs vision (in case you don't know, it allows internet accessibility) Has anyone ever tried to log on to the geoaching site with their phone? sprint has certain sites that are formatted especially for navigation on a their tiny phone screens. unfortunately geocaching.com isn't one of them. I wanted to try to use it to look up caches in the field instead of printing all of them out. I wonder if geocaching.com could work with sprint to make it an accessible site. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do I need to breakdown and buy a pda? I think I'm going to get the premium membership anyway. 2. My sportrak pro usually gets me within 20 feet of the cache -- sometimes right on top of it -- sometimes more than 20 feet away. But generally it's right in the neighborhood. Now all they need is to develop a gps with a laser that points right to it. That'd take the fun out of hunting through the bushes though.
  3. Is it right hand only? What's it mean if you do it with your left hand?
  4. You are right -- it is an external monitor port. I do have two USB ports though. Do you know if an adapter exists to hook it up to one of them? Thanks again for your help.
  5. hello, Got a quick response on my last question, so I thought I'd ask another one! My laptop only has a female serial port. My cable for my sportrak pro also has a female connection... is there an adapter that I can attach to one or the other to get them to work?
  6. hello, I downloaded a region to my sportrak pro for the first time. I noticed that the map did not sync up with my actual location. when i was driving down a road, my little arrow locator would be just off to the side of the road and not on it. Before I downloaded the map, if i drove down the same road my locator would show up on the road that i was traveling. does that make sense? I tried reinitializing, it didn't work. thanks for any input.
  7. News Producer. Inside all day, love geocaching because it gets me out in the fresh air!
  8. I'm going to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks in just a few months. I have a sportrak pro and would like good detailed maps... mainly concerned with roads, hiking trails, rivers, points of interests and such. Can anyone recommend a good product for me? I have MapSend Streets & Destinations USA. I'm not very impressed with it. It is not very detailed. Thank you.
  9. Still says $50 rebate../em shrugs. maybe it's because I got mine online. Instore rebate may be for more.
  10. okay, i'm new to this. just got my gps unit for christmas... and found my first cache today! woohoo! so i'm sort of figuring out how to use the device.. but where can i get a good explanation of what all the numbers(the coordinates) mean... and how do i properly say a coordinate?
  11. I got my sportrak pro for christmas as well. my wife got it from costco. it only came with a $50 rebate. $100 would be nice... but it was still a good deal considering you get gps unit, carrying case, cigarette lighter adapter, computer adapter and mapsend.
  12. Thanks a bunch for the quick responses. Especially the info on advancedgps.com -- I'll check out the costco.
  13. Hello, My wife is getting me a gps unit for Christmas. I've decided to go with the Magellan Sportrak Pro. I found a website online that sells them for $239.95 w/free shipping. The company's name is AdvancedGPS. I think they are out of California. I was wondering if anyone knows if they are reputable or if anyone has any experience with them before I make my purchase. Thanks in advance. [This message was edited by mhdennis on November 30, 2002 at 03:54 PM.]
