  1. Can't wait to get my hands on this new toy. Have been contemplating a nick name for it. Have been toying with: "Whim", "Drive By", "Park& Cache", "Simplex". However, a recent poster mentioned something about the kids having to go potty sooooooooooo. "The Kids Have To Pee ", and "Tinkle" are in the running. Anyone care to help name my new Geo Toy???????
  2. For a limited time GPS'r units from REI are shipped without freight charges ... The GEOMATE Jr. qualifies!!! But wait, it gets better. I ordered some backpacking gear and on a whim had the GEOMATE Jr. placed on the order. YEP the entire order shipped at no freight charge. Huge THANKS to REI
  3. Could not be more appropriate ... but hey what do I know
  4. Same as everyone with a non-mapping GPS does, I suppose. [/quote " Just like the old days ... only better " REI and I have chatted and this will be a great supplement to the already overstocked stable. Cache on

  6. 10-4 to the comments from yogazoo. Yep I did the Colo., the Ore., PN20 and PN40 >>> guess what, old trusty 60CSX remains my " go to unit "
  7. Knowing and utilizing the resources ( All ) completely and effectively. If you got them, use them. Cache on.
  8. IMHO ... well maybe not so humble ... I can not put the 60CSX out to pasture. Yes it may be long in the teeth but that sucker is rock solid. I have dispatched 2 Colorado 400t's and 2 Colorado 300's to Vallhala. Currently have Oregon 300's, PN 20 & PN40's in the stable serving the rest of the crew in a variety of capacities. ******* BUT I CAN NOT PUT THE 60CSX out to pasture.
  9. Hi, Can't help with a GPS'r, however, we have 2 openings for Philmont this coming August want to chat??
  10. Consider purchasing at REI the Colorado Series is heavily discounted, PLUS the return policy is outstanding. Many other outlets do not have such a stellar return policy and you will be stuck. >>> from someone who returned 4 Colorado Series units ( 400t X2, 300 X2 )

  13. OMG, OMG, OMG, You worked one of my caches in Calif. ADA Pg. 62 of the DeLorme Calif.Challenge
  14. Hi and Geo Greetings from Calif, stay tuned, have something in the cooker ... " film at 11:00 ".
  15. Great meeting 1/11/09 which included De Lorme representatives in tele conference for two hours!!! Amazing to see such support. KUDOS to all involved.
  16. Congratulations! You're the first to invoke the "think of the children" notion that will be used to justify these invasions of privacy. I am sure " they " are many steps ahead of me on that path.
  17. We are already there with GPS enabled phones. Much more useful for LE. Orwell was correct, just about 70 years off.I agree and a big 10-4 Cars already have computers that track all your moves in the car. No need for a GPS, just tap into that computer. The interesting thing about government inquiries in my experience is that they only know just enough about any particular subject to either implement rules that require complex and expensive solutions or fix the problem while creating 4 other, bigger problems.
  18. Well now, A different twist. Lets just say that a law enforcement agency had a curiousness about a particular individual, for what ever reason, it might not be a far stretch that a warrant might be obtained, records retrieved ... poor pity the dumb box of rocks that by happenstance just happened to be in the area and took a similar road trip. Sure a good attorney could fill in the gaps, however, poor Joe Dipstick might not get the brightest nor most motivated bulb in the package. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds a little Orwellian doesn't it ( George Orwell "1984" ) However, it might have been nice to have had the technology in place when trying to unravel the Caylee case. ( missing toddler from Florida - now confirmed as deceased ). I Know, I know, I know ... When driving a big screw you need a bigger HAMMER
  19. As per Red 90, ... go with what you have in the stable. I might add a city navigator 2008 SD chip to the CSX 60 just for giggles and grins.
  20. Sadly, we Mac Dudes and Dudetttes are SOL at this point. Soon, however.
  21. Would it not be cool if the geocaching capable Nuvi 500 / 550 series could wirelessly " chat " with the Oregon. That feature has been suggested in written communication to the powers that be. Fingers crossed at this end. For Pete's sake why not geocache enable the entire Nuvi line and then enable wireless communication across the entire platform

  23. Hmmmmmmmmmmm firmware update to install propane heater transfer element and 5 gal. tank plus a pony cart. Tee Hee Hee Hee Hee
  24. Well there are many opinions out there. Garmin 60CSX is a rock solid performer, The Oregon series is finally at the gates of Happyland, however, an Oregon 200 will leave you wishing you had gone just a bit farther up the $ ladder, The DeLorme PN40 is a new kid on the block and is getting rave reviews, however, with any brand new run there are some hic ups to be expected. The DeLorme customer service folks are TOP NOTCH and actually speak ceocaching fluently.
