  1. So, I go out after work figuring I could grab a few local caches along this bike path by Henson Creek. I go right to the first one no problem. Now on to number two. A couple of Muggles stroll by so I need to buy time which I do. All clear....I go in. I'm dead on GZ as the digits were spot on. NOTHING. I spend a few mins. searching but I throw in the towel. It must be missing. I travel back to the parking area and on to one more shooting for 2 out of 3. As I exit the bike path and just as I cross the street about 8 cop cars converge on the area and swarm the path entrance! They tape off the bike path and start searching. They've even got a helo up for this search. Now I'm sweating from the walk but even more as I was just down that path. What if they're looking for me? Crap! 20 mins. sooner and I would have been wandering in the woodline searching for a cache no doubtedly I would have been spotted by the marksman in the helocopter. So, I approach the officers and explained that I was just down there, what are you looking for? They said a possible robery suspect! Great! I would have a blast explaining getting caught up in that. Talk about wrong place at the wrong time!!! :)

  2. Every year there are hundreds of grizzly and black bear that are injured in booby trapped pot fields that are not reported and hidden next to geocaches, and I'm glad this thread has made us aware of it.

Yeah, and if those bears weren't going after the pot...they'd be fine. You know they're just trying to get stoned. Silly bears! LOL

  3. OK. First off, I'll admit that I'm a newbie here. But, man some of these hides are unbelievable! So far I've had pretty good numbers with regards to finds but, now that I know I'll be going up against some of these.....it's gotta be the A-Game at all times. Now I'm sure everyone is smart about placement. Common sense would dictate but, I could see how someone might mistake a few of these for "Suspicious" items. The mechanical birdhouse is genius. But in the wrong loacation I could see someone becoming a little concerned.

    Just me $.02......

  4. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the CO isn't on military duty. It's been over a year and a half. And regardless of where he/she is deployed, they have internet access. There are Geocachers in Iraq and Afghanistan. I can't speak for them all but I'd think they'd make contact if they could. Either way, I'll give it some time to see if they contact me.

  5. I found a cache yesterday and an indivdual approached me claiming to be the land owner. I explained to him what Geocaching is and he didn't want to hear it. (King Muggle to say the least) He told me that he gave no one permission to "hide" anything on his property and he asked me to remove it so, I did. I have tried to contact the cache owner but I have not received a response and I see that the last time they were on was Jan. '07. It appears that they are out of the game. Do I just adopt the cache now? How long should I wait? Just wondering.
