  1. I have a new GPSr (MeriGold) and intend on bringing it with me on a Business Trip in a couple of days.... I checked SouthWest airlines and they allow GPSrs to be on during flight just like any other electronic device... Will I get through airport security? What is your experience? -Steven
  2. Thanks all for your replies... I will continue to use this forum and all the FAQs I can find as a valuable resource. Happy Trails! -Steven
  3. Hi.. I am expecting my MeriGold Travel Pack any day now... In anticipation, I am trying to figure out how much data I can load into the GPSr. I think I understand that you use the computer to select a region and then upload it to the GPSr. How big a region can that be? I am not expecting to load the whole country, but I live just 24 miles outside of Boston and frequently travel through New England. Is "New England" a fair size? Or do I have to settle for "Eastern MA" and then "Southern NH" and then "Conway, NH" - 3 separate regions? TIA... -Steven
  4. Thank you Max... I actually found Robert's site and the Yahoo group as well. I sure do think I did well.. time now, to get my butt in gear and do some caching.. I have no excuse to be a wallflower anymore.. See you in the field.. -Steven
  5. I just purchased the Meridian Gold. It should arrive in a week! I ended up purchasing the Magellan Meridian Gold Traveler pack. Harmony has them at a great price.. only $345 + rebate...such a deal. It is Magellan's "everything you need" package.. Including the MeriGold, DirectRoute, 64MB SD card, Vehicle Mounting bracket and 12V Cig/Data cable ----------- I am looking forward to playing with DirectRoute... Has anyone had any experience with it? -Steven

Including the MeriGold, DirectRoute, 64MB SD card, Vehicle Mounting bracket and 12V Cig/Data cable Only 3 left now at: http://www.shopharmony.com/product.asp?i=MAGMRDGOLTRAV Thank you for your input... now, I just have to wait a week for delivery and then I am finally off to the races, eh.. caches! 7. I apologize in advance if this topic is too common... I just finished gathering all my loose change and now have $300 for my first GPSr. Last year when I was looking at a possible GPSr, I had settled on SporTrak Pro and there were even great packages available with rebates at Costco. Now, I am thinking of the Meridian Platnium... (bigger screen, more features, and I have the $$, etc.) Are there any good package deals around like last year? Where would you put the $300? Thanks in advance... -Steven
  8. Well.. Using Goggle's new "News" search feature, I found this interesting article... GPS in the news - South Africa
  9. OK.. I am very impressed with all the reviews and information regarding GPSr "out there" on the web.... My question: How do you get a screen capture of the GPSr so it can be posted to a web page? An example can be found here TIA...
