  1. I suppose that I am trying to get in my GSAK database great caches. I have to pull 8 PQs (500 caches) just to get all of the caches in my home area (Las Vegas). This only results in about a dozen caches with 100+ favorite points. I suppose globally would work...there can't be that many 100+ favorite point caches out there...and those are the ones that shouldn't be missed. TeamT
  2. Is there a way to pull a PQ that will identify the caches with more than 100 favorite points? Possibly use someone's bookmark? Thanks in advance TeamTettamanti
  3. I figured it out myself. Here are the answers to the questions. I accidentally changed the name of the cartridge.
  4. I have a Moto Droid. I downloaded the WhereYouGo app from the market. I downloaded the tutorial cartridge from the Wherigo.com website. Here are a few questions. 1. What format do I need to download the cartridge from Wherigo in? I used Pocket PC but there are other choices. 2. Do I have to rename the cartridge extension to anything or just use it as is? 3. What directory exactly does the cartridge have to be in to work? I keep getting the "No Wherigo cartridge available. Add cartridge file into /mnt/sdcard/WhereYouGo directory and start WhereYouGo again!" error. Inside of the WhereYouGo directory is a directory called "cache" and inside that one there is one called "map" and inside that one, one called "tile".
  5. Finally found the app in the market and it installed well. I was running a 2.2 Froyo version that blacked out the market. Anyway, downloaded the app and installed it. Now I got the cartridge from Wherigo.com and saved it to my desktop and then transfered it to the phone via the usb cable into the correct directory. What is the extension supposed to be? I have the Motorola Droid with Froyo 2.2. What is the exact directory that it is supposed to be in?
  6. hi Matejcik, you're right, I just named save game as gws file, which really confuse players. So renamed to ows. about problem with ASPX files. As was many times wrote, and is also on WhereYouGo page on android market!!, you have to download cartridge through dektop PC browser, not buggy phone browser. All will work fine then (has extension "gwc", not "aspx"). Can't find this app in the market. Is it still available?
  7. Great idea....that works for us....a bit cumbersome, but it will do what we want. It doesn't have to be "ours" per se, just easier to see all items in the collection without having to do the workaround.
  8. It does sound silly, to be honest. Why would you want to do something like that? I suppose if you really wanted to, you could go through a bookmark, cache by cache, and add each cache to your own bookmark list. For collections....There is a series in SoCal called ATW80 (Around the world in 80 Days). There are 80 caches that someone has already bookmarked. I like the idea and want to remember to do these, but don't want to do a bookmark that someone already has done. It would be easier to just click a button to "copy" his bookmark somehow. Is there a way to do that?
  9. I found a few bookmark lists from other geocachers and would love to use his entries. Putting in each cache to an exact list of "mine" sounds silly since there is one already created. Is there a way to use someone elses bookmarks and call it my own?
  10. I just did an inventory on my cache and found there were 4 geocoins listed on the geocache.com page but none in the actual cache. How do I remove them from my page? Chris TeamTettamanti
  11. Occasionally, (maybe once or twice in the last two months) all of the waypoints will disappear from the screen. I will hook it up to the computer, and upload the same waypoints that were on there in the first place.....and GSAK will tell me that there is not enough room to upload. At that point, I delete the "empty" directory and upload again and everything is fine again. Weird, huh?
  12. That paging behavior can't be changed. It's now working properly.....I deleted empty directory, and reloaded with 950 waypoints.....when I looked for a cache and clicked "go to" it goes to the compass. I didn't do anything but reload the waypoints.....weird!
  13. I have an Etrex Cx and a 60CSx. On the Etrex, when I navigate to "find" and "geocaches" then select the cache, I get an overview of the cache, I then hit "Go to" and it brings me to a compass. I really like this feature. When I do the same on the 60CSx and I hit "Go to", it brings me to the map view. The question is, how do I change this setting to bring me to the compass instead of the map. Also, occasionally, ALL of my geocaches will disappear from the screen. I can't load any more until I "delete" the empty directory. Anyone else have this happen?
  14. Same problem with mine.....3.10 too.... Does anyone think that this will be fixed in the next firmware upgrade or is this a BIGGER problemn with the unit itself???
  15. My bank's website goes offline for an hour a week for "maintenance". Lord knows that I pay lots of fees to use the bank's services....but you don't see me crying/complaining/whining over not being able to access my balance or transfer funds online during this downtime. I know this is a bit different, but THIS site is up 99.9% of the time.....which is BETTER than my bank. I know that it takes a lot of money to have the servers and to have people manage the database. We should be happy it's only $3 a month..... If the little bit of downtime that this site has bugs you this bad, you need to find a different hobby or become a "non-premium member". I also agree that you are paying the $3 for the "extras" that the site has to offer. I have never missed a PQ because the site was down. Keep up the good work, guys! Some of us appreciate you!
  16. No problem here. Just hope you get it and it works fine. Peace. Whew....I was a bit nervous after I purchased the item due to your concerns....But the unit arrived yesterday and worked and was COMPLETELY new! The guy is a man of his word and a good guy! Chris
  17. Yes, to me....I think that the OP doesn't come to CG.com very often. That's interesting because I was working a deal with him last Friday and I was waiting on him to get his Paypal account verified. I didn't want to assume the risk of sending money to an unverified account. Sorry.....he didn't say that he was working on selling it to anyone.....and I didn't even notice his unverified Paypal acct.

  19. Most people buy them. There are many places including ebay. There are few instances where you can "keep" the coin....sometimes someone will put one in for a FTF or special prize. They are meant to travel and are similar to TB in that each coin probably has a goal. If you find one in a cache, you can log into GC.com and "discover" them by entering their serial number. You will be credited with icons for each one that you find and they will be on your left side of that page (under the TB). You may and are encouraged to take them and move them toward their goal....and you can log it and get the same icon. You do not need to leave anything in the cache if you take a TB or Geocoin....but it is nice.
  20. Try this http://www.tettamanti.com/gps.htm Hope that helps!
  21. First I delete all files in the palm to clear out the database. Then, I do two downloads to the Palm. One for "Not Found by me" and one for "Found by me" (directly from GSAK). I do these downloads to the palm separately so I can put them in the correct category (found and not found). You have to run the cachemate between downloads. My palm which is REALLY old (at least 6 years) holds at least 2,000 caches with logs. I do downloads to the palm about once every two weeks to get the latest logs. Hope that helps.
  22. I have the Vista Cx (c is for color and x is for expandable). I love mine! It is well worth the money. As for hiking and mapping, the maps that it comes with are poor. Garmin does sell Topo maps as well as maps of the streets for all cities. Most of the maps are fairly up to date if you get the latest versions. For geocaching, you really don't need the maps but they ARE nice. Two features that I don't use are the barometer and the altimeter.....although some people like these bells and whistles.
