  1. Ceres demonstrates that dogs aren't the only four legged friends that enjoy caching. This was her first find. I actually walked past the cache and she sniffed it out from its hiding place.
  2. As someone fairly new to the hunt, I use the main site to some degree, but for the most part, I use my phone. I don't use the Intro App, so I'm not familiar with its pros and cons. But if I may make a suggestion to a plausible solution. Use the intro app as a tool that will help those new to the hunt by: 1. Making the app a closed pre-programmed set of caches that users can hunt. These caches would be simple traditionals with nothing worth stealing and secured in such a way that they can't be stolen or damaged beyond use. 2. The App AND caches send the new hunters to the main GC website, 101 youtube videos, and/or local GC groups FB pages. 3. Cache Owners that agree to have their caches featured as a "tutorial cache" need to be veteran hunters that are willing to contact the new hunters and either offer to be a mentor or be able to make arrangements with other veteran hunters in the area.
  3. I recently began geocaching. I'm using both the website and the c:geo app to hunt with. Currently, I'm just hunting caches around my town, so I don't have any problems with the signal on my phone. When I finally start looking for looking for caches in the countryside (or in other countries, one can dream), I'll get a GPS unit. And when the caches on the map starts getting thin, I'll upgrade to a premium account so I can hunt the exclusive caches. That's the plan, anyways.
  4. So I'm fairly new to the hunt, only having 14 traditionals, 1 virtual, and 2 events, but I found using the c:geo app to be a big help. I haven't had to print anything off since it has all the relevant info (coords, detail, description, etc) as well as a live map and a few other features that don't require being a premium member. As for my hunting methods, I first look at my map (either on the app or my laptop) and break up the area into zones. When it's time to hunt, I pick a zone and go. Unless you're confident in your powers of observation, I also recommend hunting with a friend. From the caches that I've found, some of them are easy to miss as a novice, especially if they're 3 stars or more in difficulty. Good hunting.
