  1. looks a lot more then the rigs I have been seeing out in the brush now. There will be a lot of soil compaction under the "feet" of these things I would think. Hey Rubbertoe, I have yet to look at your logo but does it happen to just be a burnt off stump? The largest fire here in Oregon started in one of those "wilderness areas" for the tree huggers and I never did hear about any of "them" out building fire trail, just that

"their" pot fields where going up in smoke. icon_razz.gificon_razz.gificon_razz.gificon_biggrin.gif

  3. anything else. icon_biggrin.gif Red and I where traveling through one of the states -Az?; Utah; Nevada; ??? - a few years back when we heard a song dog singing, even as we where driving. We stopped in a wide spot, broke out the bino's and started looking for the fight. What we found was one dog in the open meadow and singing towards the other voice in the brush. As we watched, the singing got louder and more varied tones and we kept waiting for the pack to break out into the open. Camera ready. Camcorder ready. Lights, camera, action!!! One more dog popped out. One. Just one more singing like he was an entire gang. The two meet in the open, sniffed, yowled, chased tails, romped, and left. Just the two but they sounded like much more. But then again, We also had a large coyote chasing us around the hills while out for a walk. We had our large bow wow with us so things might have been over who was the boss for the area. Lots of noise out of 65 pounds of fur.

  5. I download all the caches for the areas I am going to go through, dump them into Easy gps to the Mag 330, out of the 330 to the laptop running NG TOPO !, check and see which caches are closest to the route I am going on, throw the rest out and then go back and download and print all the cache pages I need. Works for me anyway.

  6. for some heated replies from the other side of the coin. Experience talking. Been there several time already and have had no troubles except the last one. Bar-B-Que. Flamed real bad. I had insider information for some local areas, I thought I had passed it along in a manner that would get out and about. Wrong. Will it stop me from doing it again? Not if it is needed. I like this game to much to have it killed off. I do not raise a flag unless I believe there is a problem. I have all ways e-mailed the owner(s) first or a couple times and I have only had to get the Admin. involved a couple times. And that

was due to lack of response. My thought is if you know there has been a problem with an area before, try to work it out. If it is a new area without a comparable area that has had trouble ; IE State Parks, National Parks, etcetc, Then I think asking forgiveness instead of permission is a good way to go. BUT, you must be ready to either work with the persons who owns or control's the land your cache is in or promptly remove your cache if

requested to do so. Which ever path you choose in this matter, just ask your self what your response would be to your e-mail if you recieved it. Just reread the message your sending from the other side of the coin. Later, logscale :

  7. by about 350 miles right now but you never know. It seems as we have these extra print outs for somewhere North of Bend.......... If you happen to see a large Red truck parked in some out of the way places soon, well it aint us. Really, its not. Can't be. We are out of town, remember? icon_biggrin.gificon_wink.gif

  9. if "they" want the cache pulled from our web site, then "they" would have to pull any brochures for the park that mention anything about hiking, or trails, or views etcetc. I can see it now. "Welcome to our park. Hand us $20 and then go home. You are not allowed in to walk or look. It is ours. Thank you for your donation." Seems to me that the park board has a say in whom runs the park. Any geocacher(s) up for getting voted to the park boards???? I would send you a few bucks for your campaign.

  11. This combination works great for us. Spendy on the NG maps but we think well worth it for the details and ease of use. Import waypoints to NG or GPSr and upload to the other. Live tracking, lots of "hidden" detail information we have not been able to find on half a dozen other mapping programs, and if you have a big enough hard drive, you can upload all the cd's for the state or region and have seamless scrolling ( Mr. Scott, I need more power!!!). Tried MS S&T 2001 and have had nothing but trouble and just dumped it back out

  12. Really, The last I knew, All the caches around Bend had something good going for them. I would think just about any one of the Navdog caches would fit but most of them are a couple hours or more each. I would suggest if you have the time, search 99701 Zip and read the logs for the caches and see which ones interest you the most.

  14. Caches are one thing. They can be replaced. Now, the important part. How did your hunting area do? Are you going to have to scout out new ground? Same here. Lost our ground and have to move. icon_frown.gif

  16. any mapping store and they will help you out. Or go down to your local Wally world (WalMart) and get a simple plastic compass for school kids to draw with or get a good magnetic compass to show you which way to go and use it on your map. Line up the edge of the handheld compass with the edge of the map, line the map up so as it points North, sit your compass over a known point and dial your way to where your heading. If you get a book on "Orienteering" and it will show you how to.
