Does there happen to be a cooler of beer near you whenever you are near these lakes? :-) If you mean "how do I remove the maps", sendmap has a feature that does this. I suspect it uploads a 0-length or structurally minimal .img file. So you asume that i just get drunk near a lake and then cant even see the GPSr and think is bad right? well guess what, i dont drink and except for fishing or caching i dont frequent lakes but here in Florida every time you turn around there is a lake or pond. if you dont have nothing to contribute then beter dont say nothingor for you is all about the numbers also,or at least give out some info that i can probably use.But then again you might have been sitting on a cooler that probably had beer in it when you added this post.

Worked exactly as you said i had taken with me a cookie baking sheet to see if it will work and it did ,the GPSr worked fine as soon i took it of the sheet it whent crazy. will it work if i cover the back panel of the GPSr with tape?? guess is time for anothe test.LOL Thanks to all.

Ok i have 2 GPS antenas that were given to me at work were we use them in a system we have mounted in the trucks for loging and delivery.The problem is the cable that come out of the units are for a plug exactly the same as those used for network cables on computer(CAT 5 i think they are)can they be done like in USB plug? they also have a plug in the midlle that looks like a Svideo plug that from there they go into the network plug thing? Hey if they can be remade into USB whoever can do it can have 1 and give me one.

Why is it every time i get close to a lake or a big mass of water my etrex legend goes crazy? it will point in every direction except the right direction.LOL Are there any tricks to boost the reception on this unit? or any other hacks that can be done to it? And how do you take the GPSr back to fact specs after loading some maps from mapsource? been told that from garmin they have software to take it back to new specs but what is it im looking for been there and looked around but there is nothing that says its for going back to fact specs?(if anybody has a link that will be awsome)And in the topic of the etrex any cable to conect a garmin to a ipaq? WOW talk about many question in one place ,sorry had them in my head for a while and had to ask. spawn51

Ok so after reading the post in here i did my homework and ended up with a iPaq1950 programs mentioned here work prety good with it but im still learning.Thanks a lot for all the help guys.

Ok i used the search again and did not find nothing on this. Can somebody tell me wich PDA will be the best for caching? and what about programs to use with the PDA that are related to geocaching? I just dont whant to be using papers every time i go on a hunt and prefer having a PDA with me instead of my laptop that its safer you know laptop in car while you can take the PDA with you in your pocket so less oprtunities for somebody to break into your car to steal your laptop. Ok so i got a etrex legend and my girlfriend just got me Metroguide north america v6 my question is after watching the video on how to send maps to the GPS i follow it and when i am about to send to the GPS it tells me that all data on the GPS that was installed from the manufacturer will be lost? does that mean that the GPS will only have the maps i install in it in ex only FL ? will the rest of the maps will be deleted? what about details ? will i get more detail by sending new maps to the unit? any help will be apreciated.
