  1. Signed up for these too, so I'll have more coins to trade with! In the mean time, I'd love to trade for a Hazards of Caching v2 - Go Jaybee. see my list in my sig below... Thanks!
  2. congrats to the latest round of bitees, i'm nevously waiting for the biter to bit me! how's that for a poem? lol
  3. forgot to post these the other day... geocoin club january 2007 2 silver earth turtles 4th annual scottish cache bash a little micro silver pig a WI_Robin mwgb geocoin chick and last but not least... a binary coin
  4. ok, three now, more later, huh? lets see....... Since this is the coin forum, my first nomination would have to be for Go Jaybee, since his was the first coin collection that I got to see. I thought I was cool with three or four coins at the Temecula mega event, and here he was with boxes of em! He showed me my first real life Moun10bike coins and many other very special coins. That was the moment I knew I was a coin collector deep down inside. I must also say that he is the one who taught me that the coins in a collection are best when shared, and in order to discover his coins you must pick up and touch them. That makes it much more special, and I always share my collection in the same way. My second nomination is for CinemaBoxers. Two of the nicest most level-headed people I've virtually met. They host a wonderful place to get together, where they make everyone feel welcome. They gladly share their artistic abilities with the coin community, with so many wonderful designs. And when I was out on a limb they were two of the people to support me. But not just me, they support everyone and are always a delight to talk to. And my third nomination is goes to tadpole379. Without having to ask, she saved me from missing out on her personal coins, and even sent a little something extra. Now she is undertaking and spearheading a new project, one that I'm sure many many people will join, and everyone will benefit from her efforts. For this, I label her a "Giver" and offer my thanks for being a cool geo-person.
  5. yeah, trying to stay on topic makes me a bully. sorry about that. maybe you could answer the question i posted regarding reminting now that you've gotten that out of your system. remember? it was how is an RE an RE when other forms of the coin are reminted but not the RE? doesn't the RE then become an LE?
  6. My question is this... By minting new coins that are NOT the Regular Edition, aren't the RE's now LE's? If they were truly Regular, then why not remint them??? If they aren't regular then stop calling them that, its very misleading. According to your own thread about coin labels - LE coins are made in a limited run, which precisely describes your first run of FSM coins. Since that is about a specific coin, maybe you should ask it in the thread where it came from. You will stand a better chance of getting the answer you want there then in this thread which is about general reminting. Actually the thread it came from was not the appropriate thread to talk about it, as stated by its poster. Thanks for flapping your gums again. Your post really contributed to this thread, NOT! Remember, two wrongs don't make a right, pghlooking, but apparantly your agenda trumps another's. On another note, if you can't see how one person's reminting has anything to do with a "Reminting" thread, maybe you need to keep lookingpgh. Now back to the topic of this thread (thanks to pgh for the derail attempt), If you remint an RE but in a different metal/paint, how is it an RE and not now an LE according to the recent thread that defined LE as a run of a coin in a limited metal/paint?
  7. saw that the fairy was pretty close to Tijuana today, maybe she'll leave some tequila for a lucky cacher.
  8. FSM said this in another thread: My question is this...
  9. The best and easiest way to get geocoins is to buy some, then you can trade them with people. here's a good thread to read: link As you might find out, begging for coins does work, but lots of other people don't care for that type of posting here. The most fun way to see coins in my opinion is to find them in caches, and move them along their missions.
  10. That about sums it up pgh. If you want that much control as a consumer you need to go to Subway for a custom sandwich. And the point of the post, IMHO was that some people don't care how You would choose to do business, because its not your business. What was the last physical store you walked into that asked you for help with their business decisions? Sure you can yap yer mouth, as can I. But that is a little more on the free speech side than the consumerism side.
  11. i wonder what a GPSr would do if you took it into space, especially 'above' the satellites. in any case, we want photos! and wouldn't it be uber-cool to get a photo of a geocoin with a GPS satellite and earth in the background!
  12. a kewl trio of Tadpoles, and an SSMP - thanks to Tadpole379!! a TVGA hotrod - thanks to GPX Navs
  13. order sent! very very nice looking coins!
  14. If that applies to me, does that mean I'm autistic? I'll get one of these to support the reasearch just in case. Seriously though, a great cause Mama Cache. kudos.
  15. I'd love to see these reminted! I would like to purchase a set for my collection, as well as some to release in the wild in the grand tradition of traditional geocoins.
  16. Because that's the way it USED to be in here. It's not out of the question for us to want to see it stay that way. Traditionalism! A bold sentiment/ideal! Agreed. This exact same issue has come up before and I think it would be a good idea to avoid issues going forward by adding that simple statement to the sales notice/page. Sadly, I agree. Much like the "too hot McDonalds Coffee" lawsuit proved, the general public sometimes needs to be treated as a child, to avoid misunderstandings. But in no way would I limit this to a particular group of minters or designers, it should be evenly applied to all geocoin sales, as other recent remint uproars have occured with other people, and singling out one group is not part of the feel-good responsibility. Think about this: Would the Moun10Bike coins be as desirable if there were 1,000 of them made? No. Part of the reason they are collectible is because there are so few of them. The v1 is MUCH more desired than the v3 because of the numbers available. So then if CB had only minted 50 of these coins they would be way more desireable than the v1 Moun10Bike coins, "because of the numbers available." But so what? Did Moun10Bike create his so-called "limited" geocoins as a collectors item? Not sure, but he DID REMINT his v1 coins. So maybe the question needs to be addressed in a new thread about what constitutes a desireable amount of coins to mint, and how many is too many, so we will all know for future reference. You mentioned a number of times in this thread how YOU collect. You've also mentioned that you are a business. As such, your collecting practices don't matter - your customers do. Personally, I value CB's opinion as a collector/businessperson. I value most everyone's opinions, afterall this IS a forum. Have YOU sold a coin? Were there any issues that you had to respond to, and how did people react to any problems? Or are you speaking just as a collector, with no first-hand knowledge of the business side of things? People collect for a number of reasons and buy extras specifically to trade for other coins. When somebody buys 3 of a coin where only 135 exist, that holds great trade value because not a lot of people have them. When more are made later it diminishes the value of the first coins because more are available. Kinda like the hotly debated FSM coins. On another note, if you only have highly desireable coins how will you ever trade for the "less" desireable coins? Unless you are buying "rare" coins just to have an upper hand in your trades, which really doesn't follow with what you said about wanting the feel-good responsibility stay in the geocoin world, does it? C&B, please stop being so defensive and listen to what people are telling you. These are your customers and they are givinig you feedback. I believe CB has already stated that many customers are demanding a remint. If you are going to remint, it should really be a different metal or color. But if the "remint" is a new metal or color, it isn't a remint at all. Its a totally new version that will present the same desireability issues you are so concerned about. But as always, caveat emptor. Agreed. And always read the fine print. And if there is no fine print, don't make assumptions. Nowhere was it said that this was a limited minting. As stated in a thread started by our esteemed moderator FSM, limited runs are to be denoted by an "LE" label, and these coins were not labeled as such. Edit to add: I'd like to trade for a gold one if anybody has one. Contact me via PM. Shouldn't this have been put in the appropriate Trade Thread? edit to add: Remember, it's a coin, not an ultra-desireable black market kidney.

  21. I've discovered coins at events that were left "in" other events by the owner who just got tired of logging them all in/out of events. he just left them where they were online, and let us discover them from his physical collection at the events.
  22. make sure you're typing the number correctly - sometimes it can be confusing with 0=O I=1 B=8 etc. I have done this a few times.
