  1. Deleted the app, then reloaded it. That seems to have cleared up most of the problems. Apparently it was just a glitch in updating the app.
  2. I recently updated the Geocaching app for my iPhone 6. Since then several things have not been working. I cannot change the filters on the map. The app simply does not respond to any tap on the filter icon on the top bar. When I go into Navigate mode, the app shows the distance and direction to the cache. As I move toward the cache this never updates. I have to get out of Navigate and go back into it to get the distance to update. This makes it practically useless for actual navigation. When I'm looking at the map in Safari, it doesn't show me where I am on the map.
  3. Thanks for the info. It is working and I got my files.
  4. Today I was attempting to download some PQ files that had just been generated last night. When I switch to the "Pocket Queries Ready to Download" tab and click on one of the PQs, the screen clears, then a few seconds later the Pocket Query screen reappears and it's back on the "Active Queries" tab. No files are ever downloaded. How do I get my PQ files downloaded to my computer?
  5. I picked up a trackable at an event and want to grab it to put it in my inventory. But when I go to log the trackable the only options I am given are Discover and Write Note. I can't Grab it, Retrieve it from a cache, or Retrieve it from somewhere else. The trackable is listed as being in the hands of the owner.
  6. I have been having the same problem for several months. It was a major problem for me back in March when I took a trip through Big Sur in California. Went for three days with no cell phone coverage so I had no access to refresh the cache data. All I had in my PQs was title, coordinates, size, and D/T rating. No description, no hint, and no logs. In the past this did not happen. Two years ago I spent two weeks in Norway. Kept my iPhone in airplane mode to avoid international roaming charges the entire time. I had generated and saved PQs before I left home. I was able to use them for geocaching with no trouble; had descriptions, hints, and logs (at least all the logs up to the date I'd generated the PQ). I'm using a 3 1/2 year old iPhone 3GS running version 4.3.5 of the i.o.s. My version of the Geocaching App is v5.0.1
  7. I was caching today in MTRP in the area around the Kumeyaay campground. After spending half an hour looking unsuccessfully for Pick Your Team, I started walking away. A park employee drove up and told me if I was caching that I was wasting my time because the park was removing caches and had taken that one. Has anyone else ever heard that MTRP was removing caches? I have been having trouble finding some around the campground recently and had wondered if someone had removed them.
  8. Why are Unknown caches not a selectable type anymore? I don't often do Unknown caches and would like to turn them off when looking at a map. Why can't I? The same is true for Wherigo caches - no button to delete them from the map.
  9. Yesterday, a finder reported that my adopted cache, G4T50 - FIFTH, GC1F3P, which is a nano, now has a magnetic hide-a-key next to it. The hide-a-key does not contain a log or a geocaching notice, but it does have the coordinates to another cache in Little Italy in it with the designation #3. Those coordinates are the posted coordinates for PCR#2, GC1YKG0. The finder also reported that he had found similar hide-a-keys at two other caches downtown. It appears that someone has set up their own private multi-cache - using other cachers locations. She's left a name, Desiree, and phone numbers, 619-557-6971 and 619-890-5172, on the paper inside the hide-a-key, but hasn't returned my call tonight. Does anyone know anything about this?
  10. I've just come back from a trip from San Diego to Spokane. Did a bunch of geocaching along the way and picked up/dropped off several Travel Bugs on the way. The ones that I was taking a long distance I did some of the drop off and immediately retrieve actions to log in some of their travels. In general I did it once per state that I was travelling through. Does that sound like a reasonable approach? Logging a TB in and out of every cache you do seems rather excessive. One question I had was what about microcaches that are obviously too small for the TB to fit in? Do other cachers think that logging a TB in and out of such a cache is bad etiquette? Or is it okay for the purpose of showing the bug's travels? (To see exactly what I'm talking about, look at the travel map for Gloria Gorilla and Babe TB, and in particular, look at the picture I posted for the 2:53 PM at Rosehill Cache.)
  11. Thank you, Kouros, for the solution: ----------------------------- Just get your nephew to "grab" the bug, by him typing in the six-figure code, and ticking the box to say he's got it. It'll disappear from your inventory, and reappear on his. --------------------------------------------
  12. My wife is taking a trip soon to Virginia (we're in San Diego). I'd like to snag a Travel Bug (one whose aim is travelling long distances) and pass it on to my nephew in Virginia who has recently taken up geocaching. He could then leave the bug in one of the Virginia caches. My question is: How do I transfer the TB from my inventory to my nephew's, so he can log it when he places it?
