  1. No, it's not the same and it doesn't mean that you've been there. Many people collect sig items so they don't always remain in the cache. Also, some people move them. I once found a cache that contained one of my sig items that had made it there long before I did. Keep signing the log.
  2. I have this happen from time to time. Sometimes frequently, other times I go a long stretch with no problem. When it happens, I click on make a copy of the PQ and then I run the copy. So far, that has worked every time. I delete the copy and go back to using my original PQ the next time I need it. It seems random, I may run a couple of PQs and one will go and the other will not. I just run a copy of the one that didn't work.
  3. Here are my boys. I lost Jack (front) recently after 14 1/2 years of fun and loyalty. Rocky (back) is starting to have some age related issues but still enjoys getting out and exploring.

    Hints

Unfortunately, that just restores all the broken functionality of the old system. It doesn't correctly preserve line breaks, and freaks out when it encounters an "&" symbol. This script actually decodes the hints correctly, by directly working on the individual text nodes. Enjoy! Hmmmm, I could not get PS's script to run either but JeremyR's did. This makes things much smoother again. Thanks.
  5. I have been first to a cache after it was published only to find that someone had found it before publishing it. I don't log FTF if that happens, someone beat me to it and was first. The exception would be if the first cacher specifically stated that he was not claiming FTF. After all, there is no official FTF. I consider the first person to be first unless they say they are leaving it for the first person after it's published.
  6. Cache migration is a common problem. I try to be very careful to put it back exactly where I find it even if I think it could be better. If a partner finds it, I ask before placing it back so I don't assume. I recall moving one a few inches on purpose. I moved it a few inches out of the ant nest but still, essentially the same place. I explained in my log why I did it. The ant nest had clearly been built up around the cache and had buried it. I knew the owner and was sure he didn't want cachers to have to dig the cache out of the nest each time.

    Hints

Please! Put the hints back like they were. Now, when I click to decrypt the hint, the page is reloaded and I'm sent to the top of the page. Then I have to scroll back down to the hint. This is very annoying. It used to just decrypt on the fly, no scrolling needed. I really like how it worked and always felt that was a really slick feature that was well designed. Seems the site has taken a big step back with the change. Please! Make it like it was. just my two cents
  8. This is a new problem since the upgrade so I assume it's related. I changed my home coords recently and everything has been fine until now. Now the map shows my home location fine, PQs seems to work fine, but email notifications of new caches are working off my old home coords. So a cache listed 4.1 miles away was actually over 20 miles away.
  9. I see the inventory in the middle of the bottom of my account page, under my logs. With so much space on the right of the page, seems pointless to have to scroll to the very bottom to see the inventory. I'd like to see it back on the right side again.
  10. Reloads the page and takes you back to the top so you have to scroll back down to get back to where you were on the page. That is very annoying to put it mildly.
  11. I already had Greasemonkey installed so I installed the Geothumbs. Works great! Thanks.
  12. Small while geocaching. My sony fits on my belt or my pack or my pocket. While geocaching I typically crank it down to 3 megapixels because I don't need high resolution for the web and the photos upload faster. Works great.
  13. Cool!! I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly. When I opened my saved kml file, it was the route I had made in Google Maps.
  14. I know people that are happy with the Walmart staff for caching. It's used for poking and reaching. I looked at them previously for hiking. Every single one that I tested in the store was of poor quality for actually using as a hiking stick. I found that no matter how hard I tightened them, they would not hold fast and would collapse with weight put on them. So, . . . for poking around for caches they're great and inexpensive. For hiking and using as a staff, I'd steer clear.
  15. Finders can comment on dif/ter ratings in their logs and the owner can take this under advisement. Sometimes difficulty depends upon experience so there is no one rating that fits everyone. Someone who hasn't found a type before may find it very difficult. Someone who has seen the type before may find it very simple.
  16. Not in the least. Some people enjoy hunting, some enjoy hiding, some enjoy both. There are plenty of caches. I think it's important that everyone enjoy the aspect(s) of the game that they like.
  17. I'm using an HP iPAQ 2495 with Vista with no problems.
  18. This guy was next to a cache I found. This guy was near another cache. This one was right next to the cache but it was cool out and he never moved.
  19. Isn't that a poisonous snake? Nope. No such thing as a poisonous snake. However, it is a venomous snake -- copperhead.
  20. Territory? What's that? While I agree with several responses, this is the best one yet. You can come to my neck of the woods and hide caches.
  21. Help! My dog lost his coin. I am looking for an unactivated GeoDog coin (designed by CinemaBoxers). They were originally available through geocoinshop.com.
  22. I've been having trouble since last night. No improvement yet. But I see that they are working on it so I'm sure it will all be good again soon. This is a complicated site, just look at the inconvenience of not being able to access one page that we do so much from. So it may take a while to hammer out the problem but they will. Thanks for the great work!
  23. Spoke too soon! Subsequent efforts have failed.
  24. It's fixed! Just got a photo to upload. It was slow, but it's there. Thanks!
  25. Still happening this morning. Hope it's fixed soon.
