  1. I don't think that most people in CJ's chat room are all that alive. They are all mostly from the north and tend to hibernate this time of year. Maybe things will pick up in the spring when they all thaw out..... or get back home from Florida. P.S. If you ever want to feel really insecure about your computer skills this is the place to go. Happy Ides of March to ya
  2. quote:Originally posted by Arkman18:I am new to geocaching so correct me if i am wrong but if a cache is thrown out the window while some one is driving on the interstate would this not be littering. I see you could make a case for all caches being littering .... So what we are saying is that the speed at which the cache encounters the ground determines whether it is a cache or litter? I also agree about the Feral cache nomenclature. I think it has legs and will be right up there with Markwelling. I love being around when history is made. I have nothing more of any value to put forth.
  3. If I come upon a cache placed by someone from out of state I assume it is o.k. to remove it, throw the container away ( tourists never leave caches in ammo cans) then distribute any good stuff I find in them to other caches I visit. Saves me making too many trips to McDonalds. The placer just thinks the cache was stolen and probably doesn't care that much anyway. Sometimes if it is a really good site, I just move it a few feet, log it as missing, request it be archived, rename it and I'm good to go. This game is only as fun as you make it. I have nothing more of any value to put forth.

  5. avoid those who say they have found it.
  6. When Ronnie Lott (Safety for the 49ers) broke his pinky during the playoffs one year, he was told he would either have to wear a giant cast on his hand or not play for 4-6 weeks. Since the Super Bowl was coming up he opted to have it cut off. I'm not making this up. So how addicted are you really? Yes I have finds, yes I have hides and yes I'm a charter member. 7. quote:Originally posted by Trailblazer # 1:...,and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA? The quick answer is that those jobs that produced the above goods (with the exception of the German car) don't pay squat. I'm sure that if you were willing to sit around all day making radios or alarm clocks for $1.50 someone would be glad to hire you. Be glad you are in America where you can own all that stuff, not have a job and sit around drinking wine complaining about you're poor lot in life. 8. When I was younger, getting stoned was much different. To put things in perspective you can also waste your money on: 1. Cooking lessons when most recipies are written on the box. 2. Horseback ridding 3. Snorkling/Scuba 4. Golf Lessons 5. Tennis lessons Personaly there were times I would have given $50 for information leading to my whereabouts as it relates to the cache or civilization for that matter. 9. Let me say up front that I don't have any particular beef with the management about the guidelines. I have heard the word grandfathered being used over and over as regards a certain place in time when things got tighter i.e. the guidelines for virts and locationless. I can't seem to find this date. Does anyone really know? I think it's time for a concensus on what is and isn't acceptable. Maybe we post a poll on one questionable one a day and all vote on it. 10. You take it upon yourself to be the safety police by posting to the forum what you personaly consider a dangerous cache, along an Interstate. Then you place a cache out in a snake and alligator infested swamp next to the railroad tracks and think this is not a problem? All I can say is "WoW". Over zealous cops can be an extreme danger. They have weapons and live in a slightly different world than you do. What might seem innocent to you can look very sinister in their eyes. If I had to take make a choice between getting shot by a cop, bit by a snake, eaten by an alligator or arrested by the railroad police and stopping on the shoulder of the hiway? Pretty much a no brainer. Yes I have finds, yes I have hides and yes I'm a charter member. My wife will not let me use our account on the forums...don't know why.
  11. So I only do locationless. Or virts if I can guess where they are. Yes I have finds, yes I have hides and yes I'm a charter member. My wife will not let me use our account on the forums...don't know why.
  12. I'll tell you anyway. I think 'yall worry way too much about what others are doing or not doing. This is a game it's supposed to be fun. People can do what they want with their logs it has nothing to do with me. If on the other hand they start throwing the numbers in your face then we got problems. Anyway I only do locationless caches. So nobody cares if I log them or not. I've been thinking why do I have to show a picture of myself at a cache that by definition doesn't even have a location? 13. As long as the cache was properly described on the cache page and I didn't have to make the decision not to do it after driving all the way there, I would not have a problem with it. It is your option to do the cache or not. I would never ask anyone other than the original hider to archive a cache. Just because you are afraid does not automatically make it dangerous to all. 15. quote:Originally posted by airman730:Ahhh...there's always someone who spoils the mood, isn't there. The point of geocaching is the hunt...correct? More importantly, it's discovering places that you haven't been before. Still with me? I am not a bar promoter...I'm a 21 year old college student. It's just the same as aerocaching. Flying into a certain airport to discover a cache doesn't mean I'm supporting that particular airport and all the fees thereunto. Let's keep things in perspective. I'm looking for new ideas and innovations for this great sport. You can either spout regualations like any brainless moron, or you can add to the conversation. Please choose which..... If you had read the rules you should have known that this type of cache probably wouldn't be approved anyway. Why jump someone for pointing that out to you? On the otherhand why not put one in a grocery store or a brothel for that matter. Yes I have finds, yes I have hides and yes I'm a charter member. 16. Since the term Markwell has already been used, can we call changing traditionals or Virts to Locationless Welching? J/K...don't throw stuff. Yes I have finds, yes I have hides and yes I'm a charter member. My wife will not let me use our account on the forums...don't know why.

  19. I understand even if the others don't. My answer would be 1 because I can only answer for myself. I'm pretty sure that me and you are the only ones who have actually found any, the others are just telling fibs. So that would be 2... no brdad has I think so 3...yeah my answer is 3. 20. I used to wonder how in the heck normal God fearing regular German citizens could just sit back and let the Nazis and the military take things over and do the things they did. I wonder less and less these days. Before you all jump up my crack let me just say I spent 6 years in the military and some 21 years in government service of one kind or another. I need to appologize to no one for my views. I guess I have just one question. As regards to the war on terrorism, how do we know we have won? Do you honestly think bombing people will make them decide to be our friends? If it's anything like the war on drugs we are in for a long haul indeed. 21. The person who placed the cache is responsibile for it. I would email the person and let them know what bad shape their cache is in. If I read logs from a month ago that said the cache container was hosed or logbook was soggy, I would assume the person had no more interest in it and I would consider it a part of my trashout responsibility. It's just like cleaning a kids room won't teach them to do it themselves. Repairing other peoples caches just encourages more trash caches. 24. quote:Originally posted by GeoPrincess: We did a few of those, and the caches were invariably nothing out of the ordinary. So now we avoid caches when the cache description has "an attitude." If the cache were any good, the bluster wouldn't be necessary. I noticed from checking profiles that the guys writing these wiseguy cache descriptions usually have few finds, all of low difficulty. For you of, all people, to avoid caches where the hider has an attitude is just to funny. Sorry no offense intended but .... hahahaha. We are supposed to agree with you that wise guys have few finds when you "report" none. Thanks for the morning guffaw. Yes I have finds, yes I have hides and yes I'm a charter member.
