  1. Been there, Done that. Take out the SD card and Voila! Tried all that, no luck. Guess I have a brick now. Ah yes me too!!! High 5 but it's a brick that lights up blue and cost a few hundred bucks! tried the reset too, didn't work. Thanks for the tips though, I'm desperate to try anything to get it working. Can't afford another GPS and I'm trying to stay in geocaching
  2. I have an explorist XL also freezing on start-up. Can do the force power off and nothing else wokrs except software upload mode but I can't do anything with it. are there any other codes that work to do an alternate reset?
  3. I have a 4 yr old magellan explorist XL and bought the topo canada map online. I loaded 2 seperate maps and the one I directly loaded onto the unit just recently started giving the dreaded map security error. It worked up until a week ago when the unit froze and would not recover. I shut the unit off, removed the battery and did the power drain (holding power with the batteries out). Behold the unit fired up succesfully...not quite. No detail map loaded, I activated it in active setup and BAM "map security error". My original computer is hopefully living a life of another form as it bit the dust. Taking with it my original map and mapsend bought online. Now the new computer will not recognize my old GPS, and without the detail map working it's rather frustrating. My second map still works for some reason but it's for an area I rarely visit. Is there a way to get into the physical file information and take what I need from the working file to get the non working file going again? Any suggestions?
  4. I bought a Magellen explorist XL a few months ago and fairly recently I got into geocaching. At first I tried to use the Magellan geocache manager and shortly after gave up on the program. The geocache file that I export using the Magellan geocache manager is not recognised by the magellan GPS. I tried to contact Magellan with no reply or solution. I was wondering if anyone else had problems with their geocache software or if there is a good program out there that will work with my explorist XL
  5. My name's Sean and I'm new to the GPS community. My girlfriend and I live in Langley and we're looking for an easy first geocache to get the gears turning. I've tried the Hall 5 cache and the kraft cache near noel booth park, but no success yet. I'd like to try something quick an easy so the girlfriend gets into this. Any easy caches in the South Langley area?
