  1. How cool! What a great gesture!
  2. This would be wrong, of course. :D :D Oh, I love it!!
  3. So I got an email from a friend who hasn't cached in years, asking if a trackable that he'd put on a watchlist was back in action. So I went to do some investigating and ended up at the profile of "horser" and this thread on the travel bug forum: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=306530&st=0 But it seems that this guy must have also somehow figured out some pattern to USAGeocoins as well since of all of his trackables, he has one or two here and there but then in various categories, and then 1501 travel bugs and 217 in USAGeocoins, almost all of which were logged on 1/1/2013. WHY do people do this???
  4. I got a log on a trackable I'd placed on my watchlist that had no activity in 5 years, which led me to horser's profile- saw all of his logs from yesterday and came to this forum to see if anyone knew what was going on. I'm a frequent visitor on the geocoin forum but not often on this one- I see he seems to have done the same thing with a bunch of geocoin logs as well. Hoping that Groundspeak does something to stop this!
  5. Very nice- simple and classy!
  6. Nice job! I had forgotten about the contest, will be eager to see the winning photos.
  7. I had sent an email message thru FB to his mom, expressing my condolences. I think through that I ended up as a friend of his and got a notice that today was his birthday and I guess his mom published an online birthday celebration of sorts. Just thought I'd point this out in case people wanted to post a message to the family and loved ones. I didn't know him personally and when I got the FB notice, still had to wonder what could have happened to take away a talented person at such a young age, because it seemed like he had everything to live for, from the remembrances I've read. I'm sure today is a hard day for his family and friends and so wanted to revive this thread in case anyone wanted to send them a message.
  8. I sure hope everything works out this time- what an ordeal to have gone through on this project of love!
  9. I got one too! Beautiful coin. I have to admit that I recently sent a complaint letter to a company that has the initials "HH" so when I saw those letetrs as the only return addy info, I thought it was going to be a reply to that letter. But it was a great surprise instead! Thanks so much to the mystery giver.
  10. Hope everyone had a great holiday!!
  11. We have about 6 or 7 of the regular/nickel edition left from the fresno/fredericksburg event. I'm more interested in selling them to help cover our event costs and because I decided not to try to get trades because then I'dnfeel compelled to try to obtain every version to have a true full complete set. But if you're interested in buying 8ne & can pay $12.50 in no-fee paypal, that will cover shipping a coin to you. Just contact,me through Groundspeak.
  12. You did two metals with the same color scheme? Yes, that's what I did- a LE of the satin gold ones.
  13. It's kind of a bad picture- taken with my camera phone, but this is the Fresno/Fredericksburg coin:
  14. I think mine- Fresno/Fredericksburg, is #22.
  15. Super cool- so glad Mr. Gray is still around. I've had this topic on my watchlist just waiting to see what happens!
  16. Thanks for the feedback- I haven't quite made up my mind about the proxy idea yet, it's something new to me, so I'm still trying to decide. The coin obviously has personal meaning to me, so I'm hoping to get it minted in the next couple of months- I just have to quit dithering and make some decisions!
  17. I thought about doing some in color, like the first Cachin' Cats had been done, but sinde it's supposed to be an Angel, no other colors really made sense, aside from the white. And no other finishes really seemed like they'd work, aside from silver or gold with the design. So that limited the number of variations I'll be making. I suppose something around the neck might work, but I really wanted to curled up kitty sleeping, and didn't want to take away the way the paws are curled up. So if it was a cat sitting up and showing mroe of their front/neck area, that might look cool, but I wanted this pose. And then I wanted to emblem to be fairly large, so using this pose left a large area on the back to have the ribbon/circle.
  18. My plan is to mint it in gold and silver- most likely a satin or antique silver and the same in gold. I'm uploading the gold mock-up, although it doesn't look as good on the computer, which I was warned about, but it'll give you an idea. The story behind it is that I wanted to do a second "Cachin' Cats" geocoin for my family, and I have a white cat named Angel, so she was kind of the model. I'd minted the first Cachin' Cats coin and also designed the Breast Cancer Angel geocoin, so this was sort of a melding of those two coins, to make a breast cancer cat angel. I decided that I didn't want it to be an "awareness" coin, because after all, you'd have to be a hermit to not be "aware" of diabetes (represented by the blue circle) or breast cancer. But I wanted it to be a "tribute" to those who've dealt with either or both diseases. Since I've had the luck (said sarcastically...) to be saddled with both, I wanted the symbols intertwined. And then I wanted there to be a space where someone could have something engraved on it, to honor someone, or to convey a message, or to identify themselves or whatever they might choose to put there, but a way to personalize the coin, if so desired.
  19. I wanted to get people's feedback on this geocoin design and gauge interest in purchasing the coin. If I mint it just as a single coin, it'd probably cost about $12 per coin, plus shipping, and if I do it with a proxy coin, it'd probably be $15 a coin plus shipping. Please comment on what you think of the design and if you'd have a preference for the proxy or not?
  20. What is the "trade" part? I see a column on the spreadsheet where people are selecting yes and then a deadling to opt in to that, but I don't know what that means? Can someone explain it?
  21. Hmmm... I sent my request but I don't have a gmail account to use, only my yahoo account- didn't get an invite. Does this mean we can't participate?
  22. So I wanted to design another Cachin' Cats geocoin for my family, and also wanted to incorporate some things from my breast cancer angel geocoin. So I came up with an idea for a Cachin' Cats tribute geocoin. I thought about making it an awareness geocoin, but I figure everyone is "aware" of diabetes and breast cancer, unless they live as a hermit at the North Pole maybe. So I decided that really what I was thinking was more of a coin that's a tribute to all the people dealing with one or both of these chronic conditions. I just wanted something simple- a simple solid white cat that's an angel, with the breast cancer ribbon and the diabetes circle, along with my family's caching names. But I also wanted people to be able to have the coin personalized for themselves if they want. So I have a friend who does engraving and is able to engrave on geocoins, so the large space on the back of the cat that's below "Team Boykin" and above the "track at..." part, will be solid white, but is a large area where you could have your team name or the name of someone special engraved. And if you don't want engraving, then that area will just be white cat. I'm interested in seeing what the interest is from people out there, along with any suggestions people have on design, although I'm pretty set on it the way it is. I thought about having the wings slightly different, but when we played around with a pattern or texture or even a solid color like a light silver, it really didn't look right, or messed up the words on the back.
  23. Beautiful coins! Can't wait to reserve one.
  24. Cool coin! Love the glow in the dark moon.
