  1. Under 'About Lists' it says that you can delete offline date to save space... However I see no way to delete pocket queries. This question applies to the new as well as the classic App.
  2. We use an Iphone5, with the premium app, for geocaching and often visit areas without cellphone coverage. I usually choose the caches I want to search for on a computer, load them into the 'saved' area on the phone and sort them by cities. For example: when visiting Spain, I chose caches on the route our tour would use and loaded a few caches by city; Madrid, Obeda, etc.. We can log the finds as we go and then send them when we have WiFi service. We use the same method in the USA to pick caches on our route before we go rather that search as we travel. This saves us from wasting time looking at all the caches in the area that may not have been found lately or are too far off our route. I don't see that capability in the new version. Will it be added soon? Thanks, Rangercarol
  3. A-Team Thanks for the information. Rangercarol
  4. I have been using the full app for about two years and still discover some surprising feature now and then. However, since it does not include messaging capability, I added the free version. Two questions - when with the paid app include messaging, and how do I delete messages when they are no longer relevant? I have deleted them on the website but they remain in the free app. Thanks
  5. Thanks to all who took the time to share their experiences with me. Before I saw these responses, I bought an Oregon 650, on sale, and had been playing with it. I am stunned to see how crude the map is; practically useless for geocaching. I guess that Garmin's marketing strategy is to force us to buy maps. rangercarol After spending about 8 hours playing with our new Oregon and downloading and trying maps from both recommended sites, we decided that it just wasn't what we expected. Therefore, we are going to return it and stick with an Iphone. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions. rangercarol
  6. I bought an Oregon 650 today and have been getting familiar with it. I am stunned to see how crude the basemap is; it is useless for geocaching. I may be naive, but I didn't see anyone else mention that I must immediately pay more money to Garmin for detailed maps. I would expect this device to display detail at least as well as my Iphone with the Geocaching app. Perhaps I missed something obvious and that the detail is there and I didn't figure out how to get it. I did see a reference to free maps form Open Street Maps. Is there any risk there? Thanks for the help. Rangercarol
  7. We have been using an Iphone5 with the Groundspeak app for about one year. It works fine although it is not always as accurate as one would like. I am thinking about a new Garmin 64ST but I would like to be assured that it can do everything the Iphone can do only better. Any recommendations? Rangercarol
  8. I am a new Premium member and enjoy looking through the statistics. However, I noticed a few issues that I would like to address. I had a map of finds but now it is gone and I would like it back. Most premium members list milestones at increments of 100. In my case, it does that to 1000 and then states that the next milestone would be at 2000. I would like to see milestones at 100 increments. I would rather not load software from another site, at this time, to fix this issue. thanks, Rangercarol
  9. I just became a premium member and got frustrated while trying to award favorites to caches that I have enjoyed. Then I looked at the forum and saw that it is not just me, this problem had existed for awhile. How come there hasn't been a response from Groundspeak with a work around or a fix? thanks, rangercarol
  10. Please read my note more thoroughly. It explains, as succinctly as I can what I experienced; I was doing what you say can't be done. In fact, I can still download gpx files to my Garmin 1450 by using the 'send to gps' button and look at them on Windows Explorer. To be clear, the only information that appeared on the gps screen was the icon not information about the cache.
  11. You cannot download .gpx files as a Regular Member. They are a PM benefit. You may well have a .gpx folder, but it wouldn't contain any .gpx files -- unless -- you had been a PM and allowed your membership to expire or somebody else had loaded them. Regular Members can only download .loc files (I believe the geocache icon comes with the download). You can use "Send to GPS", you cannot use "GPX file" buttons.
  12. Until recently, I was able to click the send to my gps button and download GPX files to my Garmin Nuvi 1450. The GC and coordinates would load into Favorites and as treasure chest icons on the screen. They could also be found in the GPX folder by using Windows Explorer. Now, when I click the send to my gps button the information is not shown on the GPS. The file still appears in the GPX folder. Both the Geocaching website and Garmin have been updating stuff lately. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to work around it? I am a member and I use Firefox, if that is relevant. Thanks, Rangercarol
