  1. I got also a few hard to get caches, and yes it happen people get it down, sign it, and leave it on the ground, and others "find" it too on the ground and sign it.. the rules are clear : they signed it, so they can log it as found online. nothing I as CO can do, I go fix it, and then I say in my performed maintenence log : the last 4 finders should come now, and sign it again, to be able to feel they really found it. If they do this or not, is not my problem, they only tricked them self to a higher D/T found at less work and risk = less fun, actually, no fun at all, for them.. but offcourse also a bit for me too, since I created this cache to educate and to entertain people. a propper way to FIND a cache, involves also to put it back at correct D/T level again, if this is not possible by mistake, ok fine, then say it in your log !! CO will show up and remove the cache or fix it fast if it matters to him.. if finding the cache was performed using on porpose wrong or lack of equipment so put it back is not possible, the seeker show VERY bad and unfriendly geocaching style..
  2. Caches along a route is the coolest feature !!! I use it all the time, the PQ file can be transfered to phones, running geocaching software even some apps are free, and then you are fine, no need to get one of them fancy expensive GPS.. BUT they last alot longer on the battery and got a bit better GPS antenna, and is also a bit better when it come to dirt and hard outdor usage, a phone is designed to indoor office use, and will suck up the battery fast when in use constantly
  3. a part of the normal fun is to find the most legal parking as short as possible to the cache, and then also find the most legal way to access the cache. just the most legal. or less illegal parking or access route, is defined a bit different from person to person, the hider of the cache is offcourse not to blame for the lack of good judgement some eager seekers may have. Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone
  4. please dont many any more challenge caches, make alot new good traditionals, that is what we need,
  5. I create caches to be FOUND, if most people finding them, log their experiance online I am happy this way I and all others know about its status, and if it is worth a visit or if it is waste of time. if most people do not log online, I remove them all and not make any new caches. also think about: do you read other peoples logs ? do you find them usefull ? or just entertaining ? or waste of bytes ?
  6. you misunderstand, I think a bit on purpose :-) offcourse it is no secret how they look like, the "thing" is people actually go out and find a real cache
  7. >Huckle-Buckle-Beanstalk I never ever heard of anything like that, nor even something like this ever performed anywhere. I do something in between, when we are a few searching together, if I find it, I pick it up, and just hold it clearly visible in my hand and silently wait for others to look at me, he he they always get a good laugh that way, and I get to see how they continue to search arround after nothing :-) if it is a FTF hunt, I pick it up, sign it, hide it again, sneek a bit away log it online via my phone, and say good luck to the other seeker :-) I did this once with a friend, so much fun.. but normally I just say the first one finding it, he sign it, and he claim the FTF no big deal really, the other seeker get his find, and a smile too.
  8. all the stuff GeoTrekker26 said read it 100 times !!!
  9. there is no rule that say anything about you need to log any finds at the same date as they are found, you can offcourse go offline for several weeks, like on vacation, find caches every day, get back home online and log them all as found the correct dates as you found them, and then you offcourse get the correct souvenirs. Logging finds with intentional WRONG dates is not a game I recommend you start to play, since it is NO fun at all. There are also no maximum time for a delayed online log, my record is 3 years, no kidding.. PS: we are MANY here in Danmark, who go for all 31 souvenirs heck we even play a game on facebook, who is the first every day to post a picture of their new souvenir :-) and my wife got her own new profile, so she can go out and try to get her own 31 days steeak, alot of geocachers who dont really play the steeak-game, actually started it this august, a goal of just 31 is possible for most people, so why not try it. >When you log the cache, you just have to change the date to the day it was found. you can CHANGE a log, and correct a date and you can also just input the correct found date, no matter what date it is, you do the logging online
  10. >would you let someone sleep with your wife for a million dollars I know some people would for zero $ if you give me a million $ you can sleep with me too :-)
  11. I go for ALL 31 august souvenirs, offcourse since it is cool and funny to geocache any day, every day, no matter what day.
  12. I would newer accept a challenge that will force me not to take some types of caches like a D/T over 4 challenge, this means alt caches with under 4 DT I need to pass by.. no way !! the steak thing is what keeps me happy at the moment and D/T matrix x 2 is soon there
  13. WHY respond to a 2 year old thread, like the conversation just continued ?? come on, the thread starter was online for ultra short time, found just 7 caches, never logged in since, so the answer is NO !!! good you did not waste the money
  14. some are worth alot, some less, and some nothing, you get them, you keep them, but I just dont see why 31 useless to you, makes you want to email people until they delete them.. I also agree with the thing, some of them are of quite high value to me, I will be happy to drive a whole day, just to get one extra contry, those I value due to me efford, time and money spend into getting them, but I will not hate getting some "worthless" like just get them for free, for just find one random cache, since that dont mean a darn thing at all. OK I got it.. the first souvenir is tomorrow, jubii cant wait, I get them all :-)
  15. why do you all sound so negative ? if you dont like what souvenirs are or do, then just dont click on that page, how I see this : They add something, remove something, try this and that, at least they actually do something, this show me they do care, they do try to make it more fun or apealing or more for the stats or for a graphic souvenir what ever :-) it is the 12th today, right ? so where is the darn thing..
  16. you can as a finder offer to help, by adding more dry paper, or change a logbook, or add tape, or change a broken container but ask the CO first, they normally get happy for help. A CO is offcourse the one responsible for a cache and its condition, but you can be a nice player too.. you need to find the cache, before you know about its condition, only then you can make a NM log and say what you think need service. if you did not find the cache, you should repport it via a DNF log say how deep you searched for how long and maybe even how many people in your group performed the search, this dont mean the cache is gone, not at all, it just say you did not find it, it was not where you looked, a good CO will check the cache, fix it, move it, or change D/T or hint, to make it as he like it to be. if the area or position is offlimits due to rules broken, permission missing, perform NA and say the problem, dont use personal or words easy to misunderstand, short and clear. if you feel unsure about the NA log, or dont like to (maybe) upset the CO, inform a reviewer in silence, remember to have picture documentation if needed.
  17. >to then start getting ten finds a week on it because someone who solved it decided to share the answer. this happens since people wants to get outdoor and have fun and dont want to waste time at home.. a cache should be designed to be found.. it is cool J Grouchy you think alot about creative hides, the locations, and real puzzles to solve while out there in the great outdoors. try not to make it too complex, if you create stuff with moving parts, be sure it is not too fragile, alot of things are super fun and last long, and the person need to use his brain :-) the shooe laces with numbers on them are great :-) then people need to find a stick with the right diameter, wind up and read the hidden message, or transparent plastic sheets with partial numbers, to combine, light tru and read. and many more of such ideas
  18. where is the hard part ?? SHARE YOUR EXPERIANCE WITH OTHERS ONLINE that apply both to good and bad things, actually it is MOST important to share the experiance when bad stuff happen, I posted a few NA, and alot of NM logs during my time caching, and I did also write the reviewers directly when stuff was too important to wait and see if CO did things
  19. exactly Mark.. then imagine to live in an area where most puzzles are exactly as you wrote you did not like so much.. and then a zillion of them, only made to prove a point or give back, to see who can waste most time from each other. that is why I cry..
  20. if a puzzle is 90 % time spend behind a pc and only 10% time outdoor activity, what have it to do with the line written on the first page ? it is another game, but not geocaching, since geocaching is an OUTDOOR game, it maybe funny and all that..
  21. I dont get it ? give me the GC number. I heard about a puzzle cache called LIAR !! you need to log it as found, then you get the cordinate to undo your lie :-)
  22. geocaching is an OUTDOOR game.. not indoor behind a pc game... so please encurage people to get outdoor, not waste their time at home to solve stuff not at all related to geocaching. some puzzles are fun if they are easy, educational, geocaching related give people some thing.
  23. AJ you mix things up a bit.. I say manipulating is the same as intentionally change or fix things from what is known to be true by the person who do it, this is also called lying.. if you screw up a date, unintentinally by mistake, it is just a mistake, not a lie, it is ok to do mistakes
  24. if a cache is enabled, no red flag, no NA logs, I go for it all caches are pr definition placed with permission, so I dont need to read logs or descriptions. and that I will carefully explain to the police if I ever get into any problems.
  25. One minute after, or one day after is the same thing, since the next visitor could show up one min later.. Then we have it..
